WOW! I can't believe nobody has said these two.....

1. Alien - one of my top 10 films of all time! For the "chest-burtsing" scene alone this deserves to be on the list.

2. Jaws - nobody can deny that this is one of the scariest movies of all time. I remember watching it as a kid (AND as a young teen mind you) and afterwards I was seriously scared that a shark was going to burst through the floor and get me. Obviously I knew it COULDN'T happen, but that didn't stop the thought from scaring the honey out of me!

Others:
Halloween
Blair Witch Project
Rosemary's Baby
28 Days Later
Dead Alive
The Shining
House of 1000 Corpses (movie FREAKED me out)

-Psycho
-Night of the Living Dead
-Halloween
-Nosferatu (1979 remake)
-The Shining
-John Carpenter's The Thing
-Evil Dead
-Dracula (Lugosi version)
-Nightmare on Elm Street
-Bubba Ho-Tep

My list might change in an hour, but this is definately ten OF my favorite Horror Films if it isn't my ten favorite:
"Curse of the Demon"
"night of the Living Dead"
"Near Dark"
"The Haunting"
"I walked with a Zombie"
"The Hills have Eyes"
"The Black Cat"
"Alien
Suspiria"
"Dude, where's my Car?" This is the most horrorble movie I have ever actually sat through. Still gives me chills when I think about it.

I like all kinds of horror but my favorites tend to be of the psychological scares variety with some flesh eating Zombie action or splattery Giallo thrown in for spice. I'm a huge fan of Val Lewton and Jaques Tourneau but have been known to watch a Fulci or Argento flick now and again. And I love all the Universal horror icons. I guess I like a lot of stuff.

1. Frankenstein (1931)
2. Bride of Frankenstein
3. Dracula (1931)
4. Friday the 13th Part 4 - The Final Chapter(yeah right :lol )
5. House on Haunted Hill (1959)
6. Children Shouldnt Play With Dead Things
7. The Wolf Man (1941)
8. A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 3 - The Dream Warriors
9. White Zombie
10. Halloween

So... is this supposed to be the movies which scared us the most? The best made "horror" movies? Just our personal favorites? Taking the above three criteria into account, this is one possible list for me (in no order)...

Bride of Frankenstein
Creature From the Black Lagoon
The Haunting (original)
The Mummy
Halloween
The Blair Witch Project
Tarantula
The Exorcist
Frankenstein
Phantasm

No order....

Exorcist
Hellraiser
Hellraiser 2
A Nightmare on Elm Street
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Friday The 13th Part 3
Pet Sematary
Jacobs Ladder
Castle Freak
Night of the Living Dead

There are too many to choose from, so here are just some of my favorites.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
The Exorcist
Psycho (the first movie to scare me as a kid)
Bride of Frankenstein
Nosferatu (both versions)
Halloween
Carpenter's The Thing
Dawn of the Dead
Dracula
The Blair Witch Project
Hellraiser

And for pure creepiness: Audition

1)John Carpenter's THE THING
2)Phantasm
3)The Fly (remake)
4)Dawn of the Dead (remake)
5)Howling
6)American Werewolf in London
7)Friday the 13th Pt 2

"Bride Of Chucky" was really a comedy, not quite horror, but is one of my faves as well.

I can say at the time of my first viewing of the film(around age 10 or so) I didn't find it scary but it obviously had a lasting affect on me because I now have an irrational fear of deep waters and sharks.:lol
