The Economics of Star War$
This is pretty interesting:

How did George Lucas manage to turn one idea into $15 billion? Check out an awesome infographic that illustrates the economics of the Star Wars franchise—and the real reason so much of our money ended up in his pockets.

Interesting stuff. I can't believe that ESB $ dropped by half of ANH.
This caught my eye too......

It's interesting to see that the gross revenue diminished with each consecutive film while Lucas kept getting fatter and fatter.

Re: The Economics of Star War$
More than half of Lucas's earnings come from toys.
I probably spent less than $200 for tickets to all 6 movies and ended up spending more than $10,000 on toys.

Re: The Economics of Star War$
I think it's awesome that Lucas had the foresight to keep the majority of the profits (from his idea/creation) in his own pocket and out of Hollywoods. Say what you will about GL, but would it have been any better if Hollywood execs were allowed to call the shots?

Lucas is the smartest man to ever walk the earth, well maybe second to Mr Gates.

One of the greatest businessmen ever, and that's a fact. I wonder how much he made through ILM.
