HBO's Boardwalk Empire

I'm surprised there isn't a thread for this yet, HBO's been promoting it like crazy.

Martin Scorsese, Soprano's writer Terence Winter, Steve Buchemi, gangsters, prohibition...What more could you want?

Scorsese directs the first episode.

This and Eastbound and Down have me all wooded up. I'm actually more excited about Michael Shannon being in it than Buscemi.

I'm beyond excited for this. Buscemi is great and I love these old gangster pieces. I didn't really click with most of the HBO shows as of late except True Blood and Entourage so I'm hoping this one follows suit.

Been waiting for this for a long time. Cant wait, love that era of American history.

Everything about this show seems like it could be huge like The Sopranos.

this is definitely a building series. premier was awesome.

First episode was fantastic.

Thought it was decent. Will watch the next one.

Though they have to many damn original shows and every time you turn on HBO all they show are True Blood, Curb or Entourage.

Absolutely LOVED it! So many seeds planted... so many great places it can go. And from most reviews I read, the pilot is the weakest of the 4 episodes screened so w00t!!!

Best show I've seen on tv since John Adams.

The first show was amazing!

i thought it was a tad slow, but needed. Seeing as it is a Scorsese directed piece... he normally would need more time to get where he wanted... but he did well.

I loved it and can't wait for the next one.

Got about half way thru the first episode before I went to bed. As expected, what I saw was excellent! The production value on this show is amazing.

That's what amazed me the most. I watched the HBO half hour special and I really enjoyed the hidden historic gems that they placed in the show. It made me really appreciate the level of detail that they put into it.

One of them is how people dressed and the atmosphere. Apparently the boardwalk used to be a very exclusive place where the rich would gather. Even in 100 degree weather they would wear full suits and coats. Pretty damn cool!

THought the first episode was excellent. Looking forward to the rest of this season.

That is what worries me the most. If it is going to be ass expensive to make, be sure it won't be around for very long.
