Ouch!! That would suck if they did go out of business. There aren't many other options left for games and non-new release movies. Red Box kind of came out of nowhere and is seriously helping Netflix kill off Blockbuster.

Well,
TBH I was pissed @ Netflix's throttling practices, so I switched to Blockbuster online + store exchange program and it worked great for me for a while, until recently, when they decided to limit the # of exchanges and use the store exchanges as part of your online sub...

I might end up doing Netflix with the PS3 now...

I haven't set foot in a Blockbuster in close to 10 years. I won't be sad if they disappear.

I've only been in a blockbuster once

The most I ever rented from them was back in the laserdisc days. Once DVD came out and they were much cheaper, my renting days were pretty much over. I still rent some now since I'm trying to cut back on DVD/Blu-ray purchases, but it's through Netflix.

I personally will miss Blockbuster. No matter what Netflix does in terms of ease, I always felt something nostalgic knowing I could walk into a Blockbuster and have fun browsing for titles, reading the back of the box summary to my girlfriend and laughing. Of course Netflix lets you do this a lot better, and I have not been to a Blockbuster in a looong time, but I liked knowing it was there. Some of my favorite childhood moments would be when my mom or dad would say "Do you want to go to Blockbuster tonight?" Nothing was as fun (with the exception of going to the toy store) as going to Blockbuster and leaving with a movie you really want to watch. I see why they may close, but they were the premiere movie rental place, and I will miss them if they do. Of course, I miss my old mom and pop video rental place too. And don't even get me started on the pain I felt when Tower Records closed...(

True story:

I was driving with the fam and saw a Blockbuster advertising a "going out of business sale" in the window. We figured we could spend a few minutes and see what kind of deals were to be had. My son, who is 7, asked "What's Blockbuster?" I responded "A video rental store."

To which he asked: "What's that?"

The times they are a-changin'

im gonna miss the free popcorn at block buster....:monkey3

yes.........netflix FTW, been a member for years......:rock

I never liked Blockbuster, due to their policies around not renting certain films and enforcing 'family values'. I loved my old local rental place, but once they were bought up I switched to Netflix and have never looked back.

The only time I ever end up with something on very long wait is when I blow it and don't have a slot open on Tuesday morning for the new release.

what films (aside from the obvious porn) would Blockbuster not carry?

i remember those old ma and pop immigrant owned (when I lived in California) rental places in the 80s. i remember as a 13 year old being allowed to rent faces of death. :lol

Yeah, old video stores used to carry some jacked-up stuff. And the "back room" was usually standard :lol
