No Yuri, King, and Mai; No deal. No, I'll probably buy it anyway.
Fatal Fury was probably the best of the Street Fighter 2 knock-offs back in the day (though no Karnov like "Fighter's History"), so this might not be too bad.

I couldn't agree more. Capcom vs. SNK 2 stands as one of my favorite fighters of all time.

I never really liked the gameplay of all the SNK games (felt too stiff IMO) but I LOVE the character designs, and that applies to this game as well. Man, imagine if the SNK artists were in charge of the designs for SF III and IV. I can't even fathom how awesome that could be... 
As much as I love both games, I find some of the designs to be boring and lame (I hate a majority of the new character designs and alternate costumes in SFIV)
I'll probably be getting it to see if I can dabble again in the gameplay style, but I'm sad to see that Mai isn't in XII... she's such a staple of Fatal Fury/KOF.

She will be in XII. I'm pretty sure SNK recently revealed Mai will be in the console versions of KOFXII. Google!
i thought this was a nintendo ds exclusive looking at that video. SNK is way behind the times. utilize some of that 3D technology!
i'm going to wait til this releases on the ps2 and retail for 19.99 since you'll get the same graphics as the 360 or ps3 on a 2D fighter.

I think it's impressive and brave for a company to release a pure 2D, hand drawn game to cater to the hardcore fans of the series. How many people do you think would drool for another Castlevania or Metroid game in traditional side-scrolling gameplay that utilizes HD sprites, especially when Symphony of the Night and Super Metroid are pretty much universally lauded as the best games of the series?
And there's a difference between HD and non-HD sprite-based games. For example, Guilty Gear looked fantastic on a SDTV, but play it on an HDTV and it doesn't look so great anymore.
