Just came across this and found it interesting. Looks like they are putting the team together for Bioshock 2.

Senior Animator-Bioshock 2
2K Marin - Novato, California
https://www.creativeheads.net/affiliates/am/JobReview.aspx?JobID=5960
Job Description and Responsibilities:
Senior Animator

If you made the most awesome flip-books when you were a kid and were undeterred by the unimaginative people who told you that you could never do that for a living, but you continued to refine them until they intersected with computers and you actually started to pay the rent, you might be just who we’re looking for. As an animator with 2K Marin, you would be responsible for animating characters using a combination of keyframe animation and motion capture editing. You will work with our Lead Animator to figure out how best to tackle thousands of animations and transitions for multiple in-game characters. Additionally, you will interpret storyboards and animate them for action-packed and emotionally engaging narrative cut-scenes. You will probably also make faces and do silly walks in front of a mirror.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create in-game physical animation
• Create performance animation for cut scenes
• Interpret storyboards and produce animatics
• Assist Lead Animator in directing motion-capture sessions
• Create keyframe animation
• Clean-up and edit motion capture data
• Mentor less experienced members of the animation team
• Organize complicated sets of animation data
• Rig characters for animation
• Collaborate with Concept Artist and Character Modelers

Requirements:
Required Skills

• 3D character animation experience
• Experience with FK/IK switching, constraints, and facial rigs
• Mesh skinning/vertex weighting experience
• Ability to collaborate with peer-level Character Modelers and Game Designers
• Ability to take direction well
• Ability to take on large and complex tasks and self-manage on time delivery of those tasks.
• Able to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process
• Self-motivated towards solving creative problems
• Able to communicate animation concepts with other artists visually using quick thumbnail sketches or acting
Desired Skills and Pluses:
Extra Credit

• Experience creating storyboards
• Experience editing motion-capture animation data
• Experience with the Unreal Engine
• Experience with Havok
• Fluency with 3D Studio Max and Photoshop
• Fluency with Maxscript and facial rigging
• 5+ years game and/or film industry experience
• Strong 2D Animation skills
• Acting background
• Fine Art background
• Martial Arts experience

If I remember right, Ken Levine is not involved in this one... shame

Yeah that is a shame if he isn't involved.
If you look at the job description it looks as if it may not be an FPS since they want Motion capture, martial arts and an acting background. It will be interesting to see what direction they go with it though.

That's nothing to do with gameplay, this is for an animating job where animators have to understand how people move. Motion capture is used for practically every game now, and the other stuff is just things that will help the animator animate characters realistically.

I wish this were after I graduated, I'm not quite done with my degree yet to get a job so hopefully something good will be up when I get out of college.

There will always be a job out there when you graduate. Check this site out, they always have jobs posted https://www.creativeheads.net. You said you are in school, do you have any work you can post a link to so we can check it out?
As for this job, they are looking for very specific things, each job posting has different requirements and martial arts training is very specific. The characters in bioshock did not do martial arts. i understand where you are coming from when you say that though and i hope you are right and they keep the FPS aspect but this makes me think they may go to a more 3rd person perspective. But this is only my opinion and purely speculative.

I saved all the little girls - so I like my ending. :) The first time I played however, I got that rather depressing ending and I did NOT like that at all. :lol :lol
Yeah, I liked tha 'Happy' ending much more, I didn't feel like a sadistic bastard with that one. :D

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl No ^^^^. Who can feel good about killing little girls. That was such a twisted part of the story line. :lol :lol

Who could kill such a cute thing...

"Thank you mister, thank you...You're an Angel" :rock

Some of the splicers were kind of acrobatic/martial artsy

But then they have the same extra requirement for martial arts listed with the Character modeler position.

I'm in school right now for 3D animation, but I'll probably go into video games rather than movies, I don't have a portfolio yet (WIP) but here's something I did last semester:

:monkey2 They were so sweet when you saved them.......much better than getting some slimy black alien looking thing when you killed them. :lol :lol

I haven't done the bad ending yet. I just haven't had the heart to do it yet. My wife was watching when I go to the first little girl and asked me what I had to do with her? She thought maybe escort her somewhere. I said i either have to kill her or save her. She said... That's twisted and left the room. Needless to say I saved them all :monkey3
