So I made another top 99 list.. I did this once before.. I need to look it up to see what has changed. I know a big change was Empire slipping from number 3 to 4 giving way to Die Hard. Maybe its the season :)

I found it hard to figure out where to put Marvel films because they feel more like part of a series instead of individual films.. probably why my favs got clumped together.

This is a list of my fav films not necessarily what I think are the best movies ever made. I am sure there is one or two that i missed and I bet if I do this list in another couple of years some films might drop off.

Anyways... I dare any of you to do the same.

Best way to do it is divide your best films by genre then rank them out of 5 starts and then start adding them to your list as you see fit.

Good list. No Drive, No Country for Old Men or Sean Connery films?

Anyway, I think anything after a top 10 becomes impossible to keep track of or impossible to write down consistently just from memory without using some kind of sports bracket system, and even then it may vary depending on the day. Everything from 11 to 100 is probably interchangeable on any giving day, imo.

No Bond until Casino Royale at 87....? Out of 100, one Bond?

Die Hard beating out Empire is amazing.

Raiders of the Lost Ark at 7.... is also amazing. That it got beat by AWIL is... a shame.

I still can't get over no Bond. Given your films, and your age zone, Connery should have gripped your imagination around the same time as Jaws and Star Wars. My god, A Shot in the Dark got up there (1964)... but no Goldfinger or Thunderball or From Russia with Love?

My god man, The Burbs? No Connery... but The burbs?

:lol

Anyway, regardless of order, it is a (mostly) good list to give to an alien who wants to catch up on pop culture from the last 40 years. (mostly)

But 100 is not a challenging list. Its the Top 3... Top 5... even Top 10 movies of all time that are the hardest. Especially when asked to put into your favorite order.

I don't think I could put 100 films in order of my favorites.

Also surprised only Psycho made it to your 100. I actually find Psycho pretty boring... mostly.

I love me some Connery Bond.. But they all kind of blend together.. None of them stand out like the other films on my list.

I would say that I love the character more then I love any of the films. If the films could live up to how Connery plays the character then I would probably have them all on my list... Well accept for DAF... Yuck.

AWIL is just a film that I have forever loved. Other then SW and JAWS it is probably the film I have seen more then any other on this list.

I stand by that selection and its ranking.

Also remember Horror is my fav Genre. :)

I like both of those films but they are not films that I return to time and time again.

I kind of did the bracket thing..

I made up my top 10 or 20 of each genre..
Horror, Sci Fi / Fantasy, Action, Comic, Drama, War, Western, Comedy, etc.. I gave them a rating and went from there. Basically all my five star films had to make it to the list before the 4.5 and 4 star films.

:lol

Man I love the Burbs.. Its just one of those films I can have on repeat.. Its comfort film for me. :lol

Again I love Connery as Bond.. But I love the character more then the films.. All are solid films but just not top 100. I love them but just not as much as the others.

Most of these films I can watch when I am in the mood for that particular Genre..

I have to be in the mood for Bond films.. I actually don't think of them when I am in the mood for action.

Interesting.. I find it easy to come up with my top 10 of all time.. My top 10 anyways.. I been making list since High school :lol

I don't think I could put 100 films in order of my favorites.

Its I just go for it.. I start looking at my genre list and then I compare to other films and decide from there after I finish I look over the list and say things like.. "Do I really like Unbreakable more then Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"

Actually probably not.. I should go switch them :lol

Also surprised only Psycho made it to your 100. I actually find Psycho pretty boring... mostly.

Not sure what you mean by that first part.. You mean my only Hitchcock film..

Anyways I love Psycho.. Film scared the hell out of me as a kid and has always stuck with me.

Live Free and Die Hard and Dr. Sleep are mind blowing choices. :lol

:lol

Man I love Doctor Sleep.. Like really love it. One of the best sequels ever. The last 1/2 hour is not as good as the first 2 hours but its a wonderful film.

Live Free or Die Hard.. I think that film is criminally underrated as a action film. Its mostly practical stunts and really only goes super dumb with the jet scene.

Its easily the 2nd best Die Hard film IMO.

But I am not surprised to see those two films called out. I figured they would when I put them on there. :)

Do you think a new movie can surpass Jaws as number one?

There was one film I saw in theaters that I thought after watching it might take over JAWS as number 1... And I forgot to put it on my list :lol

Jurassic Park now at #28

Now it is not even in my top 10 now.. But back when I saw it the first time, like everyone else, I was blown away.

Still love it and its a 5 star all time classic.

As for any other film taking its place. IDK man.. I doubt it. I mean I really think JAWS is perfect. I want to live in Amity :lol

It hits all the right spots for me.

Its flawless.

Besides have you seen my room?? :lol :lol
