Netflix has been expanding its slate of comic book-based adaptations in recent months, with series like The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and The Umbrella Academy being some of their more successful recent fare. Now, it looks like Netflix is hoping to keep that streak going strong.

As Deadline reports that Netflix has cast the stars of the upcoming television series, Warrior Nun. Based on the American manga series Warrior Nun Arealaby Ben Dunn, the series will focus on a mysterious young woman named Ava. Waking up in a morgue with a strange artifact embedded in her body, Ava is targeted by the forces of heaven and hell. Both sides hope to use Ava, now part of an ancient organization known as Order of the Cruciform Sword, who have been ordained to fight against demons on Earth.

Alba Baptista (Jogo Duplo) will star as Ava, while Toya Turner (Incredibles 2) will portray Shotgun Mary, another demon hunter with a chip on her shoulder. Kristina Tonteri-Young (The Crocodile’s Gift) will play fellow Sister Warrior Beatrice, Lorena Andrea (Jesters) will take on the role of the haughty Sister Lilith and Tristan Ulloa (Terminator Phoenix) will play their conflicted leader, Father Vincent. Thekla Reuten (Red Sparrow) will play a local CEO whose new invention threatens the existence of the Church itself. Emilio Sakraya (Cold Feet) rounds out the main cast as JC, the ambitious but charming leader of a group of thieves that comes across Ava.

Simon Barry (Continuum) will serve as a showrunner and executive producer on the show, alongside Stephen Hegyes (White Noise) and Terri Hughes Burton (The 100). Amy Berg (Counterpart) is also involved in the project as a consulting producer.
