I believe that collecting the required materials is already tedious enough, so the crafting process can be streamlined without creating the whole occasion a "freebie."

The simplest fix is to add a "how many would you like to buy/make RuneScape gold ?" Question to Malady's dialog before she chooses your items and gives you your benefit and exp. She'll have to check that you have enough materials, which you have sufficient space in your inventory for the rewards, until she performs the transaction.

The cooler fix is to change Malady to utilize the tagging system, similar to Beefy's Kitchen. Give her a Sack (store NPC for purchasing things with Dark Tokens) and a Cauldron (crafting NPC for cooking things based on her recipes), and also the built-in operation of these kinds of NPCs will care for the quantity issue. The only tricky bit is that some of her items could be crafted two distinct ways. I'm not certain if the crafting system may handle two recipes that yield the same item.
