I always thought Marvel's original Star Wars adaptation looked out of place next to its subsequent adaptations of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, mainly because it was drawn by Howard Chaykin and the latter two were drawn by Al Williamson.

The Daily Star Wars website shows what might have been if Williamson had done the original SW adaptation too. These are apparently unpublished proofs he did in preparation for the SW newspaper strip (which Russ Manning took over, before Williams returned later).

You'll note that while Chaykin's version is a bit surreal and based on early concept sketches, Williamson's has the benefit of having actually seen the completed film:

Side note: Williamson *was* a consulting artist for Dark Horse's adaptation of the ANH Special Edition, but Eduardo Baretto did the main pencilling:
