Hey folks,
I finally received the first Vietnam era offering from DAM Toys last week and got him put together.

He is pretty well loaded with gear, sure there would have been room to include more
(an asbestos mitt would've been a nice touch) but what we get is mighty nice.

You get an amazing 1/6 wrist watch, a cigarette with sculpted smoke, four hands, a great set of jungle boots, 6 grenades, two packs of Marlboros, a bottle of insect repellent...

A gas mask and gas mask pouch. The mask seems a bit too stiff and big to fit into the pouch, but I honestly didn't try too hard.

A bottle of gun oil, a brush, two elastic helmet bands, and a nice metal M1 helmet with liner and Mitchell pattern cover.

His flak vest is quite nice. As it is the pockets do not open, but could be made to do so quite easily.
I had trouble getting the vest re-zipped, but with some patience and perseverance you'll be fine.

His ruck is another nice piece. The pouches are filled with a foam material to keep the shape.
Here's the ruck with his poncho rolled and tucked under the top.

He also comes with four plastic ammo belts (there's one in his ammo bag), a section of metal bullets & links, a web belt, pistol magazine carrier
(with two mags and ALICE clips), a .45 holster, three canteens (two canteen covers) a carabiner and K-Bar with sheath.

With my figure (and I've heard of some others experiencing this as well) the hooks on his equipment (canteens, holster, medical kit)
were actually installed backwards. It can take some fiddling-with to get the hooks out and re-orientated.
You may find it easier to actually make a small cut to make getting the hooks out easier, then gluing the cut shut after.

I really love the .45. I've had many before in 1/6 but I think this may be my favourite.
It comes with three magazines, and not only does the slide move, but so does the hammer, the slide-release lever, and the thumb-safety.

You can't have a machine gunner without his machine gun.

The M60 is another really nice piece. It feels pretty solid, has a move-able charging handle and shoulder rest, and decent feeling bipod.
The metal links fit well into the chamber, but can fall out pretty easily.

The figure itself has a great head sculpt, and fits into the helmet easily. He also has rubber muscle arms with an internal ratchet-like hinge,
which seem to have a pretty great range of motion and are supposed to be an improvement quality-wise over the previous DAM releases.

I didn't get previous DAM muscle bodies so, time will tell, I suppose.
The rubber shoulders may look a little wonky in some poses, longer sleeves on the tee-shirt may have helped hide it a little.

Some kitted-up poses.

I'm sure a great many of you, like myself, will be turning this guy into 'Animal Mother' from Full Metal Jacket,
a character people have been howling for for a long time (and who this release was pretty evidently based upon.)
Out of box, he's probably more historically accurate as opposed to film accurate.

With some gear changing, and an M69 Flak Vest, you're well on your way.

To summarize; this is a really solid entry into the Vietnam War era by DAM Toys.
The quality is pretty Dam great, and I definitely feel you get a pretty good bang for your buck with this fella.
I really hope that DAM continues with and expands on this era, and look forward to seeing what they do next.

If anyone has any questions about anything specifically, let me know and I'll do my best to help address them.

Yes, thank you for the great review. Seeing how others attach the equipment really helps out.

Thanks for the great review, Pickle.

Looks to be an overall quality figure.

Cheers F&F. It is pretty darn great, aside from some of the small issues I mentioned, but nothing that wasn't pretty easily remedied.

I have to say, it's really funny to see a figure of a character from an anti-war movie. :lol
