Default Josh & Benny Safdie's GOOD TIME aka masterpiece cinema starring Robert Pattinson

In a time where studios can't stop rolling out garbage popcorn its refreshing to watch real cinema at its absolute finest. That's what The Safdie Bros. have done here with their little crime film Good Time.

I stumbled across this trailer by accident a few months ago and waited anxiously for the film to premiere here so I could literally run out and see it. The trailer suggests a superb flick but I rarely trust trailers. Having seen the film I can say that it is just as good as this delicious trailer.

A character-driven story with complex beats brilliantly unleashes an unrecognizable Pattinson who commands the screen in a career-defining role that takes me back to Keitel's career-making turn in Mean Streets. You really can't take your eyes off the guy. I always saw promise in Pattinson (Cosmopolis) but here he gets to really cut loose. Same goes for his sidekick Buddy Duress, sure to become a great character actor in the years to come.

This is what making movies should be all about. A story that is 100% unpredictable, stylish and raw and one where every character feels realized in his/her small amount of screen time. Like Drive, The Guest and It Follows, The Safdies inject the flick with tons of awesome throwback vibes that instantly transport you to the days of great crime thrillers like The Getaway, The Seven-Ups, Charley Varrick & Thief. The shot composition and score are fascinating and seductive (I already have the LP on pre-order).

Watching a film like this in a 4K Digital Theater screen was pure cinematic joy. If its playing near you, do yourselve(s) a favor and feed your brain real cinema for a change. Good Time is an undeniable 10/10.

It does look interesting. Does he actually break his brother out while he's in the hospital?

    Spoiler Spoiler:

Its a fantastic film, man. A24 just keeps finding and distributing some of the best films being made today. As soon as I see their logo before a trailer starts I already know the chances of the film being great are high.
