Need help with Captain Miller customization (dyeing assault vest)

I have acquired a DID Captain Miller and weathered it but can't figure out what should be the color of the assault vest jacket. I must have tried various shades of kaki, brown, taupe etc. It's very hard from the movie stills to figure out the exact color because 1) the movie colors are toned down 2) the color seem to change from scene to scene.

These are the two colors that came out of my tests: Should it be greener or more brownish?

Much appreciated if you could share your dye formulas.

The real vests were different shades.. the one he uses in the movie is a light khaki. dont go greener

Would you happen to have a stock image of that vest with that color (not a still from the movie) by any chance??

It's a DID Miller heavily weathered but with a Soldier Story helmet and a custom base. I also modded the body. Padded shoulder, sanded chest and shortened the neck. I dyed the shirt brown also

I am about to start working on my own miller custom soon. I have never done one before, and I was curios if you have any particular resources or videos that were helpful regarding your cloth dying process. (to get the vest the brown you ended up with)

One thing for sure is whenever I dye, I used this chart to give me an idea https://www.ritdye.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/ColorRit_FINAL.pdf

Then from there it,s pretty much trial and error. Sometimes I will have to bleach and try again. For the vest I started with "Yellow 1 #287" (no idea why, but black + yellow = kaki!).

Good luck! It took me about 10 times. (and I'm not 100% satisfied). I should have noted the exact recipe.

After that, for the weathing I used black acrylic paint very diluted and apply here and there (bottom of the vest, around the sleeves, around the pockets). Use it very diluted to start with. Then let it dry. Then diltute it less and apply more. You'll see at first it will look like it has no effect then as you go it gets dirtier. The keyword here is "less is more". It has to be subtle.

Thanks so much! I saw a video on weathering by using alcohol and chalk pastels. I'll try that out as well just to see what happens.
