He was an amazing talent in a time with so much bad music. Only one way to send him off...

Oh man this is terrible, probably the greatest rock vocalist of our generation. I was really looking forward to seeing audioslave again. He will be missed for sure

Holy ****, I still listen to Sg and As

Rip

His vocal range was incredible, his lyrics were poignant . The first AudioSlave album could rip at your soul, I still listen to it.

I saw SG in concert a couple years ago and AS in 2005 and both shows were incredible! Cornell sounded so good in concert...I agree memyselfi it's a great album!

Saw Audioslave in 2005 during their small club tour and they were phenomenal, led by Chris Cornell's incredible vocals, a highlight of which was a solo performance featuring Chris, his guitar, and his phenomenal voice singing "Blackhole Sun". An amazing talent. He will be missed. For my money, "I Am The Highway" is one of the best contemporary rock songs.

Cornell, and the music he helped craft was a huge influence on me as a teenager. This is brutal news. Temple of the Dog is still one of my favorite albums. I wish I could have seen them tour, though I was fortunate to see Soundgarden many years back. Rest in peace.

Total shock this morning. Has to be drugs or sui. I bet we see a bunch of Black hole Sun, Outshined, etc songs being played more.

The woman who raised his daughter after he and his wife divorced is a longtime member here. I have a really bad feeling that her world just got turned upside down.

This guy just keeps ****ing with that little girl's head. I hope it wasn't drugs, because **** his fop rockstar ass for being a such a sad sack of ****. Not that suicide wins him father-of-the-year, but that at least has no hedonistic payoff.

My condolences to the people hurt by this.

So sad. He was a very talented man who had a great vocal range. Hearing Cash sing rusty cage made the song even more poignant and showed some of the song writing talent. Loved Audioslave too. My favorite bands from the grunge scene are no more. Nirvana, Alice and Chains and now Soundgarden. Sucks for sure. I liked Pearl Jam's 10 but never really followed them

I am not a huge fan, but the man was hugely talented. I loved his songs from the Singles OST. "Seasons" is a favorite of mine.

Such a loss. He and Soundgarden were suppose to appear here memorial day weekend for Rocklahoma. I've been a fan of his since my teens and never really stopped listening to his music. Easily in the top ten of rock vocalists. I'll miss hearing new music from him. Sad.

Another mega talented performer gone too soon. So much worse if we find out this was self inflicted.

I read that one of his bandmates found him in the bathroom with "something around his neck."

I know he had children too. Sad.

The news of this came as a shock to me, because I was listening to Black Hole Sun while sipping on some chai tea moments before. It's surreal looking at his Twitter feed, because he updated it just yesterday while on tour in Pennsylvania.

Anyway, I was introduced to Soundgarden just before I started college, and I even bought several of their CDs the other day, including a few of Chris Cornell's singles (like the single for Casino Royale). It really sucks, when I was just getting back into Soundgarden, that this happened......

Nirvana. Alice in Chains. Stone Temple Pilots. Soundgarden. So many singers from my favorite 90s bands are gone. :(
