Years after DiD releases their set of 5 Daimyos, we have kinda see a drought in Samurai type 1/6 figures with bits and pieces here and there.
Looks like COOModel is going ahead to launch a brand new series figures based on this era.

I'm most likely gonna get Sanada Yukumura.
Estimate release in Q2 2017.

First to be announced :

Sanada Yukimura

It had been 9 years since DiD released the 5 Daimyo. Now we actually have two companies (ACI & COO) doing samurai warriors! Since both ACI & COO making Yukimura, it'll be a test to see which samurai reigns supreme. Currently, I feel COO's Yukimura looks better overall; however, ACI made better Yukimura's helmet because the antlers look more real.

If you ask me, I think Coomodel's Samurai is a little off...

Helmet looks more Mongolian

than Japanese

The strings on the armor didn't look very accurate, never seen such big "crosses"

And those studs on the Haidate, I think they were supposed to be Pyramids like... now more like stars

I thought the Kusazuri are usually 7 pieces, 3 on the front and 4 on the back... seems they only made 5

Because the ACI ones are so historically accurate?

Well, confined by the illustrations by the Japanese illustartor Hiroyuki Suwahara, which based on historical relics and records, I do believe ACI's are more historically accurate, referencing actual armor allegedly worn by the general / warrior. Also, considering they were licensed by the Japanese, and I do think the Japanese themselves would have certain respect to their own heritage, ACI can't really make up stuff without their approval, hence my perception of ACI's are more accurate and truthful then Coomodel, which I doubt if they have done as much research... judging from their first deer horn prototype...

I am not sure they based anything on historical reference...

I suspect their Yukimura armor is loosely based on this display piece, with some additional decorations of unknown origins:

Right, i'm sure the real oda had a pimp dracula cape stashed in the closet somewhere. I think we can agree that both have embellishments, and in the first place coomodel and their supporters have never claimed theirs are supposed to be more historically accurate.

I don't think you can go wrong with what either company has put out, they're both exceptional; but given you're past connections with ACI i think it's fairly obvious what these posts are really about.

However, when it comes to Samurai, since it is a topic close to my chest, I just wish somehow things can be better wherever they could, by any producers... on Oda's pimp dracular cape, I surly wouldn't put it on when I have it on hand eventually, but like what I said, they were confined by the illustration with respect to the artist... not complaining.

Yes . Type ACI toys ON THE SEARCH BAR WHEN VISITING BBTS . There you will find the samurai your looking for .

Looks like COO Model is doing some new samurai. They were shown at SHCC 2018 but I can't find any better photos. Looks like they are doing a Date Masamune 2.0?
