I just saw this announced today as a SDCC exclusive. Apparently there's a regular version coming out that will be sold at retail. Kinda cool, but I'm afraid that the price on this guy might be a bit more than I'd want to pay. I think we saw this months ago as well, but I'm not sure at what event...

Why would anyone buy an issued "prototype? It's no longer a prototype once it has a factory run.

And it was never really a prototype either, they just made that up to justify making an Aliens warrior figure in the style of the original 1979 Kenner Alien. I'm not sure who this figure is for; vintage-style toy collectors who are also Aliens fans? Because anyone who wants an 18" Aliens warrior would probably do better with the Neca 1/4 scale.

I would probably buy a painted version of this that is similar to the vintage version.
