Here are some comparison photos between Ben Choi and Creg Customs BB Cowl (sorry for the potato photo quality)

Ben Choi Cowl
- Comes with two faceplates, and movable eyes
- Awesome paint job
- Cowl is a little too wide imo

Creg Customs
- Cowl is very movie accurate
- Don't really like the paint job
- Faceplate can sit a little more flush

If you also have these cowls please share your photos :clap

Its really strange cause I think the CREG version is more accurate, and I have to say, I'm also a fan of CREG's stuff, but the position of the eyes, along with the not so flattering mouth expression plus the mouthpiece not fully recessed...I don't think it looks as good as the original proto.
I was hoping it would look like a shrunken down version of the 1/4 EB Begins.

Ben's cowl is not as accurate, but it looks kinda like it was based on those movie rendering of the costume...I think it looks cooler.

I got my CREG's sculpt yesterday. Yeah, that paintjob doesn't do CREG's sculpt any favors.
A real paintjob could do wonders for the sculpt, I think.
My unpainted one went to Nathan, so that'll improve it a hundredfold.
I may try modifying the mouthplate area so it sits in further in.

With those improvements, I think the sculpt can be spot-on great.

How are you planning to modify the mouthplate? I'm wondering if I can sand the back of it....

Yes, that and/or carving a bit out of the cowl area where mouthplate rests.

I did the latter to MRM's TDK cowl so that the robbiethepainter mouthplate would fit.

It worked great. Before that, it completely stuck out on one side.

I have the MRM cowl and GREG customs

my thoughts
I like the MRM cowl in terms of the expression because of the squinting eyes and the high cut of the cowl
whereas the GREG has the more accurate cut on the cowl and has accurate cape clips

thoughts?

Not wanting to bash but I think they are both off, just as good as the original hot toys as in they look like it but not quite it.
Enterbays effort nailed it

Dean made his from 3D scans from bale in the cowl, you don't get much more accurate than that

Looks like the jakks 19 inch £35 toy

Agreed; that generic paintjob makes it look like a cheap toy.
That whole mouthplate is so bright, even makes it hard to take decent photo too.

I've seen a few excellent paintups of CREG's cowl, so it can look great.
Just need to wait till mine gets back from the painter.

Yeah maybe that's it, the paint job on that one is terrible.
I'm not skilled enough to attempt that but with a decent paint job I could see how it could look good
