My ever changing collection

Decided to start a new thread for my collection as the old one was started in 2009, was never updated and is now missing photos

A lot of content was missing from the original thread, which I will be sorting through and attempting to get in some kind of order to put in here. Unfortunately I am missing a few photos so there may be some large jumps between time periods.

I will be starting with overview shots and will amend posts as I go through my collection and find close ups of some of the collection
(Some pics are pretty poor I'm afraid)

Having moved into this house in the latter half of 2008 I was only just starting to get back into collecting and so the collection was rather eclectic.

At the beginning of 2011 I turned the smaller spare room into an office (cos being a house husband meant I really needed an office lol)

Decided to move my small but growing collection into the office
March 2011


The office didn't last long however as in the September we found out we were expecting our daughter Mia and so would need the space for a nursery. Thus, the collection moved back into the (rather bare) lounge.

Bought some DVD units, so had a small move around

The beginning of 2012 was basically just additions to the collection, mainly Ghostbusters figures from MattyCollector (I do NOT miss buying stuff from that website)

Halfway through 2012, I decided to make better use of the small area overhanging the loung on the top floor and turn it into a small collection room. I also took the hard decision to cash in on my Gambit Premium Format at this point, selling it for over £600 and using the funds towards a new TV, I believe it has since passed through the hands of a couple of people that frequent these forums

At the start of 2013 I sold off all of the Mattel Ghostbusters figures as the scale was no longer one I wanted to collect (the rest of the smaller scale stuff was soon to follow), I decided to concentrate on 1/6th and used the funds towards this goal. Silver Surfer 1/4 scale was also sold (to RobertoBagg10 from this very forum - go check out what he's done with it HERE!)

At this point I really started to step up my Avengers / Dark Knight collections and was pretty set on my overall collection being superhero based

Towards the end of 2013, the collection once again moved to the lounge and it was at this point the I finally started moving away from the Ikea Detolf to the Billy bookcase system as I felt it would give a cleaner look for the figures, would hide away a lot of clutter, and also felt a bit more like "real" furniture (I am after all, not going to collect forever).

In December 2013 I snagged a second hand display case from one of the facebook groups with the thought that it could house my Avengers

January 2014

My affinity for Star Wars really started to kick back in (after I had resisted for so, so long!) and I picked up Vader at the start of the year, then DX07 Bespin Luke, bought a Medicom C2PO and repurchased both Medicom R2D2 and Sideshow Stormtrooper - possibly the beginning of the end!!

Also had a background printed for my Avengers display, which definitely improved the display case.

August 2014 - Finally framed a couple of prints I had picked up

Late 2014 saw my finally use every ounce of my DIY skills to hang the prints, along with the print of an awesome pice of artwork I won from a member on AVForums (which has now been passed on to another member due to having to redecorate the front bedroom for my daughter)
I was on a lucky streak, and also won a TDW Loki from Sideshow on Twitter, and had a second Facebook raffle win of TDW Thor from Lee at TheGoodTheBadandTheRobots having won a Diecast War Machine 2.0 earlier in the year!

December 2014 - Bye Bye Avengers Loki, hello Robo!

The Start of 2015 was to be the real start of Star Wars collecting going forward with the release of Hot Toys Stormtrooper 2 pack, I had them on preorder but when they hit Hong Kong earlier than expected I had to have them (with a second pack soon to follow!)

The start of April saw a (very brief) respite from Star Wars as the Chitauri twinpack arrived - Loki finally had an army!! Then it was back onto Hoth for Luke and Han, plus a TaunTaun and Imperial Probe Droid arriving along with ED209 to battle Robocop, and Age of Ultron Captain America to replace my Avengers version - this is definitely the definitive version of Cap released so far IMO (he soon commandeered the Tauntaun for a vital mission).

April to June 2015

There have been a LOT of figures pass through the collection, many have gone on to find good homes with other collectors, I would have loved to keep every single one of them but both space, budget and changing tastes have meant many changes.

Which brings me to the final deliveries of 2015, and how the collection looks as of now - ready to start receiving all the goodies to come in 2016

Thanks all, I'm looking forward to adding to it this year (will mainly be Star Wars by the looks of it). I'm hoping to add a large Besta unit to the end of the room to house Robo & ED, and the Terminators, freeing up some space within the Billy units

What Han Solo in carbonite is that? It looks very nice and can go in anywhere. Where the Jabba one is very much Jabba's palace. Great shots all round.

It's a repainted Kenner Carbonite. Can be picked up pretty cheap on eBay

Great looking displays, love seeing how it has evolved and moved round your house as the collection has grown over the years and changed with your tastes.

Had been looking at doors for my very old Billy bookcase earlier... wish I had room for more units or something like the Besta, maybe if we ever move house or I can somehow move my collection from the smallest room (which is also the office... tiny space)
