I can recommend this retailer, guys. Ordered the BTTF figure the early hours of Monday morning (about 4am...don't ask, I'm just weird that way ), received an email a couple of hours later saying my order would be shipping that same day via 24hr recorded delivery, tracking number quickly followed and had it in my hands Tuesday afternoon. Fast response, great communication and a fair price to boot. Pretty impressive all round.

Thanks Collectorcol! Good to be here!

Re: Planet Action Figures

Hi Aaron - Genuine feedback - I think your pre-order page is a bit unfriendly. For example...

Please Read!! Deposits are non refundable. They are there for a reason. If they were refundable there would be no point in having them.

I get where you're coming from, but it's a bit patronising.

Also if the payment is declined you have 48 hours or you lose the pre-order. Seems a bit harsh. Your About Us page is at odds with your Pre-Order page.

Just out of interest, why have you chosen to take payment a week before the release date rather than when you have it in stock. With all the problems with certain other retailers I think most people would prefer to pay when it is ready to be sent to them to avoid the problems other stores are having.

I think you need to understand the current feeling among collectors. When people can order from other retailers, pay by installments and have 4 months to pay once in stock, I think you need to ask yourself why they would change to a new company where you can pre-order but have to pay before you even have the stock, with the risk of your order being cancelled within 48 hours f there's any problem.

Your prices are good, but I think that's becoming less of a priority these days after all the problems with OSB. That's my opinion anyway, others may disagree.

Re: Planet Action Figures

Hi Captain Hindsight,

We always welcome opinions and constructive criticism so firstly thank you.

The Pre-Order page is on a to-do list for updating and re wording as we also are introducing payment plans.

When seeing the statement about deposits on a site that's not your own I agree it comes across a little sarcastic and patronizing it is something I will look into this evening.

The 48 hours (Sometimes 72 hours) is a standard at most similar retailers in the same sector. Obviously If a customer emailed us with a reason as to why a payment has not been made we will work with the customer to keep it as long as possible. The profit margin on these products is minimal, so unpaid orders have a huge impact on retailers and unfortunately we do not have the facility to stock a large sum of unpaid products. I will look into increasing it to 72 hours although a simple email to us explaining your situation and we will hold it longer.

We take payment before arrival so we can be in front of large orders and to ease strain, I have been in discussion regarding this over the last few days and the way this is done has been changed which I will update this evening. We will email a payment link three days before dispatch that way the 72 hours will reach the release day so a customer can actually pay on release day when we are ready to dispatch if they wish.

As for customers having other options from other retails we all do things slightly different, we are not competition, just an alternative, we are a fresh company and we will learn along the way what the customer wants. Although being in retail for many years this is our first time in the business of working mainly in Pre-orders.

Again I appreciate the opinions and have 100% taken on board your points and will revise the Pre Order information this evening.

Many Thanks

Aaron

Re: Planet Action Figures

No worries mate.

I think maybe there's a misunderstanding from me about when you take the money, when you said release date I thought you meant the release date given by Sideshow/Hot Toys, which as you no doubt know is rarely accurate. If you're taking the money just before you know it's arriving then fair enough. A lot of people are getting burned paying for stuff that's about to arrive that still hasn't turned up months later. It was just a warning because if you take any money up front on the basis of things arriving and they don't, your rep's going to take a big hit.

Good luck with the business.

What are the shipping costs? I couldn't see it mentioned, I might be being blind!

Re: Planet Action Figures

Thanks a lot, Your name is awesome by the way :wink1:

Re: Planet Action Figures

Hi Aaron,

Welcome to the forum. It's nice to know that UK collectors have another dealer to turn to for our figure obsession.

I've had a look at your site and like the simple layout with nice big pictures! My only criticism is on the price layout - every price that is on the shopping page is crossed out and labelled "sale". For me, this follows the Forbidden Planet type of price illustration where their vastly inflated prices (pound sterling price higher than Sideshow's dollar price!) are listed as marked down. We're you really planning to sell the figures at the crossed out price? If not, I personally prefer to see the price that you want.

Best of luck with your shop!

Re: Planet Action Figures

Hi Ipodimusprime,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Also thanks for your feedback, the crossed out price is the R.R.P supplied to all dealers, we simply have it there more for reference than anything else. The site builder automatically puts the horrible sale circle on all the pictures and we have requested for it to be removed and are just waiting for the code to be changed. I will admit its horrible and we have never been a fan! Hopefully in a few days it will be gone!

Thanks

Aaron

Re: Planet Action Figures

It's actually against trading law to show a sale price if you have not previously sold it at that price for a considerable time.

Not that this stops people from doing it (that's not aimed at you Aaron).

Hi, it's information that is worth knowing, Thanks. We have had a change with the way products are now listed, no sale signs and only one price :wink1:.

Re: Planet Action Figures

You're fine to show the RRP and then a "you save" amount from that, because that's just showing what you've discounted from the RRP. Pretty standard sales technique which will not fool any knowledgeable collector, but may look good for casuals. The RRP is actually accurate Ipodimusprime, it's not based on currency conversions. It just so happens that nobody sells that at the RRP, thankfully! You should see the RRP on photocopiers, it's often like RRP £22,000, our price £4,500. they really don't mean anything.

It's just the "sale" bit that you have to be careful about.

Re: Planet Action Figures

Thanks for the info Cap. RRP sounds like a ridiculous joke! Also kudos to Aaron for his handling of constructive criticism regarding his site. My main point was that nobody seems to sell at the ridiculous crossed out prices (not even Forbidden Planet) so as a collector, I just want to know how much a dealer wants for a figure. As consumers, we see enough " special offers" (that usually aren't) from supermarkets and the like every day, so it would be nice to get away from that in our hobby. I do take your point about enticing casual buyers though.

I have a pretty good idea how much the going rate is for most stuff that I collect and who I buy from is not based purely on price alone - I also look at service, communications, location, returns policy etc. etc. - cheapest isn't always best!
