The recovery of Luke's lightsaber was "a story for another time".

That other time is now, in the comics:

The stars wars comics by marvel have been great so far they fill in the backstory very nicely.

I dont know why the hype is around an Obi Wan movie which would be great but the darth vader comic would make for a great adaptation

Can you imagine them saying this to people back then.

Yes we will tell the story of how that orange thing got Luke?s lightsaber. In comic form!

Well Maz has a way of making it sound like it could be an interesting story but she probably just bought it off of someone. Makes for a boring story and such a waste. Someone waiting for the saber hilt at the bottom of the Cloud City shaft is really lame also though.

Someone in Jedi robes waiting to catch Luke's saber (and his hand would have still been attached) is beyond stupid so yeah that's a hard no on me accepting it as canon, lol. I much prefer the more mundane (and logical) explanation that it was eventually discovered by a salvage team who sold it to Maz. Giving everything that happens off screen some ridiculously contrived backstory is so lame.

All Maz said to Han was "that's a story for another time" which makes sense because why would she waste time with such a story when there are literal TIE Fighters flying overhead. Sure she could have said "I bought it" but then that would raise more questions "From who???" and so on so just saying I'll tell you later was the most prudent response given the circumstances.

I've been hoping that it's Best Girl ever since I saw that, but I'm not getting my hopes up...

    Spoiler Spoiler:

I'll say ONE (1) good thing about the new Disney Canon though. They fixed Vader in the Marvel funnybooks. He's no longer a whiny loser, but is actually pretty badass and his relationship with Sheev is better as well. I remember the old EU/Legends and its pants-on-head-retarded stuff, like Vader's suit keeping him nauseated 24/7, plunging needles into his skull, burning his limbs and tons of other edgy crap. And despite all that, Vader was a suicidal wreck who spent 24/7 being a crybaby but not killing himself for... reasons.

The Marvel books actually gave him some drive again, and I like that. He fixes his own suit, the suit itself makes him stronger and isn't a torture device, him and Sheev follow the Sith Doctorine, Vader has his own agendas, and so on and so forth. It's nice to have him be an actual character again. Hell, I'd even argue that the old, 80s Marvel Comics Vader was better than the sorry excuse of a servant that the EU one was.

It gets sillier. Before he built his green saber, Luke had a yellow one.

Well yellow and blue make green. I think your picture of the Luke figure is correct in why marvel gave him a yellow saber.

    It gets absurder and absurder...

"Padme" returns and Leia gets frozen in carbonite soon after Han.
