FAQ

I’VE JUST PRE-ORDERED WOLFENSTEIN, WHERE’S MY DOOM BETA KEY?
An insert will be included inside your boxed copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order. This insert will include a key code along with code redemption instructions. Once the key code is redeemed, you’ll be registered to participate in the DOOM beta once it begins. Check back at wolfenstein.com/doom for updated information.

WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE OF WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER?
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be available on May 20, 2014 in North America and May 23, 2014 in Europe for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

HOW DO I REDEEM MY CODE?
Once you’ve received your boxed copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, simply return to wolfenstein.com/doom and follow the code redemption instructions located on the enclosed DOOM beta insert. Once you enter your code you will be asked to provide a valid email address. We'll contact you at a later date through the email address provided with further instructions on the DOOM beta.

DO I NEED TO SPECIFY WHAT PLATFORM I WANT TO PLAY THE DOOM BETA?
Prior to the start of the DOOM beta, you will be contacted at the email address provided during the code redemption process. At that time, we will provide additional information on timing, available options, and other important news and information. Beta timing and platform options are subject to Bethesda Softworks’ discretion.

WHAT IS THE DOOM BETA? HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
We will be providing more information on the specific content and duration of the beta test at a later time.

WHEN DOES THE DOOM BETA START?
Although you’ll receive the DOOM beta key code with your copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the DOOM beta won’t begin until a later, yet-to-be announced date. We will contact you with news and updates surrounding the start of the DOOM beta via the email address provided during the key code redemption process.

WILL THERE BE AN OPEN BETA FOR DOOM?
Timing and availability of future beta programs for DOOM is to be determined. The only current way to ensure access is through pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order. We will be providing more information on additional beta tests, if any, at a later time.

Hope it is better than 3.
3 was not a "Doom" in my opinion. 3 was just another dark corridor shooter with a demon here and there.
I missed the amount of enemies to slaughter from the originals.

Same here, I got really excited when I heard this, but now I'm reigning in my expectations. I wish that FAQ sounded a little more certain of...anything really. I could see people preordering just for the beta and having to wait two years before it's actually ready. I guess time will tell if this is the real deal or just another story in Doom 4's increasingly Duke Nukem Forever-like development. And the Doom series doesn't really have a set in stone multiplayer structure, Doom 3's was tacked on bs, so I'm wondering what this will even be. If it was like the spiritual successor to Quake III: Arena we never really got I'd be cool with that, I mean releasing it under the Quake name would be better, but that's pretty much my favorite game of all time so I'll take what I can get. Anyway, a lot of if's. I was planning on preordering this game to begin with but I'd prefer a statue or something over a vague promise. It still seems id's been dead since Zenimax bought it, and now even Carmack's left, so I really should lower my expectations even more. But we'll see!

I actually liked the direction Doom 3 went in. I know Doom should have more quantities of enemies, based on the originals, but I don't think that translates as well any more.

It's like how they sold Serious Sam, as a return to the FPS glory days of killing millions of enemies. But then twenty minutes in, I was bored.

I'd like 4 to balance Doom 3 with the original series. Keep the oppressive fear of 3 with some of the larger enemy numbers from the originals.

Does anyone else find it weird they're announcing a beta but there aren't any kind of details about the game? I wonder if this has anything to do with pre-sales figures for Wolfenstein?

This will probably be like the Halo Reach beta with Crackdown. The beta wasn't available until months later after release.

Doom 3 was pretty damn fun.

I've read some articles that say it's not really DOOM4, but only DOOM, cause D4 wasn't living up to the internal expectations so they scratched it up and restarted the whole thing, word on the street is that it's a reboot.

I think they were having trouble initially but Bethesda forced them into line and they should be doing just fine. I know some people (I'm in the Dallas area) and I've heard good things.

Hopefully they have more than just dark hallways and a few monsters like 3.
I enjoyed playing Doom 1, 2, and Final Doom more than 3.
