This comes in as a great surprise! Let's be honest, NECA's official promo pic of the 1/4 Thor looks like he just got out of rehab. The actual product looks very decent (without leaving the box).

As we have come to expect, NECA's large scale figures usually come with nice head sculpt, but leaves something to be desired in the painting department. This is exactly the case here. The head is not 100% spot on, but clearly recognizable and look quite well from certain angle (the spaghetti hair does distract a little), the paint job is a bit weak, too bland IMHO, some shading may help. We've seen people repainted the 1/4 Man of Steel Superman head, and it looks awesome. I believe same thing can be done here.

The armor is where this figure shines, it's really well done. The complicated design is faithfully reproduced with all the details and excellent paint job. The color is eye-catching and you can clearly see how they layer on each other. Great stuff!

I noticed this figure is considerably heavier than the other recent NECA 18" figure (Iron Man, Dutch, Gipsy Danger), maybe because of the Mjolnir? :lol

Haven't had the chance to break it out of the box, but it appears to be a very solid figure. ENJOY! More pics here:

Looks good.. But 1/4 figures are too big for me.. I do have a couple of them though, namely Robocop and the Endoskeleton.

As for the headsculpt, I don't see it resembling Hemsworth.... And thats a very angry expression...

For $80-$90 a piece, I think the HS is reasonably well done, definitely far from the level of Hot Toys or Enterbay, but like I said you can clearly tell whom they are trying to portray, also with better paint job (especially the eye area) the resemblance could have been a lot better.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad I'm not overly impressed and expected more from NECA. I'm hoping their Hulk (if made) will blow me away.

I am not super impressed with the sculpt on this one in the face. What has been going wrong with NECA these days in the sculpting department? Some 1/4 figures from the past look way better, particularly with Beetlejuice and Gandalf. The armor detail looks nice though.

The details just seem really rough, and the likeness is just super far off. The only NECA products that have please me as of late are their Iron Man (not the unmasked one) and their life-size E.T.
