ELVIS1976 - LOTR custom thread•ARAGORN

Probably my fav charachter from LOTR. LURTZ.

Planning on this one for quiet some time now.



I studied a lot of pics and draw all the pattern for the armour on illustrator.

The metal part have been made using styrene and all the rest is real leather. Took quiet some time to get the right proportions.




My custom Ringwraith.






Been working on this since a few weeks.

There isn't much things left out of the ss release.
Head was made by Erick Sosa. It was a Eastern Promises head.
I shaved the head and added the beard, implanted real hair.

Duster is from DID retailored, painted green and weathered.
Jerkin is form SS also retailored and weathered
SS blue shirt, belt and accessories.
Reworked DID boots

Looks awesome. I was planning the same. It looks like you used the model kit for the HS. I know Applause did one and the HS looks really good but I don't know if it will be the right scale. I can't wait to see the rest of it.

Here's some other project i have been working on.

Finished gluing the hair and bear on Gimli. So far so good.
Now I need to do all the braids and shorten it a bit and then style it.







Some more progress on Gimli and alos some work done on Boromir's outfit.

OH MAN!!!! SIMPLY AMAZING! I've never been a big fan of the root hair but these look amazing. Gimli is fantastic. If you ever start taking commissions again please please please let me know my Boromir is pleading for it and all I have seen is a tease picture. I always believed Sideshow messed up by not putting in his cloak. Seeing you finish him is going to be bitter sweet to see. I have upgraded Aragorn and Legolas and a possible upgrade to my Gimli might come from Asmus but sadly Boromir is stuck in his straight from Sideshow appearance.

Doing a Lurtz vs Aragorn or Lurtz vs Boromir setup would be unbelievable.

Just out of curiosity's sake how many hours do you think it took to make Lurtz? From my guess you had to make all the armor, sculpt basically everything yourself. Unbelievable. Maybe you could send your resume to Asmus and help them out so we can get some Uruk Hai!

Thanks a lot my friend. I will let you know if I want to make another Gimli. But gluing hair is very time consuming. I think it took me a good 6 hours just to glue all the hair on gimli. As for Lurtz he is 50ù finished and so far I think it took me 10 hours or so.

I will def going for Lurtz vs Boromir. I want to make Aragorn vs Ringwraith

Funny you're speaking about Asmus. A week ago ACI send me a message asking to share some more info about my Lurtz and Aragorn.

It's a smart move on their part. They look fantastic and you have all ready done a ton of the research for them.

That's not Sideshow chain mail on Boromir is it? I just noticed it.

Good catch. That isnt the awfull ss chainmail. I used two pairs of aci real chainmail sleeves.

You know before this thread I actually used to be satisfied with my Sideshow collection well at least mostly satisfied.

It's neat to know that ACI is looking at your customs. Hopefully Asmus and ACI can manage to put out figures up to your quality. I still can't get over the small details in your figures. You really have come a long way from when you just started out posting customs on these boards (they were still great back then too but you have raised yourself to a whole new level in recent times).

Gimli almost complete. Need to add a touch of weathering here and there.
He has now his real chainmail. The chainmail is done by a french guy who do awesome work. Handmade and really impressive.

That just makes me angry. Its too good. Already Asmus Gimli is obsolete.

Commissioned that coat from Geewiz custom.
I must say they did a bang up job.

I gave it a good weathering and recoloured it a bit.
I did modify the body quiet a lot though.

The base is a ttm19. I shaved down the inner neck socket to make it look a bit slimmer.
I switch the arm with tt slim arm and alos shaved the pec and side of the body.
I wanted to remove all the bulck creat by the different layers of clothing and to look natural.

Yeah they are just amazing. So when are we going to see the rest of Boromir and are you going to tackle making Faramir or the hobbits?
