Great thread, Nut!

Here are some suggestions: Google Book Search.

It's amazing how many classics are on this list. It's also sad that a banned book list even exists. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite books of all time, btw.

A Clockwork Orange and Slaughterhouse Five are among my top favorites... Crazier than the movies, thats for sure!

LOTR and The Hobbit are my two faves. I also like To Kill a Mockingbird, Where the red fern grows, John Grisham Novels, 1984, and many others.

Josh, To Kill a Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, and The Great Gatsby are my favorite literatures. Can't forget Death of a Salesman!

I've never read the others you listed but I know they are considered great works. I am also enjoy reading the SW novels.

thought Catcher in the Rye was a great book too! :duff

By the way... Times have changed I guess because when I was in high school I swear about 80% of those books were assigned reading in my english classes. :lol

I remember when we were reading To Kill a Mockingbird when I was a freshman in High School. We would read the book aloud and when we would come to the n-word the teacher made us replace it with something else. I understand not wanting people to say that word, but in the context of the book the word fits. If she didn't want us saying the word aloud, maybe she shouldn't have had us reading it aloud in class.

These are books that have, at one time or another, been banned in the past, which is perhaps why they are on the required reading lists! I LOVE 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and ALL Kurt Vonegut books.

ait. "Where the Red Fern Grows" is on a banned list??!! that's ******* nuts. named my 1st dog Old Dan :monkey2

surprised i didn't see Animal Farm on a list tho.
