What does it mean "I have to pass one to earn it for you?". How many professions require a urine test of their employees? Is this an American thing?

A lot do. I've had to pass one pre-employment for just about every job I've ever had.

I see an article on how a soldier has to pass a urine check to go on the battlefield to pick up there wage......

Quick story , i was at the grocery store last week with my girlfriend getting meals for the week and we were waiting in line at the check out for like 20 mins

We already had our whole cart unloaded on the belt .

These 4 asians (husband, wife,baby and mother ) in front of us had 4 seperate orders .

Of course they were paying one order with a credit card

The milk and bread and juice was with WIC checks

the third baby formula and other stuff was welfare

and the 4th waas with cash , meats and gross things

so i say to my GF LOLZ i bet they drive a brand new car and she carries a Coach purse jokinly


and BAM the dooosh had a big ass brand new Coach purse , of course i aked my GF does it look real and is it , her being a Coach expert because she freaking owns about 20 of them . It was real.

Now i'm standing there getting pissed off.

We finally check out and heading to my truck , i pack up the groceries and as i'm going to return the shopping cart to the corall i almost get run over by this brand new beautiful white Lexus .

I look at the people inside to tell them , are you F^$kin serious , learn to drive idiots ,

and its the God Damn Asians that were in front of us in line

I couldn't make this sheeeet up

The only jobs I reckon a urine test should be required of employees are those that involve public safety and upholding public ideals, ie police officers, pilots etc.

Seriously?? Urine tests? WGAS if the bank clerk processing my cheque or the teacher teaching my kids or the guy directing the movie I'm watching sparked up a spliff or snorted some coke last weekend?

Screw that. People picking up a welfare check are easy targets. What's the difference between recipients wasting their money on crack or smack and those who waste it in other ways - gambling, alcohol, cigarettes, whores... nup. Wreaks of nanny-state bollocks to me.

In the USA 99% of the jobs requires a drug test/criminal check and credit check before you get hired,so the free loaders get theirs welfare check without a problem.

Here in the Uk, people not in work get very well looked after on benefits to the point where they are getting nearly the same money unemployed.
Would be nice to see tax payers money going to those that really need it and not lazy people that pick up their cheque's to go and buy their drugs!!

Funny I have never had to pass a drug test for any of my jobs, however I have had to have more background checks then you could imagine, some included lie detector tests.

Because eventually once enough people stop working the government runs out of money for all of these programs since there is no income to take from the people. This is why socialism fails.

I know just a little "sarcasm"...

I cry every week when I see that my paycheck is 25% lighter...Then when I file taxes I don't get 1/10th of what it was taken out back.

The whole welfare system is a F'n joke. IMO it needs a complete overhaul to weed out all the F'rs that are taking advantage of it.....

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping people who ACTUALLY NEED it.

What's with the stupid urine test? Most of my jobs doesn't require a urine test. Only once and its for a pharmaceutical jobs. And that's only because they make me a permanent offer when I was working as a tempt.

Abosolutely!

This country is messed up. I go to school to get away from tempt agency to end up working in similiar agency. There's agency with client that is an agency themself. I sometimes wonder if there's any jobs out there.

Here in Oz there is a welfare 'safety net' that sustains recipients just above the poverty line. Nobody but the hopelessly unemployed and drug users would want to hang around on benefits for a prolonged period of time (some unfortunately fall through the cracks between welfare and the disability pension, ie people with various disabilities, especially mental impairment). So everyone who wants a job for the most part has one.

Those folks on welfare for a sustained period often have various substance abuse issues. But my point about urine tests is that they would target those who waste their money in illegal ways - ie illicit drug use - but not those who waste it in legal ways - ie gambling, alcohol and cigarettes. If people really care about how welfare money is spent by recipients, to the extent that they want accountability, then urine tests will only filter out the few - which makes for a half-baked policy imo.

I drank my own piss thinking it was cider before. Yay!
