Alone know a safe and effective way of displaying this without letting a custom glass case made?

Safe from pets and prying hands but still visible, Im thinking thats the only (expensive) way to go by the looks of it considering the footprint.

You could always use a regular aquarium upside-down if you are trying to do it on the cheap.
