You know. I actually like the idea of doing Belloq in the outfit they chose, but I don't like the sculpt. Mostly I think the problem is in the gawline. He is my favoite of the Indy villians, but I can't see myself buying this one. Maybe, if I see it on an eBay clearance, but it would have to be almost half price.

Well I cancelled my exclusive when I started seeing pictures of Belloq and saw that shipping to me was going to be $20. Then I realized I really wanted the environment and felt bad afterward :banghead. I saw it on second chance and decided it would be worth it if I used the few points I had to knock the price down a bit. I really do not want the Belloq so if anyone is interested in him for $50 shipped anywhere in USA please just let me know.

For some reason, when I got mine (which I'm looking at Belloq as the ex for the Idol Environment), the only thing that went through my mind was...

"Welcome to Fantasy Island!"

Now all I need to do is buy another Hobbit for the midget and I'm set! :p

No pics, Nam??? What's up?

I haven't decided what I want to do yet. I'm leaning toward removing his jacket, adding a scarf and rolling up his sleeves. But that comes only after I decide whether or not he's staying on the Pro. The narrow shoulders just make his noggin friggin' HUGE! :lol But I know his clothes won't fit the TrueType. They barely fit the Pro! :huh

I can't decide if my idol pedistal is damaged or not. There are these strange "drill holes" on the side of it on the second line indentation. The strange thing is they don't look like random chips or damage, but rather that they were ment to be there. But it looks like they were drilled AFTER it was painted. I would think if it was mean to be there they would have done it before painting to avoid this horrible looking white polystone showing. There are two of them as well about half a circumfrance apart. Anyone else's like this? :confused

I'm also thinking I should ask for a replacement Belloq head as the back of mine has an annoying spot of missing paint as well. I'd be OK with it, but even the hat doesn't cover it up.

BM:

The hair's no biggie. Spot of paint will fix.

I checked my pedestal, and I did find one very small "drill" hole, but it is clean and painted, so its hard to find. Is it an airhole for some reason, to help the glue inside dry? I wouldn't have even noticed if I wasn't searching for it.

I'd say contact SS and see what your options are, but if they want you to ship the whole thing back with Belloq then maybe its easier to just repaint that little area.

The back of Belloq's head looks cool. Nice wavy detail. I can't wait for him to arrive.

I finally had a chance to open mine today, and I am just not sold on the figure. I am going to part mine out. If anyone needs extra parts, let me know.

The idol pedestal is a thing of beauty. The metal idol is a heavy little sucker. I guess I never paid any attention, but does anyone know exactly what the idol is doing with it's hands. Take a look, you will see what I mean. :)

It's a Fertility Idol. She's giving birth. There are actually many such statues and idols throughout Central and South America.

Yeah, my brother is an art teacher and he did a course on fertility idols. Of course, he used the the Indy one as an example because he's a die hard Indy/Star Wars fan.

I'm really liking this figure the more I have him. Yeah the sculpt is off, but I can see a lot of custom potential.

I am aware of the concept of a fertility idol. I am pretty sure I have seen at least a couple in my art school history courses. :)

However, I have never seen one that is reaching around and spreading it's butt cheeks. I can never watch this scene the same way again.

Dude, I hate to be the one to have to explain this, but if that is a birthing fertility idol, that ain't her butt cheeks she's spreading...:horror

When it comes to images of fertility you should check out some sheela na gigs, You'll often find them on old Enlish churches... makes your eye's water.
