I can't say for sure, but it might be made of aluminum. The back of the shield certainly doesn't look like fiber glass or plastic to me.

Shouldnt the grooves be deeper?

it is made by aluminium. It look plastic made be becoz of the painting is not glossy. And it is so by design.

The painting is good, except some minor lining between star and blue area, not really obvious in fact. No scratches, real leather belt

Drawback and Possible Improvement
1. have double sized leather belt instead of outer side only, so that inner side will be smooth as well
2. can see button print on front side
