Remakes will always be made and tend to arrive quietly and leave just as quietly. I'm not worried about any classics beings tainted.

At least Caddyshack isn't on that list

But RIDDICK has a valid point. It's not a remake of a movie. It's another adaptation of the original source material. I suppose it's splitting hairs when one claims it's not a remake, but it's worth mentioning. I have no problem with filmmakers redoing a story originally from a book, comic, television series, or video game if the original attempt was poorly done. I could get excited for a "remake/reboot/readaptation" of Tomb Raider if it looked and felt more like the video game series.

I don't think great movies need to be remade. They're great already. It's the really bad movies or the movies that fell short of their true potential that deserve to be remade. This is true for all movies, but it's especially true when it's a movie based on another property.
