Good job, but I am not lucky enough to have your skill level to fix them!

Actually it is not hard at all. First you have to remove the forearm armor - just unstrap two leather braces and remove the armor. It is easier to rotate the forearm without the armor and you also don't risk breaking the armor straps.
Then you pull out the deformed fist and pull the red shirt up until you see the bare forearm. You hold the arm above the elbow (between the elbow and the lump) and with your other arm slowly twist the exposed end of the arm until you get it right.
Hope this helps.

See - it looks much better now:

You were dead on! I just rotated it, couldn't bare to look at it like that! Thanks!

EDIT: one advice for Asmus for future releases - please use different kind of glue. Leather straps that hold the armor on the body barely hold on the armor - just a gentle press or pull on them and they come off. This glue also has a chemical effect on this particular pleather so it becomes very brittle and snaps easily.

Glad I was able to help and it worked out for you!

Welcome to the club. It's certainly the most grotesque figure you will have on the shelf.

I have almost a week to brace my wife for this one. She is a Lord of the Rings fan but she doesn't like anything grotesque so telling her I have a Lord of the Rings figure coming gets a "neat" or "okay" response but once she sees him its going to be more like "get that thing out of here" and "you can't let the kids see that". To ease her into his arrival I might end up setting him up next her coffee pot/mixer thing before she wakes. That way maybe she'll associate him with her morning coffee because she loves her morning coffee. Also it means I will be long gone when she screams/jumps when she sees him and she is too polite to yell at me over the phone when I am at work.

Just hope she doesn't chuck it in the trash with the filter. :wink1:

Lol. I didn't think of that!?!?!

I'll never forget the reaction I got from hanging the lego Shelob from the shower head. She didn't even realize it was there until after she turned the shower on. . . and then came the scream, followed by the yelling at me and then the guilt trip that was laid down about how she could have slipped in the shower and then came the little ones hiding fake toy spiders on her pillow and by her tooth brush and everywhere else they could think over. I might have to accidently leave the Toy Biz Gothmog in one of my kids room this week. Probably my sons room my daughter freaked out when she found a NECA Gollum waiting on her pillow one night.

More work done on Gothmog. on the body and more weathering and I added a bit of chainmail to the armor. I was looking at some screecaps and he has a bit hanging on the side.

Next step is to add more hair to the head.

The chain mail I ordered is taking a long time to arrive. I keep looking at that picture of Gothmog (showing chainmail) and Skully for inspiration and, of course, all the great customs here.

ACI (some on eBay) and Kaustic Plastik (sold out at site) make 1/6 chainmail. Good luck in your quest.

Here is my work in progress:

Yes, thanks. :hi5:

If I can find a better looking pleather or material, I'll might rework it. Are customs ever truly finished? :lol (I've got to add another strap to that area too.)

I was trying to match this:

I think I'll call it "done." I've got a droid to build next. ;)

Everyone is right. It is amazing even after dying it brown many times, in photos, it looks more red.

Thanks so much. :hi5:

I showed my wife what I was trying to make. (She is a crafter/scrapbooker.) On one of her scavenger hunts to a thrift store, she found an old fake leather purse for $2. It is a bit too thick, but I liked the price. :D

... I keep looking at my reference photos wondering if I have the chainmail in the correct place, or need more mud/blood splatter, or need another strap on his right side... :gah: ;)

Isn't it awesome we have a 1/6 scale Gothmog after all these years?
