Out of curiosity, have any of you guys used a weighted mouse before?

Yes I have the Mad Catz MMO7 mouse, excellent mouse and has removable weights, I tried it with no weights but it feels much better with them on, it comes with 5 individual weights so you can adjust to your liking

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for a new mouse right now, and oddly enough, I just came across weighted mice last night. I've never heard of them before :lol.

So, from your experience, does it help to improve your performance in gaming (as compared to a standard scroll wheel mouse), or is it purely used for comfort and ergonomics?

oh definetly, I can't actually go back to a regular mouse now :lol
If your looking for a new mouse I would definetly recommend the MMO7
https://www.amazon.com/Mad-Catz-M-M...1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405263238&sr=8-1&keywords=mmo7
its a little pricey and the extra buttons may deter some but the way it feels and handles when playing games as well as the functionality and versatility of the software is unmatched

It also comes with several attachments for customization, so it suits your needs, whether its comfort or performance.

If your looking for something different I'd be happy to make other recommendations :wink1:

Ah, thanks for the info :duff. That's a bit out of my price range right now, unfortunately. What other models or brands would you recommend?

I actually bought a new headset last night, and Amazon gave me a promo code for a 30% discount on this on this mouse (link below). Not sure why it's so cheap...

No kidding :lol. I just found out about them last night. Learn something new everyday...

well thats a decent mouse for a great price, normally I would only go for brands I trust like Razer Corsair Mad Catz etc
the trade off is the price of course but they last 3+years usually

That mouse might be on the light side but with the 30% off as well it sounds like a no brainer, plus with the sensitivity controls you can offset the weight, if It was me I would get either this one

or this one

they are more expensive but only by a little and they are more reliable and of better quality.... still you cant go wrong with the one you linked, it seems solid to me and it has more features than the other ones I linked

Yes Elite is probably too expensive to join right now.
I pledged at the start of the Kickstarter campaign up to alpha level just because I've been waiting 30yrs and this is my all time video game grail.

...buying the standard version now and the expansion pack is a good deal I think because it gets you access to all expansions forever. And the planned expansions are all the planets in the universe and the ability to leave the cockpit and walk around anywhere in game. Definitely worth it ! :D
I'm looking forward to this one. It's going to be killer on the Rift with a flight stick.

Nice! I like how the Corsair mouse has an aluminum unibody design, and the other optical mouse has great reviews. I'll definitely get one of those by tonight (or something else) and post about it. I definitely need something a lot more responsive than the Logitech M310 scroll mouse that I've been using.

I've been using a madcatz r.a.t 9 with all the weights, pretty nice! The extra weight stops that signal drop out that happens when you lift the mouse up off the mouse pad surface a bit.

I know right, they are great mouses, before I got the MMO7 I had the R.A.T.5 which lasted me 2 years, but I wanted a new mouse for the Elder Scrolls Online and the MMO7 is perfect

My PC's been running fine; it's just been warmer (the CPU has been getting hotter) than usual but I take it that it's mostly the southern Californian crap weather.

Even then, do you think it's a good idea to reapply thermal paste ever-so-often?

I think it's recommended to change your thermal paste every 2 or 3 years as a preventative measure. It's definitely worth a shot if your processor is running hot. Have you ever tried Arctic Silver 5?

It is worth a shot but it isn't necessary. I don't think I have ever change my paste after the first time installation and I have never had a problem, can't hurt though. You are better off giving the computer a thorough cleaning every few months. Dust is the main issue.

I'm going to wait and monitor temperatures. Typically, the hottest it's ever gotten was 42. But then again, that was during winter / spring temperatures. True summer and fall is when it went up to 44/45.
