Hi all
Since there have been a couple of threads going around on the subject of the PF Dracula, I've got a question as well.
I've been eyeing mine lately wondering if those arms are adjustable at all? I've seen him in a couple of diffrent poses but those are from Sideshow's promotional photos. I do remember reading once on this forum that the arms can be posed differently if you are careful with them. Thought I would ask as I would hate to damage mine in any way, especially at that price.
My Phantom and Frankenstein Monster 1/4 scales are just as stiff as well.

Also, I finally have a 1/4 scale Wolfman currently on it's way and I hope I won't be disappointed in any way since it was hard to track down photos that were not Sideshow production shots as those can be decieving to the final product. If anyone can let me know about their thoughts on theirs that would be great.

yes the arms can be posed on the Dracula. Although I will say it terrifies me everytime I do.

the color Wolfman has a beautiful paintjob. The SSE has one of the worst Ive ever seen from SS. Sad but true. still an awesoem piece though

The arms are pretty stiff, I pretty much got mine in a position I liked and left them there, but I don't think the arms are all that fragile that they'll break if you aren't careful enough. Naturally I wouldn't act like its a 12" and pose it that way. :lol

What's wrong with the SSE Wolfman Occulum? I'm thinking about getting one.

just the tonal range IMO. or lack there of.
Here's a comparison I put together awhile back. I have one and the SS pics are very accurate to the product.
I plan on repainting mine some time when I get up the courage.

Ah yes I see what you mean. And that nose sticks out like a sore thumb too.

...seeing that Wolfman SSE version, makes me all the happier I have a color one on the way.

I for one have never been that keen on any of the SSE editions. I have just about all the Universal 1/6 scales that Sideshow released (I have yet to get the Metaluna Mutant which would complete the collection) and really prefer them in color.

The SSEs just look odd and out of place in a color surrounding when displayed. I had bought a couple of the 8" versions and they just felt like they stood out too much.

Yeah sure that's what they appeared like ON FILM, but if they walked around in real life (or just on the movie set for that matter) they would obviously be in color. Jack Pierce applied the gray/green makeup to Karloff to translate the look he wanted to black and white film stock and give him that dead-like pale complexion, and I like that the figures represent what they looked like in the real world before they stepped out in front of the camera.

I prefer my SSE Frank and Drac, but I've got the colour LAM and would prefer the colour Wolfman, but he seems to be a bit on the hard to find side so I'm gonna just go with SSE. I think he'll look fine with Frank and Drac who flank a black and white picture of the Rat Pack I have. A bit of a mixture of genre's but I think the black and white motif goes well together.

Got my 1/4 scale color Wolfman on Friday and boy am I pretty happy with the purchase. I hummed and hawed when it was first released and of course price was an issue as well. Thanks partially to a tax return, I managed to get him on ebay with one bid of $269 so must of been a quiet buying day as they usually reach $300 and up at this point. I even managed to avoid paying Canadian customs duty thanks to the seller being nice about lowering the value on the customs form. A really great 1/4 scale figure - it's my fourth at this point and is up there with the Dracula as far as favourite.

Congratulations dopeybenny and welcome. Now get over to the Permathreads and have your edition numbers recorded on the Premium Format Registry, if you haven't already.

Ok... here is a question to open a deeper discussion. I see many people on this board saying they want "screen accurate" when it comes to Star Wars, Predator, etc. There is even a poll about whether Darth Vader's chest pack should have straps or not (which would be screen accurate). So if most of the board wants the screen accurate figures from these later films, why not the early monsters in black and white?

Debate...

Mainly because younger collectors haven't had the exposure to as much Black and White.

I still think accuracy is harder to obtain in recent films, that as a matter of course have six of everything as a back up, some variations may be incorporated in those back ups.

We see the world in colour, now, and we did then too. The shades of black and white allowed our imaginations to see the colour, we compensated for the technology, much in the same was as we allowed for the staggered motion of early films.

We still want accurate sculpts, better paint applications, attention to the details is still there.
