I voted for Luke even though I'm skipping him. I'm more excited for HT Luke because of what it means for the SW line--better, more realistic figures. And it hopefully means a new Bespin Han and Leia.

In any normal circumstance I would pick Boba over Luke any day. But, since I already have a really well made Boba (Medicom ROTJ) I'm going to go with Bespin Luke since he looks to be made so well.

Hard to pick between the two, because Boba Fett is my favorite character, but I think the edge must go to Luke. There are several different Fetts from other manufacturers, and the Sideshow version, while a welcome addition, is simply another one.

The Hot Toys Luke is far more important to the hobby, as Hot Toys' attention to detail and overall quality simply can't be beat. However, their prices are increasing rapidly, and with the Star Wars license, they could very well start leaving all competition behind and begin a long-lasting strangehold on the industry. Unless the bottom falls out of this Luke, it will signify massive change that will affect the entire industry. This is STAR WARS, after all.

This, I believe, would/could result in one of three scenarios for Sideshow:

1. Abandon the production of Star Wars figures entirely.

2. Returning to being a 'budget' manufacturer. Less quality, less detailed, less expensive. This would be a shame, and a backwards step for the company, because it looks like they are really making great progress in catching up to Hot Toys' quality.

3. Competing 1:1 with Hot Toys and whoever else, matching quality step for step. The dangerous part of this option is that it would likely lead to very high prices across the board. I would prefer this option, but especially after seeing the upcoming batch of figures at SDCC, the bottom line is that this hobby is becoming more and more expensive daily.

I think that, one way or another, the Hot Toys Bespin Luke will probably end being the most important and influential 1:6 figure in the history of the hobby, and I don't think that is an overstatement or being overly dramatic.

I agree... and in all honesty as nice as the new Luke sculpt is, the regular head looks about as much like Luke as the Sideshow one. But of course the quality will be head and shoulders above in terms of final product.

Luke, it's not even close. Luke is such a significant upgrade that its like getting the very first truly collectible 1/6 Luke, everything before it was utter crap.

Meanwhile, Medi Fett is still a nice piece, SS is definitely an upgrade but the chasm between SS and HT Luke was so great that I am much more excited having an excellent 1/6 Luke.

While Boba, Luke, and Iggy are garnering a lion's share of the attention (and deservedly so!), Grievous may be the Dark Horse that steals the show in execution! And as Greivous has never been done in 1/6 scale before (the Hasbro 'Gumby' version doesn't count) and SSC had previously stated that this guy would never be done, my anticipation for him is running HIGH!! If they keep the paint apps intact and include swap-out split arms, he'll get my vote for figure of the year (and considering the competition, that's saying something!):yess:

I just made it 85-84 in favour of Luke. I've gone for Luke not just he's the hero but because for me personaly this is the 1st human 1/6 SW figure that has blown me away. I'm actually thinking of selling of my SS SW figures now that HT are making them as well, they probably won't produce to many & that'll help me from not being tempted in to pretty much every SW figure SS produce but I'll wait & see if they produce a Vader 1st :)

Didn't vote Hot Toys Luke because, well, I'm not impressed with it, at all. I like the battle damaged head, but the regular clean version leaves alot to be desired. I also think those boots look ridiculous. Sure, it's the best 1/6 Luke to date but judging by the figures Hot Toys has released so far, they could do better.

Yeah I dig the battle damaged head and accessories but that doesn't "make it" for me. I'd love to put it ahead of the Sideshow Boba but the figure just never struck me as anything special, especially compared to the other figures Hot Toys revealed recently.

I'm very excited about both, and I'm an extremely casual Star Wars fan compared to most here. But Luke for me b/c I like Luke better as a character, this is my favorite look of his, and I'm generally a bigger fan of human figures over robots and armored guys. Also, we should essentially be getting two different figures here instead of just one.

As exciting as both of these releases are, seeing what Sideshow's partnership with Hot Toys will mean to this line is why Bespin Luke seems like the more essential purchase. For example, making that weathervane a "stand" for this figure is ingenious.

Besides, as good as SSC Boba looks, it's not much of a jump in quality from Medicom's versions. I may actually only bother getting a few loose pieces from Toy Anxiety to upgrade my ESB Medicom figure like I did with my VCD Yoda.

I feel if all HT SW releases are going to be $300 at retail then there is no way I can rationalize that kind of money on every character they release, Bespin Luke has always been my favorite Luke look so I am definitely going to get him... but I hope they don't cram two complete figures in one package for future releases.

I'm not going to display them both anyways, so two figures to me is pointless.

Hi there, have been lurking for a while but finally decided to register just so I could vote in this poll (Luke). Although I've got Luke, Boba Fett and IG-88 on order and I'm not a big Luke fan, the quality of the sculpt, PERS and extras make this a really cool release. Definitely looking forward to posing him on the weather vane and hoping for some Bespin environments from SSC to flesh out the display.

PS - I'd have to disagree with the comment that the hype around the Luke release is related to its expense. The Medi Han Solo is around the same price and in my opinion looks awful from the neck up. Face looks way too wide and the expression looks terrible. Definitely hoping that Han is in the works from HT and that they get much closer to Ford's likeness.

I have not gotten a SS figure in quite sometime (Vader) So i don't know if the quality of their figures has improved much. (Vader was good) I know the recent medi fett (ROTJ) is absolutely bad-*** and will be hard to top. I will say this, IF the SS Fett looks like the proto pics and don't have loose joints and bad weathering/paint etc. it will top the Medi Fett (and that is a great figure)

I went with Fett, and he is actually the only one I'm getting. I mentioned in his thread, that I think the DX Luke looks like a great set (even with the too-pretty face), but have never felt much of a desire to get into the SW humans.

And gotta love that poll - with this many responses, I wonder what other poll on here was similarly close.

I wonder if the results of this poll could be at all affected by....

1. The price of Luke being so far out of reach for many collectors on this board that it creates a hostility element to the vote, preventing them from being judged on their own merits.

2. Some on here, who shall remain nameless, seem to either harbor a grudge against Hot Toys or have such a devotion to Sideshow that they are unwilling to accept anything but Sideshow.

Because as much as I like Fett, I cannot fathom why anybody would pick that Fett over that Luke. I think Fett is awesome, but I am not so sure this is a definitive Fett. I think there is room for improvement.

I am sure when the final products are released, we will hear people's true feelings.

In the meantime, I will enjoy my sour grapes.

I just per-ordered both today. I am more excited about the Bespin Luke though. This Hot Toys version makes my sideshow version look like Howdy Doody. Bespin Luke sneaking around the halls of Bespin in the most iconic and nostalgic image of Star Wars for me, so "Howdy Doody" just won't cut it anymore. My old sideshow figure is just a placeholder for the new Hot Toys version. (This is not a diss to sideshow- For the most part I am happy with the sideshow figures I have.)

Interestingly enough I just could not talk myself into replacing my sideshow Indy with the New Hot Toys figure even if it is an upgrade. It is just too expensive. The Bespin is too- but I probably am going to recoup half the cost by selling one of the Lukes.

As for Boba, I actually have been pretty happy with a 12" hasbro version for a long time, but thought "why not". I am sure I will like this new Sideshow version better (if the arms don't look too skinny in hand), I just hope I like it better to the same degree that it cost more.

It was implied. It is a very artistic way of making a character badass. And Boba Fett didn't whine anywhere near as much as Luke Skywalker did throughout the movies.

Closer the both of these get to coming out the more excited I get for each. Empire Strikes Back is by far my favorite in the Star Wars SAGA and having these two characters represented on my shelf makes me ecstatic!

These two and the future SSC ESB/ROTJ Vader and the Freezing Chamber environment and the future DX Han (hoping that its ESB version with Carbonite) just will be mind blowingly awesome!!!

I'm in Oz too and have been ordering direct from Sideshow for 10 years (mainly for the exclusives), never a problem.

It's even better nowadays with the $A worth around the same as $US.
