If this is available at the con it will most likely require a pre-order... so I would recommend that your friend open an account with Sideshow now so he can be part of the attendee pre-order. But you can also order as a non-attendee which is great for those not attending.

However, I could see this ending up like the T-1000/Sara Connor figure where it was not ready for SDCC and was sold as a regular release figure.

Kind of bummed they didn't go with the trophy skull I was hoping for, but this looks neat. There's definitely something custom-ish about it, yet the completionist in me must have it. HT did by the way confirm returning to previously-done characters with their new techniques and details, they're simply in the planning/concept stage now. It won't happen soon, but it will happen.

Well, I just saved a lot of money on my car insurance....but I won't be spending it on this.

I expected to be salivating over whatever Predator 2 figure we got, but I'm actually glad to not feel the need to drop so much cash on this guy. I'll pass on having Poodle Predator in my collection.

Hopefully next year, we'll get a Boar, or Ram Predator. The day that happens, is the day I'll have no problem dropping a nice chunk of change on a "limited" edition.

Besides the lack of Bio-mask, and the puffy shoulder strap/belt, he does look pretty good though. It's nice to see this, and get a good idea of how good P2 Preds, and Classic could possibly look on the new body. So is that head a rehash of the Lost/Borg Predator, or an all new sculpt?

I've read through the thread just now and all I can say is "Wow. 'Beat It' MJ is available through Sideshow?" That gives me hope, but then again, was the HT 10th Anniversary thing an exclusive deal for that specific convention/celebration? Because if so, them releasing the figuress to Sideshow afterwards would be contradictory.

The main problem here is lack of communication. If HT is planning to let Sideshow carry these eventually, they should just say it. Otherwise you'll have a lot of angry collectors buying from HK sellers at extreme prices for something they could've gotten months later at cost. Couple that issue with the sheer ambiguity of 'to what degree is this an exclusive?' or 'what kind of exclusive is this?' and you've got half the world unsure as to whether or not they should drop their pants and fork over the money or wait for a possibly hopeless cause.

I wish I did have a more definitive answer regarding this item for y'all but it being such a recent announcement, not much is known. I can confirm we will be selling it but it is unknown when exactly it will be available for Pre-Order. The best bet would be to keep an eye on our front page and newsletter for updates. :)

yeah, i'd say around 99% got one because it said "exclusive" on it. the other 1% was divided up between completeists and new collectors who missed out on the older preds. and the prevalence on ebay reflects that.

Well the T-1000 as Sarah Connor disguise was an exclusive everywhere but it went up as a regular release on Sideshow. And they did state that the very cheap Star Wars exclusive book was the last exclusive they have for SDCC. So who knows? Maybe this and Batman/Bruce Wayne will be up as regular releases.

Agreed 100%, but it's items like this that SSC can get people to sign up for their newsletter for. Last year's Guardian exclusive is what sucked me in. It's either conform and get these items if ya want them bad enough, or "make a stand" (as some would probably put it) and don't, and watch it slip away or pay secondary market scalper prices. It's actually a semi brilliant marketing move on their part.

Frick, yeah! :rock To be honest, P2 BD is kind of a "meh" figure for me now (and Lost is slightly inching into that territory, though still a ways off), but I'm still pumped over owning Guardian, so he'll go great with Shadow. Next year, we HAVE to get Ram... and that gorgeous extraterrestrial T-Rex skull or whatever it is.





As for those disappoined in SSC's lack of specific information on this, I'd say be happier. It's not like rushing and taking your chances at some other international store will save you the most money, especially since those places will get the figures earlier (when they'll still count as legit exclusives). Hence, exclusive pricing. Pay no mind to that pesky feeBay seller, because he's raised his price multiple times after only selling one of his projected two figures. I'm sorry for whoever bought it. :lecture

Yep, don't have the elder either. Someone in the UK is trying to sell one here. Actually the Secret Project Iron Man was not a PPO... and was probably the reason the site went down. They did change the site to a streamline order, but that was after it was completely jacked up.

It's been years since I had any difficulty with a PPO, but these going up at 10:00am w/the rest of the site still running usually add poorly.

Only the AVP Elder ever came with quills (if I'm correct?), and those were separate and you had to attach them yourself. It's not a hard thing to do, if it's that important to you.

Maybe not the P2 in particular, but definitely some of their older Predators or Aliens. They even stated in response to a question that specified AVP and the like that they would 'marry their new techniques' with those old designs, rather than a simple re-release. They added this was all still in the concept/planning stage, but at least we know they're preparing something.

The only reason so many of us assumed P2 would be among the first of the remakes is because they've already taken some steps towards perfecting their execution of Predators based on that design. New shin armor and other parts made to fit all on a new body. We're not saying anything is set in stone, it's just that they've put their foot down on the P2 starting line there. Whether they choose to deviate from it and do AVP first instead, time will tell.

Nah, I'm cool without tons of accessories or a mask. My Lost Pred is displayed mask-less without any accessories, because that's how he was in the movie. If the lack of mask and major armor keeps the price down some, that makes me happier :D

i'm not saying i wouldn't buy it, i would because i'm an idiot. but you really can't compare Batman to Predator. like, on anything. especially collectibles. anything that says 'Batman' on it is essentially a license to print money now. Predator... not so much. the only reason HT Predator figures sell out is because HT generally doesn't produce very many of them. compared to their big $$ licenses which get relatively huge production runs anyway.

Maybe not the P2 in particular, but definitely some of their older Predators or Aliens. They even stated in response to a question that specified AVP and the like that they would 'marry their new techniques' with those old designs, rather than a simple re-release. They added this was all still in the concept/planning stage, but at least we know they're preparing something.

The only reason so many of us assumed P2 would be among the first of the remakes is because they've already taken some steps towards perfecting their execution of Predators based on that design. New shin armor and other parts made to fit all on a new body. We're not saying anything is set in stone, it's just that they've put their foot down on the P2 starting line there. Whether they choose to deviate from it and do AVP first instead, time will tell.
oh sweet jesus. i really hope they have better things to do with their time and resources than fart out more AVP toys. there's already a ____ ton of merchandise from that as it is. i wish that movie would go away for good.

i'm just not getting what HT's incentive would be to re-make the P2. they're big enough now to get just about any big $$ license they want. it's not like they're gonna run out of new stuff to make. they're better off making new lost clan preds while they still have the P2 license. that won't last forever either.

but i'd say NECA has a big incentive to make a 14" P2. they've said several times making a 19" version is way too expensive because of paint and accessories and a 14" version might be the best compromise.

Some things are off a bit but all in all this looks way better to me and as a fan I'm hoping they go back and redo all the P1 and P2 stuff they did. I bet they know it will sell out fast. A new Elder like this will be great and those that have the original figures will still have a more fun articulated figure. Others like myself want a more accurate figure and to me this is more of what makes HT a great company because they will go back and try improving on their past work. I think our P2 would be great at 14 inches but I rather stay with 19 inches on our stuff and let HT be king at 1/6th. I love the feel of the Predators figures they did and getting P2 and P1 and heck even the Wolf in this new style would be great. I'm really looking forward to getting all the upcoming HT Predators. And hey, it's not like the AVP Predators wouldn't look bad-*** upgraded to today's standards. HT will probably keep the long and thick dreads (I hope), but sans the wires. Hence, thick-yet-nicely-hanging hair like that of their P2 figure, which I still maintain is the best dread job they've ever done. This is just me getting giddy over the article, but draw your own conclusions and take solace in the fact that HT's doing something potentially awesome.

100% agree on erry'thing. Well said -- and to each at what they kick the most *** at. NECA's surprised us all with their 1/4 P1 and we can only hope they continue there. HT is also seeming to get on the road at perfecting what they do best, so perhaps we can finally get a bit closer to equilibrium and epicness at every scale for every pricepoint. It sounds like wishful thinking so early on, but dammit, I'm ready to get excited. 2011's going to be a hell of a year and 2012 only promises more much-needed excellence. If HT makes good on anything I think they were referring to in that FAQ, I'll toast them. AVP, Predator 2, or even an Alien Warror (because that one REALLY needs an update, if not for accuracy, than at least for durability). If we get one of those, we may get the others. Seeing my P1 go from 13 to 19 inches was great and I'd love to see P2 get this same 19 inch figure. Yes they'd be fine at 13 inches but we've done more 18 inch figures by far than 12 inch. I say we can be the 18 inch company and HT 13 inch high end company. For me I've always liked the larger figures. Yes you didn't get any light up or any of that stuff. For the 80 dollars you're lucky you got what you got. We could get into high end figures if we wanted to make them but we're more a McFarlane type of figure company. Who knows what the future will bring though.

I think he looks like one of the more bad asses out of the group when he walks out in the movie. He also looks cool when you see him pass in front of the Elder. The HT figure has a few issues being accurate here and there. The dreads need to me way shorter and the fur on his right shoulder is the wrong shape. The leather on his wrist need a more wrinkled look but all in all I think he looks great. I'm looking forward to getting him and I'm glad HT is making him. The paint job on this piece is very nice. The head is a sneak peek at what the original will be like which is very nice. Way better than the current P1 they did. I'm not sure but it looks like they might be using the old P2 feet which I hope they make new improved ones. I'm hoping they do Shaman next.

I have a feeling they did his dreads longer on purpose. They are really short in the movie and HT might think people might go WTF at how short they are. We went ahead and just tried doing it accurate and I think the shorter dreads look fine.

ok. but i'll point out that McFarlane made 18" figures too and a lot of them had some sort of electronic feature. and they were like $50 back then. there's no reason you guys can't put a LED in a 19" Predator figure. they're dirt cheap and you could just do a re-release later on like you did with that new LED Bioshock Bouncer you did (which i got and love, btw). just call it a "super special limited exclusive awesome edition" and jack up the price a little. if i'm willing to pay $80 for your Predator, i'll just as soon pay $100 for it. i paid at least that much for your Balrog. try me.

i'm gonna have to agree with tankman on this one. he did look pretty badass in the movie.

but i think the figure is horrible and gay and i've heard from reliable sources that it will make your ____ fall off. so, nobody should order it.
