View Full Version : Do we need a seperate Horror forum?
Darklord Dave

So do we? It would cover Universal, New Line Horror, other horror collectibles, etc.
Batty

Why not? Horror is one of the big categories for Sideshow. It might make it a little easier to search for certain threads.

I'll def say a yes to that Dave.
But I may be biased. Its my number 1 interest as far as all of SS's lines are concerned.
and hopefully SS has enough new horror products coming down the pipe to warrant its own forum.
although it would cut posting in this forum almost in half.

I think there should be, there are definitley enough lines and products to warrant it... actually for a long time I thought there was a Monsters forum until I tried to look for it

i say yes because the horror is a very popular subject and it should have its own forum. millitary figures have their own forum and i KNOW the horror forum would get just as many if not more people posting in it.

The House of Sideshow was built on Horror, and Horror put it on the map. So yes. If Star Wars (one movie series) can get it's own forum, why can't a whole, and extremely popular genre get it's?

I think with the Universal monsters, New line Horror,The Dead line, and all that monster talk, we could use a Horror Forum..I know that it would be the place where I would hang out...
it would be more organized and great idea

How about a Sci-Fi category? Aliens, Predator, Terminator, Star Trek, X-Files, POTA, Highlander. Some of these lines aren't as active as others, but it might be good for newer and future licenses.

I don't want to get like some other forums where people get frustrated not knowing where to post. For example I wouldn't consider Aliens to be in the same category as Freddy Krueger, but some people might. Thus the confusion begins.
But with all the new members coming in, it does make sense to create a new category.

Yeah, but I think instances as that will sort themselves out over time. There have been other posts that may fit into more than one forum and you've not banned anyone yet for getting it wrong. :D
And over time with the occasional move here or there that might be necessary by a mod we'll figure out the boundaries.
Now give us that forum :mummy

I'm for it. Plenty of horror stuff to talk about.
Yes, absolutely Horror should have it's own section.
I'd even suggest two sections as follows:
Modern Horror (1970? to current)
Classic Horror (1900 to 1970?)
Modify the years accordingly, but you get the drift.

That's the down side of it: to many categories, and you might loose overview, which could result in missing information. Keep it simple!
Too many categories makes Kabukiman a sad panda.

I voted no. I dont think there's enough Horror stuff released to keep discussions current. And I compare it to the Buffy section, in which I hardly ever go to. I'm a Buffy Fan and only collect certain BUffy items, but since it got it's own section I only been there a few times.

http://www.kurtgoldzung.com/MB/drprtrs.gif
I think we should break everything down into separate sections:
Buffy
Willow
Xander
Faith
Cordelia
Giles
Angel
Spike
Darla
Same for Horror:
Freddy
Jason
Mike Myers
Leatherface
Dracula
Frankenstein
Wolfman
Phantom of the Opera
The Mummy
etc.
Same for every single LOTR character also!
That way you're 100% sure to get the right section for what you want!
It'll be totally foolproof! :monkey5

If we separate it into New Line and Universal then where would someone go to post about, say, a new Hellraiser Pinhead doll? With just a horror section it's obvious - you break it down too much it starts being confusing.

No, no, no, Dave. You divide it between Golden Age or Classic Horror (that would include films from the 20s through the '40s) for the chronologically challenged, and Modern Horror (whenever that dark period of time began), for the young sociopaths.
Now, that's your perfectly logic, Dave. :)
If you don't like that idea, could Protozaius and I have our own forum?

I think its two completely different schools of thought...classic "monster" movies and modern "horror" movies are totally different....Were as the classic often gave the monster a heart and character, modern horror movies have the ultimate villian, no emotion, just a hard core killing machine.
Take Frank & Leatherface.....They couldn't be more different...The "shock" horror that came into its own in the 70's is a much more in your face type of horror...I for one prefer modern to classic, but I think its apples and oranges....Though they both may have "monsters" in them they are worlds apart in thier approach...

Yes! I've always thought of "horror" and "sci-fi" in the same context, so why not make it a Horror/Sci-Fi forum, that way, you don't have to worry about where the Predator, X-Files or Twilight Zone goes... :monkey3

Good point Dave. If it were a combined Horror/Sci-fi then pretty much all that is left is Bond. I know there have been Superman threads but if Marvel were changed to a Comic or Super Hero forum that would go there. Of course then you have the occasional HP, POTC, or the like. They're usually few and far between though.
