1/6 Lara Croft headsculpt *WIP PICS ON PAGE 1*

I like the way how the new Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider reboot looks realistic, yet beautiful at the same time. I am wondering if there are other people on the forums that would see such a head to be made, and if any sculptors are willing to sculpt the head.

Not at the moment. I am going to contact some sculptors on this forum tomorrow. Are any particular sculptors you want me to contact? I want to find one who is good at doing female headsculpts.

Now that I think about it, does anyone have a preference on the hair being plastic or doll hair?

I can see that is a possibility, but with the exception of the Assassin Creed toys, HT tend to do figures of license they have done in the past like Resident Evil.

So right after I created this thread (a year ago), I contacted a talented sculptor on the forums if he is interested in sculpting the head. Turns out that he was doing one for himself after the game's announcment. A few weeks ago, he emailed me pics of the head:

It is because I tried to use the links through yahoo mail attachments. :D. I thought it would work since it shows up on mines, but that is because I have already opened up the attachments on my pc. I uploaded the pics on photobucket, so they should work now

I like it too, but does the lower lip looks a bit swollen? I am okay with it, but I was wondering if anyone else is

Hmm, not sure what I think yet.. I agree the lower lip does look too puffy, maybe the nose is a bit big too. Something is throwing it off, maybe the shape of the face? I think with some work it could be really great. Of course, the camera could be distorting it some? :dunno

Yeah lower lip needs taking down a bit, jawline needs widening a bit, bridge of the nose slimming slightly. It's difficult without seeing the sculpt and a reference pic side by side.

I think the hair could probably be thinned out some, going by that picture you posted darkchylde.

Oh, definitely reduce the size of the noise, lips, and thickness of the hair. I think the sculptor is capturing the character though.

I am not sure if I can reveal who it is yet - I have to ask him. However, he is a professional sculptor on the forums who did custom head sculpts before. His use of red clay might be a hint

Thanks for the reference. I noticed that Lara has two different looks. The more western style seen in the teaser pic the images you posted and in some of the cutscenes, and the "Square-Enix" look where her facial features is more "Japanese" like that of a final fantasy character - the latter is used in the actual game model. Which look should we go for?

Yeah, that is the teaser look. Since the thread was started back in '11, the wip sculpt from Erick is based on that image. However, it looks similar to the cutscenes model you and I posted

I love the face on this sculpt and the hair as well. Excellent job. The only thing that is bugging me a little is the two "whisps" of hair on the right side of the face...they just look like two little triangles right now. I'm sure that you'll refine them but I feel like they distract from the work you put in on the face.
If they were more "away" from the face or possible shorter so as not to be directly on the cheek...to me that'd work a lot better IMHO. Other than that I think its fantastic. It'd be interesting to see the other side of the head. Oh....I'd definitely be interested in getting this sculpt when complete. There are a couple of variations for Lara that I'd love to work on ...this head'll be perfect for one of them.

I definitely get that saber. But I still think just from a certain perspective it takes away from the piece a little. Now if there was some way to do the hair as a separate sculpted piece...that'd a whole different kettle of fish. All of those "whispy details and messy strands would work better. Or the back of the head left "open" for a hair wig to be glued in place might be even cooler. Y'know what...it doesn't matter what I think...it's damn cool, looks like it's comin' along great & I can't wait to see more. :wink1:
