New member here! Browsing through the forums cuz I just joined and I saw this post! :yay
I purchased from this site on June 1st right when the June sale started. I was one of the first I think to get on their first wave of shipments on the June sale. Do not be surprised if it takes awhile for your shipment. My Swords arrived yesterday and I am such a happy camper all UC brand new never been opened! So for me it was worth the wait, because I thought with the prices they had that I would have gotten displays or a knock off. Because I thought "OKAY" where is the catch?? I have been buying from Ebay but I have gotten ripped there so many times I gave up! I ventured on the internet in hopes to find someone, somewhere, out there that would not max out my card :b
I called the owner yesterday to thank her for such an amazing deal and I could not have spoken to a nicer person! She told me they were going to have more things added to the summer clearance and as spoken about in the posts above a "4th of July Sale" cool beans!:dance

Happy to set some minds @ ease! yeah the only downfall is the wait. But at the prices they are selling I can only imagine how much this store is shipping on a day to day basis. From what she said they had sold all in stock and restock shipments they get in go out the same day. The only thing I can say is to be patient on your merchandise because it is worth the wait! ;)

I placed another order at lunch but this was for the pre-orders on the anduril NL and sword of boromir. I bought one each of the helms I think they are almost sold out on those. I saw the post in here on them and I jumped on that. Ya kinda feel like a kid in a candy store! happy to finally be in a crowd that likes to collect the same as me ;)

All I can say is I bought from this store and I got what I paid for. That is all I can say. I bought way back at the begining of the month of June and it took a while to get the merchandise and not expecting what I purchased yesterday to get here any sooner. I know that this store was pumping out some goods before it was announced in here. So I am sure that even announcing in here has added more to the flood gates.
Daelith2000 I can see that the people in here just started buying only a week ago because of the date of post from the person that posted it in here. So I would not expect anytime soon too many postings from people as of yet raving about their merchandise ;) It worked out great for me pocket book wise and I hope that it works out for you all. Maybe when you all start getting your merchandise and posting in here you will not be on the fence anymore Daelith2000. Would hate for you to miss out on some AWESOME prices.

Anyone planning to buy, maybe its wise to wait to hear if others get their orders, mainly people that have been with us on the boards for a while that we can confirm. For example, the1ring5689 is a new member confirming his purchases and has posted only in this thread alone. I dont think this is enough to trust this site. No offense to the1ring5689 at all and my intentions are not to cause distrust or hostility. I really do hope this is legit and works out for everyone. I and we all know we need a brake now and then with lotr prices and this is a good brake, but just as a precaution. As Dave put it in the sell/trade section, if its too good to be true, then it probably isnt. Free shipping worldwide??? The prices of these swords are great but lets just wait is my only opinion. I say this for the good of the family here and would hate to see my friends and family get scammed! I had a customer email me last night and I was a bit concerned with what she had told me. First let me state that "Angels in The Outfield" is not a large store we opened last year. We have a lot of local customers here in Texas and a lot of customers worldwide it took us quite a while to build up to what we have now. This store was built from the ground up by me. I attended a lot of trade/collectible shows and added a lot to the inventory here in which there was a lot of traded and special deals made. In the months that we have been opened I have researched become dealers with quite a few places. I have come to know just about everyone in this business in the state of Texas. I have kept certain people in the business at close range. In other words what you see here on the site and what we sell we got at a very good price and we still continue to get good deals. I have spent a great deal of time learning the business finding a few tricks to the trades and sales on my end that I am lucky I have run across come people that are working one on one with me. The prices we sell at we still make a profit not A LOT off of each sale but enough to profit. We figured if we place it at a price that everyone can afford and we still make a little of the sale the more people will but . The more that buy, the more profits we have. It is a win, win situation for all. Some people are in this business to get rich, I am in it because I love what I do, I too am a collector of many things mainly Star Wars but I am also a collector myself so I know what it is like to REALLY, REALLY, want something and not have the money for it. Or miss out on a limited editions because I did not act fast enough or I did not have the money at the time. This is why we have a lay-a-way plan on our site. So everyone will have a chance at the more expensive merchandise. I work 7 days a week and sometimes I am up till 2 to 3 am in the morning. Searching - researching - answering emails - placing restock orders finding merchandise from customers wish lists that is a fair price to all, all the way around! Keeping the business thriving!

This business is 60% online and 40% locally. I run Angels out of my home. I have a large home with a 3 car garage and a room above the garage and that is where the store resides for our local customers. The website is designed by my husband and I, we have a merchant account for the phone orders/Trade shows and we have paypal for online. I have found ways to where I can run a business to keep prices low on quality merchandise and still have a profitable business. It is not that hard folks when you work for the customers more than yourself. I believe that if you do that ALL will reward.

Word of mouth over the past 4 months has REALLY brought in customers from all over and it is a little more at the moment than we can handle so we are working hard on getting a grip on it. So that the customers will not have to wait so long for their merchandise because we are selling as fast as we get it in. So much in fact that we are on backorder for quite a few things in the summer clearance that is not limited edition merchandise. We have decided that since the summer clearance sale is doing so well we will not have a monthly sale anymore till the summer clearance is over. Because we can not handle the volume.

We had someone that referred us to a board and since his announcement to the board it has tripled our sales and it has been overwhelming for us! I am sorry that some believe that these prices are too good to be true and well kinda make out like we are trying to rip people off. I can sit here and BS you all, all day long but the way this store is going to prove that we are who we say we are...is just hang tight and when you get what you pay for then that is the only way we will prove it.

We have decided that we will continue with the lowest prices we possibly can the prices that were on our site before will not be added back out there once the summer clearance sale is over. The prices will not be like they are now in the summer clearance but they will still be a good low price. The summer clearance was a test drive for us, to see what kind of reaction we got from the public. There will be many, many more test drives at Angels when you see a new section added we are testing the waters to see what the customers out there want the most. That was why we added the poll button on the homepage of the summer clearance sale to see what everyone out there is wanting. To me this is a two way street, I think that the business should work for the customer and the customer should work with the business. There is no way we are going to know what the customer wants unless you tell us or the merchandise sells. We work for you! We would not be here if it was not for the customers.

I hope that my actions as far as working for you the customer will ease your minds in time, but at least give Angels a chance to prove herself. We are here for the customer and I believe that all will see that in due time.

I have looked at the site and was about to order. But seeing that payments can only be made via paypal all my alarm bells started ringing and I closed the page quickly. Just anybody can offer payment via paypal, remember! It says zero about the seller's credibility.

So, unless they offer payment by a major credit card like Visa or Amexco, I will give the "opportunity" a miss. Think about this carefully, guys!

As far as payments go Goldberry, I read their site and it says that paypal is not the only option. They accept Visa, MC, Amerex, Discover via phone or fax orders. Maybe misread it, but their fax order form says it is for credit card orders only.

Of course, I can't vouch for them yet, but hopefully I'll be able to within the next couple of weeks when I should be receiving my orders.

I've paid in full for my order, and I called Shannon and spoke
with her about the worries posted here. Everything seems to
be on the up-and-up, and we spoke at length about scammers
and how people have been burned here before.

Her e-mails have been very many, and very quick in response
time. She was very nice on the phone, if a tad bit miffed about
the negative comments posted on the board here.

My order thru Shannon is supposed to ship this Friday, and I'll

happy camper indeed. If not, I'll be out some $$$, but I'm very
confident at this point that everything is OK.

Either she's legit (which is what I think), or the best sounding
scammer in the world, because I'm not worried about my order.

Iv got 2 coming in to the UK, Shannon says itl take about 3 weeks for them to get here as it was free shipping via srface mail, but iv spoken with her through a great many e mails, and i find her to be a genuine person, the e mail she sent out doesnt seem like the sort of thing a scammer would do, theres customer care going on there, and i trust her...for now!

Lynxie, they limited their summer clearance sales to Texas residents only for the time being.

With all the articles they are selling, I can hardly imagine them to be frauds. I have seen that they actually do accept various credit cards, which lets me hope for an honest business. Still, free shipping and low prices sound like a fairy tale (angels, right? ;) ) . I just hope, that it is true - for once! *keeping my fingers crossed for you guys* I simply can't afford to take any more risks, as much as I would like to order a couple of things from that place. I have lost too much money already and still have a Visa claim running.

It's actually sad that I (and many of you guys too) have had to become so distrusting when there really might be somebody trying to make not the big bucks for themselves and saving collectors all over the world high shipping costs too. It's the bad experience from the past with private sellers and also dealers that take your money and never deliver or return your money after three or four months. These guys do a lot of damage to sellers and buyers alike and should burn in hell!!

I agree, everything points to her as being legit except for the too good to be true prices that were up. I have faith that everything will work out. Shannon has had the best communication of any business I have dealt with, and she seems to really care about what the customers want. The summer clearance sale has been taken down until further notice (she said it might go back up once the current flood of orders get shipped out). seriously guys, we tripled her business, so at the moment she is a bit overwhelmed. just be patient and all will work out.

sorry everyone I was away for the 4th. this is going to be a long reply so i sorry!

i have not read all the replies just a few after mine. i have a reciept an invoice that was sent with my merchandise. i have no where to upload it at so I will be happy to scan it and send it to one of you guys for all to post out here. whoever is the most trusting on the board i guess. so if someone will volunteer i will be more than happy to email it to you.
i bought two strider ranger swords. one for me and one for my dad. also too i paid by a phone order "amercian express" is what i paid with they do have a merchant account they only take paypal online. phone orders, mail, and fax they take all major credit cards. i too am one of the people that have gotten ripped so many times i do not even want to re-live it. ebay sellers have gotten rich by screwing people and i hate to say i am one of them. so yeah we all are nervous i understand and took it as no disrespect to me on your replies. i found this board after i talked with shannon after i got my order. i asked her if she knew of any good collecting communitues i could find. she said that the guy that referred the store here was part of some side show board she did not know the location, or the name. but all you have to do is go to google the community was not hard to find. i thought i had the wrong one but this one looked pretty good and then i saw this post and found out this was the one.

i bought, i got, and i happy, AND food for thought, they had a "shards of narsil" in which they provided the serial number only one in stock "sold". they also had two "andurils le" in which they provided serial numbers. and the person that purchased the anduril has already sent in a pic for the collectors gallery. just put the prices of the merchandise aside for a minute and make sure that you are stating facts about this store before you slamm them.

1- you all were concerned about how they took payments. in the post where someone had posted an emil from shannon she explained her business and how she was operating and then she explained that, they have a merchant account not just paypal. but then on down the line in the posts you all go off and say looks fishy just paypal yeah, right, uh-huh, something is not right here. but you can go to the site and plainly see they take more than just paypal.

2- she plainly stated in defense of herself and business in the email that the only way the store could prove itself is to wait till you get what you paid for. i think all on the board should just not buy anymore until some one 'besides me' because i a "newbie" comes through with "i got my shipment" then you all will be at ease. kinda wait beore you start throwing daggers at someone. better yet you have any questions just call or email her. it is always best to get things from the horses mouth anyway. then to sit in an opening community and gather your own asumptions about a store that you have not even bought from or dealt with. I understand we all have been ripped, but do not shoot your own self in the foot in the process by being too careful.

You have to understand however that due to the fact that a lot of people got ripped off by scammers, the members of this board tend to be extremely cautious.

Nothing you can say will really change that, solely because you are such a new member. Nothing against you, though!

It's just that we have had incidents were a scammer was found out and then joined this board under a different name, stating that he had done smashing business with this person. Basically trying to get credit and build uo a positive reputation for his own scamming self with the intention to lure people into a false sense of security.

So like I said, nothing against you but it will take the positive experiences of long standing members to take away the doubt.

However, I too have ordered from Shannon (like I said above) and I found her most helpful and trustworthy. I have no hesitation in doing business with her.

Drizzt Do'Urden is a Drow (Dark Elf) character from the Forgotten Realms (TSR). The books by R.A. Salvatore are considered the ultimate on Drow culture.

The swords were designed by renowned fantasy artist Todd Lockwood in cooperation with Salvatore.

Not really LotR, but a must read...

the purpose of this thread was for LOTR swordsThat's not what the name of the thread says. Granted, it did start out that way, but it moved to other items as well. And since I do not want to be accused of playing with double standards -as I was mainly the guilty one to bring on the subject of other swords- I decided to move it to off-topic.the one about the fan club lithos and the one about the MR stingI agree that they are borderline, but since it is still about LotR, I'm not too fuzzy about it.

And with all due respect and sincerely no nastiness intended, I do understand where you come from though... This thread has far more exposure in the main category. And since you get a referral bonus for every item bought because of your posting, you gain more by having it in the LotR category.
And yes, the deal is excellent. But the posting is also on the edge of spam.
Yet another reason to move it to OT. I could also move it to Sell/Trade if you prefer...

I got my UC Helms today!!! Very pleased with Angels in the Outfield. Authentic items and arrived as stated. My Elendil helm did have some chips on the post of the display stand. No big deal though as they can be turned to the back where they are not seen and for $189 shipped I'm definitely not complaining.

Good luck to everyone else if you're still riding the fence. I'm definitely a very satisfied customer.

Hey Nemo, Have you tried contacting her through the website?

I know alot of people have been very sceptical of her initially. I know I received my stuff as ordered, but have to admit I likely would not have placed an order if I had heard your experience first.

I know several of the others here have had good communication with here via email and direct phone conversations. If you haven't tried the contacts listed on the website, I would give it a try. Who knows maybe there was just some honest mixup or problem. Very optimistic, I know.

Lynxje WOW! :dunno in one week! I have been in email contact with Lasher33 since yesterday on his items as they are at customs in your country but have taken awhile to get there. Not a long time but longer than I thought. As all are sent air. hmmm...I have been researching on shippings to other countries today because shipments are now coming in. We have not shipped this much over seas. Before we started the summer clearance it was mainly USA and Canada so we are learning as we go on shipments over seas. :)

The add to cart button is gone on the Anduril and scabbard. Due to high demand and slow shipments from UC. The Scabbard will not be out till Dec. 2004 and it seems like the NL anduril is a huge headache with UC. So when we find out when more of these will ship to us at a time we will add it back. 2 Swords every other week or month is not cutting it!!! :rolleyes

Today I received Hadhafang, Narsil, the FAKK2 knife (non LotR), the Elven Princess 'Shards of Narsil' statuette and the Elven Knife of Strider.
Two more packages are still in customs and I imagine that several are still underway.

Most were posted just over a week ago, so very quick indeed.

Funny thing is that stuff that was posted before has not arrived yet.

The quality of these weapons is just amazing. The blades could have been a bit thicker or more sturdy, but the detail and craftsmanship are absolutely stunning.

I have the UC Narsil too Lasher! Fantastic sword but don't let people bump into it, it has a habit of falling off the mount when people knock into it hard enough (asdf.. people have done it twice at my house.. hah fortunatly no one nor the sword were hurt)


I think you were the person with the pic of 3 balrogs, and in the back on the wall I think I remember seeing a sword in between closet doors. Was that your set of pix Lasher? i wonder where you'll put Narsil... I myself am interested in also getting the Helm of Elendil by UC eventually. Those might be my only two UC items I'll get. Perhaps the sauron helm if it's good enough.

The sword in the picture is the Heavy Metal 25th Anniversary sword, designed by Luis Royo.
He has been my favourite artist for years and the painting where this sword orginally appears on ('Nine Tongues and One Tear') is the best and most powerful painting that I know.

BTW, I no longer own three Balrogs. Two of them have found new homes in Australia.

Just received my sword form Shannon, Hadhafang, its my first ever sword, and im really impressed with it, really well made, and surprisingly sharp!
Very good packaging, only problem is that it hadnt been marked as gift, so got stung for £30 at customs, but still a cheap sword! Will hopefully be shopping there again some time!

That sounds ridiculous...

I paid E28,- customs charges for the $119,- Elven Knife of Strider. E10,- was for the paperwork of the clearing agent, E18,- was the VAT (sales tax).

I know that we're not in the same country, but we're both EU. Besides, the UK VAT is lower than the Dutch, which is 19%...

BTW, I just received the scabbard for the Sword of Strider (what a beauty!!!), the sword of the Witch-king (huge) and the Samurai 3000 Plasmium Tanto (non LotR, but what a stunning weapon).
Customs charges on all three items: E57,- and that includes a E20,- clearing fee.

I have advised Shannon not to put words like "sword", "dagger", "knife", "samurai" etc. on the shipping invoices. Whenever customs sees those words, the package must be handled by a clearing agent and that costs money (& delay).
For instance, Hadhafang was only marked as "Hadhafang" and went through without clearing and no VAT!
Of course this will not cover every occasion that a LotR sword is brought into the country, but at least some will stand a better chance to go through without extra payments.

BTW I received notification from customs that another item is waiting to be cleared and the guy that delivered the packages just now told me that a large box just came in to be cleared as well...

I know Peter, thats the most annoying thing, its all the imporing duties to the UK, juts makes everything so expensive, its the same with everything in this country, especially petrol, CDs, cars, Houses, actually pretty much everything!
I mean, $60 customs for a $100 sword is mad expensive imo, I think it works on how much you ritem is, like regions, i bought a muppets collection of 4 busts from Amoktime ages ago for $130 and had to pay £31 customs on that too, so maybe something thats $300 will have £42 customs charges, or something like that.
Just hope that if i do have any future orders that they can get through hassle free, for my savings sake!!!

You are in the UK right? Because one of these is the UK and the other is Netherlands.

With the sale of Hadhafang in it. On all customs forms in these files they were marked as gifts. So I am not understanding why it is not showing up on your end. Unless I am looking at the wrong files.

Thank you all for your help, this is a bit confusing on our end with customs forms, fees, dealing with different countries. Large orders being placed in every direction in the world. So it is fair to say that it is over whelming for us!

I am big on communication with out that with our customers we can not better the shipping here at AITO. But with you alls help we can learn the tricks of the trade to where we can help you to avoid the fees on your end. :)

Big Al I looked though all files on merchandise sent to the UK and they are all marked as gifts on our end on the custom forms.

I posted this in our private board community for the customers,

We have a great deal of international customers and the only thing we will not do here at the customer request is send the merchandise marked as 0 dollars and no insurance. We did this ONE time and boy oh boy was it a mess. So this is from a past mishap as to why we are so strict about this! Insurance here is not an option it is required. We may charge shipping to other countries but we will pick up the tab on the insurance. And we will mark it as gift and send it in different packages for you but that is all we can do. It is better to be safe than sorry! Because if it is not insured we can not refund or replace merchandise!

UR welcome on the service anything else we can do just give us a yell!

My first order was shipped the 15th of July as well. Part of that order arrived three days ago, part is still underway. This batch was sent non-priority (an apparent mistake, as it was supposed to go air) and that can take up to six weeks (or more!) to arrive. Boats across the Atlantic aren't very fast.
Quite a few of the items that I received were sent airmail and that only takes 1-2 weeks.

Glad to hear that more items are arriving slowly but surely! ccb25 we are looking into Global as well. Our international customers will have a choice of which ones they want to use. Everyone will be told if they choose USPS the headaches that can happen with them. They are GREAT here in the USA but can be a problem internationally and if there is a problem the only thing is not be able to track. We have been holding our breaths here at Angels on some of the shipments.

That last one is really weird. Even though Shannon sent it airmail (it says so on the waybill too!), it took 5 weeks to arrive!
Even items that were sent non-priority that same day have arrived quicker than this one.

Yes, sometimes it takes a while for stuff to arrive. Not always through her fault though... I received Strider's Ranger sword 5 weeks after it was dropped at the postoffice. And that when it was sent airmail!

at aito customer community there is a ton of updates on the store and all that is going on. aito is on back order with a great deal of lotr merchandise. and a few shipping issues with usps as lasher stated above. it is taking time for this store to get orders filled. i still have 2 orders left that she has contacted me on as far as delay. one is the sting for me too. i ordered for xmas for a friend. from my understanding sales have esculated and she has brought on more staff to help with the workload.

i think she will have the gauntlet but i heard they are sold out (manufacture) every where. might want to send her an email on it.
