Nice pics. My last house have bird's nest on the grape vines. Accidently ran over a possum, crushed its head, that survived for a few days(not by me :monkey3). Garden snakes that must've a colony nearby cause I see them almost every year. And I never see them beyond my backyard. And of course bee hive...small.

Current house, I mostly see rabbits and small bee hive. Although there's deer in the distant area, they never go to my vacinity. Maybe I get to live down south one day and catch a glimpse of a Jersey Devil!

Cockroaches, stray cats, termites, ants aren't new. Although I don't live near cockroaches anymore, LOL. Used to be ghetto as ghetto gets.
We have centerpedes and milipedes here as well, although they are minute due to the seasonal cold weather.

Out of curiosity, you get some of those 3-6" long centerpedes or maybe longer milipedes? I've seen em nasty, scary or beautiful red centerpedes before but they're on warmer climates; not native here on somewhat colder climates.

Every few days or so I poke him with a stick to make sure hes not dead. If I want him to dissapear becuase I have a lady coming over or something, all I have to do is yell "INCOMING!!!!" and he gets up and sprints away. I don't know what he does when hes gone, but once he came back with Mickey Mouse ears and a ticket stub to Disneyworld.

Good answer. Trust me, that pond, river, etc looks like it might be an area that I can live off of. You get those cat fish that walk on land or snakeshead fish around? I've heard of cat fish that walk around on land when a thunderstorm or rain season is on. Cause I tried gator meat when I was at Memphis, Tennessee and it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Maybe I got a bad part/serving. That gator looks like it can be delicious if cooked right. Maybe the catfish/snakeshead too. You don't need a license to catch em do you? I know I would need a deer license in my state but I am not into deer....just about harmless creature. Gators, we don't need as much in Florida, I assume. I am sure they repopulated themself already.

You are brave to try shark. I haven't tried that one. I suppose once in awhile won't be bad as they said about high mercury content in em. Probably not as bad as giant tuna. But of course tuna just looks more appetizing.

Here's a view of our "backyard" from our living-room:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a339/maglorsregret/P1140388.jpg

We see squirrels and rabbits out in the lawn all the time, The tree line is like an aviary and we often have hummingbirds and orioles at the feeder. But we recently had a new visitor. My wife was watering the hanging plant the other day, and a bird flew out of it! :panic: It just about gave her a heart attack, but she thought it was a fluke thing and forgot about it. She went to water the plant the next day and it happened again! :panic:

Turns out a morning dove made a nest in our hanging plant!

Seems like an odd spot for a nest, and seems late in the year, but anyway here she is:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a339/maglorsregret/P1140335.jpg

It's funny, sometimes she flies away when you open the door and sometimes she just sits quiet. I went into the storage closet (which you can see above) to get the swiffer mop, and completely forgot the bird was out there. I walked within inches of her and she never moved. However, she flies away every time the plant gets watered. Thankfully she keeps coming back to keep her eggs warm. :)

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a339/maglorsregret/P1140390.jpg

^^^ She flew away seconds after this one.

Mags, mourning doves are really stupid. They'll throw together a nest almost anywhere. When I turn into my driveway, the dummies will sit and I have to beep my horn to get them to move. Then they'll just stroll to the side to let me through. I've seen many of these get taken out by hawks simply because they just sit there and get picked off. They're too busy watching the hawk swoop down on them to move. I think they're high most of the time. :lol

When I went outside today, there was a pigeon in my yard. We don't have a lot of those around here and I haven't seen one in years. We have a lot of mourning doves, but not pigeons. Anyway, my dog spooked him up to the top of my garage and he sat there for quite awhile. I went back in and after while looked out and he was sitting on a wire near my house. It got dark and later I looked out and there he still sat, in the dark, on that wire. He sat there all through a small storm we had too. He's still sitting there. I would think he would move to the trees to roost and to have protection. If an owl comes through and see him, he's a goner. I know nothing about these birds, so are they just dumb or what? :lol

He's a pretty bird, looks like this one:

LOL...I was concerned at first with AHB's setting up residence around here like they have. But at least these guys don't seem to be Africanized. They are pretty docile. I was able to get within about ten feet of them as I was watering my wife's fruit trees. I am actually glad they are here. I am sure they moved in because of my wife's mini orchard. And they are good for the fruit trees. So as long as the worst that happens is that they bump into me and bounce off like they were ealier, I welcome them.

Of course, I will be monitoring the situation very closely as my three kids are definitaly not going to be put in danger for them.

If they're honey bees, they won't bother you much because they only sting as the last resort because they can only sting once and they'll die. We have a lot of those around my house, but I haven't seen a swarm of those. If you don't want them there, you can call someone and they'll remove them. Not kill them, but move them. I don't know about where you are, but killing honey bees here is a big NO NO because of so many dying off to disease the last few years. Very nice pic of them!

Yeah, I have seen on TV about the massive die-off of bees. So along with the fact these are not aggressive and are good for our fruit trees, that gets them a pass to hang out as long as they will.

I have these two little guys that live behind my place. I see them every night.
I swear sometimes they look at each other like they were having a conversation. I really like them. I love that they live in there lol
