Anyway, at least Hudson is done. Now just have to finish that Hicks conversion. It's a pretty hard job, but shouldn't take me too long. I am lining them up and taking them out this week. Trying to at least get 1 or 2 finished a night. :rock

Spike? Got that one quite a while ago. It was an Eydylhands sculpt that I think was commissioned by someone on one of the other boards. Might have even been done on the early days of the old EZ Freaks board. I can't recall who had commissioned it.

08-21-2007, 08:32 PM
Thanks guys! Yeah I did indeed redo Maul's eyes, touched up areas on the face to fix the tattoo placement. But the eyes were key, did not want him staring straight ahead like a Sith Zombie. :lol
And Ian, thanks for the comment. That is exactly what I was aiming for, Asajj as if she were in the film series. Wanted her to look more realistic and not just straight from the cartoon. Thankfully SSC already did a bang up job on the clothes, so no changes there yet.

Hey DA that Sith Obi Wan is stunning! I might have to borrow your idea and try to make one for myself, if you don't mind, of course.
The thought of Obi Wan being a Sith is pretty scary, I think he would have killed the Emperor a long time ago. I don't see Obi Wan being an apprentice to any one. Scary thought. Are there "alternate universe" stories of Obi Wan becoming a Sith and not Anakin?

Oh wait until you see him when I am done! :D
I want to fix the eyepatch to look more in scale, but at least the uniform is there. Something about that look for him, I really think it's cool.
Xander made one Hell of a transition after he lost his eye and they defeated the First. The person he is in the Season 8 comic, well that is a man who grew up and found his role in this fight. The transition is quite nice and makes sense for the character, I really like where Joss is taking it.
I used Rambo III pants, British Wooley sweater... Combat boots and a walkie talkie.... Instant Season 8 Xander!

I'm still in the stone age with an old fashioned film camera so since I need 24 shots to develop I'm waiting until Clem is done so I can shoot him, my Human Spike, Vamp Spike, Subway Spike vs Nikki, my Spike's crypt background I've made, my graduation day Buffy holding the Troll hammer I made, and hopefully random vamp. Just waiting on my silicone.

Well I got the pants from Red Planet Toys and the rest of the gear from Monkey Depot. Most Dragon and HT stuff works for SSC, most of it actually fits BETTER as well. You'd be amazed the amount of cool stuff you can find.

Well, just got Drusilla, Grad Day Buffy, Vampire Buffy, Angel and have Spike. Still need Werewolf Oz, Willow, Vamp Willow and the Master. Might still try and score Vamp Spike and Subway Spike... but still debating those.
Damn I am an addict. :lol

Dude, I can relate to the addiction. I started gathering the Buffy figures less than a year ago and I'm only missing Darla, D'Hoffryn, Dru, Werewolf Oz, Angelus, The Master, Liam,/Angel, the Gentlemen and Buffy.
I just got Subway Spike last week and I'm finishing the subway car backdrop for his battle with Nikki the vampire slayer. The exposed joints suck but its a cool figure. Vampire Spike is very nice as well (Once you repaint him since he has a tan) but has some of the coolest accessories including a great fractured skull, a shotgun and the gem he wears in chosen.
I believe the werewolf Oz has "Cornelius' hands" from POTA, but a unique headsculpt. The human Oz is a fabulous piece, and perhaps the only one you might not think needs a repaint. I can't wait ill you get Willow because I would love to see if the paints can help her out. The vamp Willow is very good though.

Thanks Sean! I really can't tell you how damn hot she looks just standing on my commissions shelf. I wish I had one too, just to have her as well. I really tried hard on the hair especially, because a real radiant red is hard to pull off without making it look TOO red. So I just layered it with several custom shades that took me forever to mix until I was satisfied with the low and highlights. Overall, she turned out fantastic.... and again my Redhead fixation starts anew. :monkey5

:monkey5
Well again, great job, and I just realized you gave her Gillian's freckles on her shoulders and chest, great attention to detail there.

Ok guys... Had a great night tonight, almost done with another Ash and finished Scully from the X-Files.. And when it came to shots of her.. I thought what better way to pose her than if she had been waiting for me in nothing but a coat as I delivered her pizza and she debated on how to "pay" for it....... (Ok, so I had my Scully fantasies in high school... so sue me.)

Josh, that is a fabulous repaint of Scully. Its great to see you painting something with 'looking ahead' eyes.... much more lifelike and realistic than some of the 'angry zombie' eyes of your earlier works with them looking so high into their eye sockets. You should do more like this

I'd be honored!
And to be fair to Josh, I think he did a great job on Scully.
I think his style always runs towards the dramatic, and I for one like that about him. It's why some of his subjects are so dynamic. Scully is less so normally, but Josh brings to her his personal style, and so she has this intensity to her that another artist wouldn't have done perhaps. I like that. I might make her a little softer. (Although she was a punk chick in her youth...) I think the way he painted her, and posed her in that set of photos, is a no-holds barred example of Josh's style. Fetching as hell yet dark somehow. The "Dark" Scully. Who else says Yummy! :monkey5
I would know a Darkartist paintup at a glance. That is what having a style is all about. So, that is good. And for what it's worth Josh, and not to sound contrary to what Darren said, as I understand it for what he meant, I like your occasional "zombie eyes" look too, as I think they work well on dark characters. Your Anakins are hard to beat my man! He for sure had that look. Almost always.
Anyway, I see more and more a personal style developing in Josh's work. He learned much from me I can see, but I have seen his older, very personal artworks that predated our meeting. And they reflect somehow in his newer paintups. I am not sure how, but they do. And again, some of his work is so striking, and so personal, that you almost don't know how to react to it. Very graphic. Very...dark. He named himself well.
Sorry to go on so, but you guys all need to see more of his works. His 2-D stuff is amazing and if this makes any sense, any of it would make a cool tattoo. Not sure why, but it would. Very graphic and designy...shapes, dark lines, shadows....cool stuff!
So, you just keep on rocking, Josh. I have shared much knowledge with you, and you with me, and I am grateful for this exchange. And I see you taking all you have picked up and how you filter it through your own mind's eye, and am always amazed at what different results I see when you are done.
Keep that up. That original style. Don't listen to anyone. (I don't mean the occasional well intended creative critique), Just keep being you and you will always get the results you seek.
That is what is making your work shine. See the responses! That speaks for itself. :D

Damn.... :duff
Les, it means a lot to me bro... reading those words. I know we have talked about this on several occasions, the differences we have in style... How we can know who painted something before even really knowing for sure. The way that a person's soul comes out in the work... It is something I know when I see your stuff, the power in it... The depth of character.
And for my own, it is about darkness and the dark side we all have... no matter how noble or good we may be. My art has always been like that, from my beginnings. Somehow, even when I don't obviously tap into it... that it still shows through on something like Scully. The dark side is still there in the paint, and it's something I use for my art... so there it is. Funny that. :lol
I really do appreciate it Les, and I am very grateful to have a peer like you that I can toss ideas off of and discuss this very strange hobby we have. :rock

Hey guys! Back again! :banana
Financially, I got screwed.... Looooong story, but first the bank charged me late for overdrafts that they caught during a QA on my account and I did not have internet access while in Orlando so I come home to a plethora of negative charges and overdraft fees that have plunged me into big time negative town. So now even my Jaws sale, the Boba sale, Aragorn, Mark's shipping help and all my commission money won't even save me.... I'm in a terrible bind.
I even was charged for an order for a Boba Fett that I thought had been cancelled. Hence the sale in the commerce thread.
I did have a great time at Universal and Islands though, so at least it was worth something. But still, it keeps me from getting all this finished work out of my home and back to you guys. So I am going to be selling a lot of stuff to try and make up for it and get the stuff shipped.:monkey3
And to make it even worse, as if it couldn't be..... I have reached my Paypal limit for the month for withdrawals, so can't transfer the money I need to my bank account. :monkey4
So... thoroughly screwed am I.... at least until I can sell some stuff or until next payday. But I promise you all, I WILL make it happen however I have to.
I'll update you guys as I have it. Again... I am very sorry for all the delays.

Yep.... That is my dilemma. I just tried to push it too hard, thinking that it would all be ok when I got back. But now I am short on bills, shipping and gas money. So that Boba really screwed the pooch for me, not to mention those late overdrafts. Really was an eye opener as far as how I handle my financial responsibilities. Some of this was my fault as well. :monkey2

You got buddies here the likes of which I bet, no one else has.
Sounds like the toy gathering got the better of you. I go through that from time to time myself so I know as well.
This trip I just went on, to see my brother's kid, well, it cost me a lot, and there went plenty of figures on the cancel line, and I didn't go to the Custom show in San Jose on the 1st of September due to pressures to go to see my nephew (of the two, I went to the right place though...glad I did...). Either way, I was gonna be out some serious dough. Got to pull out myself.
But you will rally. I know it. I can see activities and buddies working behind the scenes now...you'll work it out. And you are not alone.
It will work out. If I can be of any help, let me know.
Glad you had fun at Universal. That's good for something. Remember that.

Josh, I think Obi-Wan is one of your best because, at least going by what I've seen around here and your site, it seems to be the most creative in every way. It is such a perversion of the base material and so abstract from any reference point for the character, it's just all you and your inner artist shining through in full force. Much as I hate seeing my beloved hero fall, if he has to fall, your way is the best way to go!

Thanks Sean.... That is an amazing write up... If my stuff were a movie, this would be one of the quotes to help sell tickets. :lol

Some people have asked that I post my 3 Anakin repaints Josh did. Here you go.

Also... I realised it was a bad mistake to set Faramir's gentle soul next to the Kurgan.

I wonder where his head went? :monkey3

I haven't had Josh do a repaint for me yet, but I did have the privilege of photographing Marc's Ghost Anakin from Josh, and I'll tell you, I'd seen a lot of pictures of Josh's work on here, but none of them prepared me for the quality of seeing it in person. He does an incredible job and I'm very glad Marc entrusted me to shoot his Anakin, it was great to finally see Josh's work in all it's glory.

Thanks Marc! It's great to see them all in a row like that! And with Les' wonderful Luke looking over them as well... that is freakin sweet! :rock
And great Kurgan pic too... poor Faramir... where has his head gone?? :D
And thank you as well Sean! I'm happy you got to have that Anakin with you for the picture shoot, that was one of my favorites. And I'm glad you liked it as well, your shots made it look fantastic. Wish I could get you to shoot all my stuff. :lol

Not as of yet, but there is good news... This weekend is going to be all about the paint work and I am going to tackle Hunk and try to get at least halfway done with him. My backlog has gotten out of hand and I am going to hammer it back down and get it to a manageable state again. So keep an eye out for updates man, they are coming soon.

Tonight was very very eventful. I got done with several projects, one personal and 3 commissions. Finished a Hudson/Hicks conversion and Blofeld as well as continued work on a Frontline Apone. It was a great night! Pics tomorrow...:rock
