As for Rorschach, the first one (Bwayne's) should be done tonight. I've got it about 99% there right now. The rest will follow very shortly.

Perfection. Even my wife was impressed. Myer's weathering is amazing, such a great attention to detail. Really really sells the figure, the dirt on his boots and the rips in his coveralls at the bottom rear his boots is awesome.
I coudlnt take any pix that did Myers or Roys weathering justice. Its has to been seen 1st hand to really be appreciated.

I wish I could! Maybe one day... I know my little enterprise keeps expanding, I run a store on Horrorbid now, and I am adding new figures to my lineup all the time...
Eventually I might need to legally make it a true business and hire my Wife to help me keep up with everything, maybe a painting minion to lay my base coats. :lol

I want to address a growing concern about the Joker project, that I really want to answer publicly and thoroughly. Firstly, I would like to apologize to those who have waited so very long for this figure. I know it's taken a long time, and if you have one already...you can understand why this is so. It's a highly intricate figure that honestly, I should never have taken upon myself to make in such large quantities. It was a big mistake on my part and taught me a huge lesson about what my limitations are.
I know that Hot Toys has put out their Joker, soon to be plural... I know that Les has offered his head replacement and so has Howes/Kuato...not to mention the PLETHORA of heads available online now. So it has rendered my figure a bit null and void, long after the orders and payments have gone through. Add upon that, the wait you all have had... it makes it harder to deal with. I can't tell you how sorry I am that it happened like that.
Let's go into the WHY of this project's lateness and why it's been so delayed. It's not from moving on to new projects or flat out laziness... I assure you. There are valid reasons. Firstly, the shirt. I was an idiot and thought I could just paint the pattern on every single shirt quickly...which was not smart. Secondly, I had to rely on very slow shipping parts from a store in Hong Kong... which can take up to 3 weeks to ship something to me, one time it even took almost a month! Thirdly, the parts for the figure total to a whopping $100, which left me with $20 for payment of my painting and building of the figure.
Let's go into painting of the figure... it takes more layers for a Joker head than ANY other headpaint I have ever done, tons of work on the head alone. The jacket has to be de colored and then dyed, the shirt has to be hand painted with the pattern (which takes me at least 5 hours to complete), the socks have to be hand painted with the pattern, which also takes time. And initially I was soaking paint into the vests, which was a nightmare, now I've resorted to spray paint. Shoes have to be painted, gloves have to be painted, and finally the entire figure is slightly weathered. It's the most work intensive figure I own and I don't even sell them anymore... simply BECAUSE of that point.
I want to sincerely apologize for how late they are, I know that you guys must hate me for it, but I am trying to do a lot all at once right now and they WILL go out to all of you that have paid. I promise. I never have gyped anyone and I do not intend to start.
The other projects aren't as far behind thankfully, but the Joker is. If it were easy like Myers or Roy it wouldn't be that way... but the Joker is a complicated figure. :banghead
Thank you all for being so damn patient with me, please just hold on a little longer... I promise they will all go out. Just understand how damn hard it is to do what I do in the small amount of time per day that I have to commit to figure making. :duff

But let me assure those who are waiting, Josh's work is PHENOMENAL!!! Attention to detail is second to none!I didnt get a Joker from Josh, but I have a handful of other Josh works and they are spectacular! Once you get your figure from Josh, you really see how much love and work he puts into them!
I hope you get past these troublesome Jokers Josh and on to more horror realted figures :rock

Hey, I'm more than happy to wait for your greatness Josh. If I wanted another Joker, I would have ordered one by now. But the first ones I saw just floored me. I think the only think that HT might have on you for the first Joker is the clothes, but they can do everthing in huge lots, so we all know how hard it was for you.
Well, I think that you might have to start charging a bit more for these kinds of figures. We might not all want to pay it, but I know that they are worth it with each and every piece being hand done, which makes it more than worth it to me!!!!
I think you should be making money on these just like everyone else and I've got to say that $20 made on each figure is just not worth doing IMO. So if you do start charging more, I will be more than happy to pay it!

But let me assure those who are waiting, Josh's work is PHENOMENAL!!! Attention to detail is second to none!I didnt get a Joker from Josh, but I have a handful of other Josh works and they are spectacular! Once you get your figure from Josh, you really see how much love and work he puts into them!

Josh's, and for that matter any high end customizer's, work has to be handled with a different anticipation mindset than Sideshow, Hot Toys and Medicom product. It can't be cranked out in the speed those guys can put out product, but the end result far surpasses the quality of a mass produced item. You can wait 8 months for a Sideshow or Hot Toys figure, and the end result is usually good, but screams mass production with the lack of depth to the small details that give the extra quality and realism. Hot Toys might give Michael Myers a dirty bottomed jumpsuit, but they won't have wear and tear shredding that Josh gives it.
Josh's work is absolutely immaculate to the eyes when you get it in your hands, no photo can capture it perfectly or convey the feeling you get when you open that box and see the piece in person for the first time. Anyone that throws money his way for any figure or paint job will not be dissappointed. Have a little patience, give the man time to make the piece the best he can, and the rewarding feeling you get when it's finally in your hand will make up for all the time waiting.

Thanks a lot guys... I've talked about the project a lot with Les, and vented a bit with him about my personal nemesis, the Joker... But I really wanted to share it with all of you guys. As Kuato said, it's hard to come out and admit your wrongness or your faults like that... but it had to be done. And as he knows... the Joker is a TOUGH paintjob, really draining creatively.
I can't tell you how much all of your comments uplift me, it really is hard to keep plugging away day in and day out on a pile of work that never gets any smaller. Starts to crack your mind a bit. :lol
I can't believe I won that Aayla! Really hope that doesn't hinder my chances at any other contests, but very kickass to win something! This is my third Spooktacular win since I became a SSC fan, pretty cool to have it happen today...when I am feeling so bummed out. :duff

No worries Josh, great things take time. It would be one thing if you were taking forever and sending out a crap figure but thats not the case, your giving us a beutifully crafted figure(s) with so much attention to detail that is mindbogiling. You put so much of your self in each figure that it makes it all worth it, dont beat yourself up we all sometimes take on more than we can handle dude, this whole experience will just help you become a better artist . I want to address a growing concern about the Joker project, that I really want to answer publicly and thoroughly. Firstly, I would like to apologize to those who have waited so very long for this figure. I know it's taken a long time, and if you have one already...you can understand why this is so. It's a highly intricate figure that honestly, I should never have taken upon myself to make in such large quantities. It was a big mistake on my part and taught me a huge lesson about what my limitations are.
I know that Hot Toys has put out their Joker, soon to be plural... I know that Les has offered his head replacement and so has Howes/Kuato...not to mention the PLETHORA of heads available online now. So it has rendered my figure a bit null and void, long after the orders and payments have gone through. Add upon that, the wait you all have had... it makes it harder to deal with. I can't tell you how sorry I am that it happened like that.
Let's go into the WHY of this project's lateness and why it's been so delayed. It's not from moving on to new projects or flat out laziness... I assure you. There are valid reasons. Firstly, the shirt. I was an idiot and thought I could just paint the pattern on every single shirt quickly...which was not smart. Secondly, I had to rely on very slow shipping parts from a store in Hong Kong... which can take up to 3 weeks to ship something to me, one time it even took almost a month! Thirdly, the parts for the figure total to a whopping $100, which left me with $20 for payment of my painting and building of the figure.
Let's go into painting of the figure... it takes more layers for a Joker head than ANY other headpaint I have ever done, tons of work on the head alone. The jacket has to be de colored and then dyed, the shirt has to be hand painted with the pattern (which takes me at least 5 hours to complete), the socks have to be hand painted with the pattern, which also takes time. And initially I was soaking paint into the vests, which was a nightmare, now I've resorted to spray paint. Shoes have to be painted, gloves have to be painted, and finally the entire figure is slightly weathered. It's the most work intensive figure I own and I don't even sell them anymore... simply BECAUSE of that point.
I want to sincerely apologize for how late they are, I know that you guys must hate me for it, but I am trying to do a lot all at once right now and they WILL go out to all of you that have paid. I promise. I never have gyped anyone and I do not intend to start.
The other projects aren't as far behind thankfully, but the Joker is. If it were easy like Myers or Roy it wouldn't be that way... but the Joker is a complicated figure. :banghead
Thank you all for being so damn patient with me, please just hold on a little longer... I promise they will all go out. Just understand how damn hard it is to do what I do in the small amount of time per day that I have to commit to figure making. :duff

Great news, last night I finished 6 Myers paint jobs and just need to add hair to them. Also, right now the Ash head is being molded. I will be working on some late stuff tomorrow, namely Meta's stuff which is the latest I have. I will also be finishing the Joker vests.
Tonight is all about Roy, Myers and Joker though...I will be trying to finish up at least a few of them... didn't make my Halloween deadline, but I won't be much longer on the first run. :duff

I'm 41 so I watched H1, 2 and 3 in the movie theater when first released.
H1 is my favorite horror movie of all time, it's the only Halloween movie that has the spectre of THE SHAPE and H2 is the only movie that captured "Michael Myers" right.
I refuse to watch 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20 and the only thing I like about Zombie's version is indeed the mask although nothing could ever replace the mask from 1 but 2 is also awesome.
It makes me sad when I meet so many teens or early to mid twenties who tell me that H1 is very boring and that Hostel and Saw are better movies.

yep ... when I go to the cinema to see a horror or watch one on dvd I already know nothing is going to take my favorite horrors.
The thing , The shining , Halloween , The Texas Chainsaw Massacre , Nightmare on Elm street to a certain extent and for me Friday 13th part 3.
When I watch a new horror I can like it or love it but it will never have the same effect on me as the movies mentioned and a few more did.
If you watch them enough and can have enough dedication and apreciation for them they will never leave you......

I miss the days when Horror actually had suspense... Like Halloween, The Shining, Jaws, Alien... Not like that anymore.. everyone wants things to be fast loud and intense... that's not how fear works. It's a slow build.
If I am in costume and I JUMP out to scare some one, screaming.. I might get a cheap scream. But if I stand there and just stare, wait for them to laugh it off and try to shoo me away or get me to talk... just stand there and stare back, maybe move towards them slowly... Well, their barriers get broken down and they start to doubt themselves... Fear gets a grip on their brains and they might run or start trembling. THAT is how it's done...
Modern horror doesn't get that... it's really sad IMO...

I really wanted to be a filmmaker for many years of my life, it was always a dream of mine... I wanted to bring horror back, to bring fear and suspense back to the genre. Nonetheless every great "horror" flick has the same thing in common..........Suspense! Hitchcock was the first to perfect it and the best thereafter followed his trend imo.

It's not an "Interview" style Vamp flick or "Twilight"... No... my vampires are terrifying and grotesque... as they should be. The story takes a lot from classic Vampire myths and the original tales that spawned them, so it's pretty freaky. I hope to finish it eventually...

Well, i'm the complete opposite...
I was one of the makers of 1988's Cannibal Campout and even played the big doofy lumbering cannibal with the helmet (aren't they always). The movie was released and it can be purchased right on amazon (No, I get no royalties).
Well, that career never went anywhere for many many reason (aren't there always).
Here we are in 2008 and I'm in a completely different career.
Life's paths sure play tricks or treats although having a family and my new career are treats.

After watching the Laurie Strode trilogy last night (H1, H2, H20, which is a nice trio story if you take away the kill family at 17 concept in H20), I went to sleep watching RZ Halloween and it surprises me how Rob actually managed to use come classic suspense in his film once Laurie's in the Myers house. There's one part when she first wakes up there and stabs Michael and runs and they had a perfect mix of music and her emotional reaction as she's trying to get away and Michael's just passed out on the floor. Nothing's happening but it builds you up to feel like "oh man, what's going to happen" and that's the best part of horror, when you're given that time period to know something's going to happen and, especially once you've seen several horror films, your mind starts to come up with horrible ideas of what's going to happen you get more scared that you're going to see it happen and it just keeps building up in your mind until blam you get the strike moment, which if done right is very abrupt and just needs to be a quick, 2 second action, just enough to make you jump after your brain's been coming up with ideas for a minute or two. You don't need to see someone get diced up, just made to expect it's coming over a period of time until you're totally freaked out and then a quick image that makes the implication it happens.

Thanks Jen! It's happening, I have a working outline with basic plot points laid out... I have images and how I want the vamps to look, very Nosferatu in styling but even more horrific. And the transformation....think of it as like the Fly remake...but for becoming a Vamp. Should be a fun story and a fun read!

After watching the Laurie Strode trilogy last night (H1, H2, H20, which is a nice trio story if you take away the kill family at 17 concept in H20), I went to sleep watching RZ Halloween and it surprises me how Rob actually managed to use come classic suspense in his film once Laurie's in the Myers house. There's one part when she first wakes up there and stabs Michael and runs and they had a perfect mix of music and her emotional reaction as she's trying to get away and Michael's just passed out on the floor. Nothing's happening but it builds you up to feel like "oh man, what's going to happen" and that's the best part of horror, when you're given that time period to know something's going to happen and, especially once you've seen several horror films, your mind starts to come up with horrible ideas of what's going to happen you get more scared that you're going to see it happen and it just keeps building up in your mind until blam you get the strike moment, which if done right is very abrupt and just needs to be a quick, 2 second action, just enough to make you jump after your brain's been coming up with ideas for a minute or two. You don't need to see someone get diced up, just made to expect it's coming over a period of time until you're totally freaked out and then a quick image that makes the implication it happens.
You know its funny with me, I can never make up my mind on this movie, it IS actually a real good movie but just lacks suspense. I watched it today and again it is a really good movie. It just doesn't touch Carpenters, thats all.

Absolutely it's not close to Carpenter's. The funny thing is, Rob hits on the classic horror stuff in the last 20 minutes or so, but the first hour is a muted version of modern horror, harsh violece, blatant attacks. If it were a sequel instead of a remake, I'd probably like it even more. I still think it's the 3rd best entry in the Halloween series, but knowing it's remake, I still partly judge it against the first instead of as an independent film.

hey DA, hate to keep asking this, but are my heads close to the brush yet? i know you have quite a few projects on the boil at the moment (great projects!) but just wondering if you had an ETA? i remember in jan, you told me that it might be about a 2 week turnover :lol the delay doesn't bother me at all - i know you've had a tough year and a busy one too. and i'm glad you've had a year full of so many amazing custom projects (to think you produced all that in 10 months - you're a one-man plastic factory). i'm just after a quick update.

I miss the days when Horror actually had suspense... Like Halloween, The Shining, Jaws, Alien... Not like that anymore.. everyone wants things to be fast loud and intense... that's not how fear works. It's a slow build.
If I am in costume and I JUMP out to scare some one, screaming.. I might get a cheap scream. But if I stand there and just stare, wait for them to laugh it off and try to shoo me away or get me to talk... just stand there and stare back, maybe move towards them slowly... Well, their barriers get broken down and they start to doubt themselves... Fear gets a grip on their brains and they might run or start trembling. THAT is how it's done...
Modern horror doesn't get that... it's really sad IMO...
There are a few out there, just not too many. I would say Session 9, Blair Witch, and most recently, The Strangers. By and large, I agree with you though.

Excellent question.
First, my favorite horror movies:
Halloween 1, Exorcist, Black Christmas (original), The Ring, Jeepers Creepers 1, Friday the 13th 1, Blair Witch 1, The Howling, American Werewolf in London, The Thing (Carpenters), The Others and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1. There are others, just a sampling.
Gore DOES NOT scare me therefore Hostel and Saw DO NOT scare me. Michael Myers, Jason, Freddy and Pinhead DO NOT scare me. I laugh at these dumb characters. Yes gore is required in certain circumstances and is used in The Strangers to keep the move grounded in reality as it should be.
H1 is a classic because it's THE SHAPE in that movie and not Michael Myers. F13 only has Jason at the very end in a very effective scene that was scary the first time and still makes me jump when he comes out of the water. Too think that at one point a F13 movie was actually scary, remember Marcie in the bathroom in part 1, and not garbage like 2 thru parts 1000.
That being said, i'm not saying that all the movies on my top list are all scary, some are not and some are but all are classics for me for one reason or another.
The Strangers goes back to the 70's to get its influence and it's an almagation of Halloween 1 (70's), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (70's), Charles Manson Helter Skelter story (69-70's) and Black Christmas (70's), elements were taken from all of these and combined to make an effective scary movie.
As we all know, sounds in the dark, real life situations, violation of one's private life and home will always be scarier than gore and silly Freddy Krueger being shown 100 x on the screen cackling away.
I now regret not seeing this movie in the theater with a crowd although it's just as effective in your house in the dark especially with a sorround sound.
Heck, this movie would be scary during the day with no surround sound, that's how scary it is.
I'm happy that I went into it not knowing anything about it. Now, i'm not saying that I wasn't frustrated with some of the decisions that the characters made in The Strangers but regardless, still very effective.
I hear that The Orphange is also scary, I have to get that one.
Please, do yourself a favor. Rent it. You won't regret it.
Then please let me know what you thought.

It makes me so happy whenever I see people who love this movie. I agree that this was one of the scariest movies I have ever seen, and may have the scariest single shot of all time. Once you see it, you will know the one.
Black Christmas is a criminally unseen movie by many. Do yourself a favor and pick this gem up!!

I don't know if I loved The Strangers as much as some here, but i did like it a lot and it's totally worth a rental.
One thing that I really liked - at no point do you leave the POV of the victims. No cuts to anyone lurking outside, no killer's POV watching the poor schmucks running away. You are trapped with these people and it works.

Thanks man! That blot is the other one you showed me, the FIRST appearance of Rorschach in the story. Which I thought would be neat to have be the first one I did. I now have 3 that are being made at the same time next up... which will be fun. :rock
Joker vests just got finished, am dying the jackets right now and working on the heads too. Myers and Roys are being completed en masse as well... which is easier for me.
It will be nice to have somewhat of a clean slate though, soon... at least for projects. And I can hammer out the rest of my headpaints and take more full figure orders.
Ash prototype should be done this weekend as well. :duff

No, I just know Josh and I agree on Loomis' importance to Halloween and I know his horror collection would look great with a Loomis in it and when I saw the trenchcoat, color and style looked good, I figured if it hadn't crossed his mind, I'd point out it'd be good for a Loomis figure so he could hold onto one or pick one up for that purpose, not sure how hard to come by those trenchcoats are.

I think so too! I love Shawn's work, but his style is very apparent in his figures... so is mine. So I think with my own Myers, I should have my own Loomis. I probably won't be able to offer many or anything, but I am looking into a way of doing it.
Right now I am getting the coats from Eddie Rickerbacker... so once that well dries up... I will have to have them made or something.

Definitely! Loomis IS Halloween to me, once he left... so did a lot of the magic. He deserves to be made and in my collection, no matter how long it takes.

Ya, and he was a saving Grace of Rob's Halloween, McDowell gave just as engaging a performance as Pleasance. Acted right, and Loomis is such an entertaining character.

And Matt, I can certainly give it that blot if you like. I was going to keep them all unique, but I don't mind bending the rules. They are, afterall, you guys figures. :rock

The blot on his was the first scene in the comic, Rorschach's first appearance. I don't mind doing another one like that at all... and no matter what I do it will be different in it's own way. :rock

I took a break off of my commissions tonight to spend time with the Wife, but when she passed out a few hours ago... I decided to spend my free couple of hours on the Evil Dead 2 Ash prototype. The only thing that ever bothers me with no arm sleeves ( sigh.. sarah connor ) is the arms showing with all the joints !. :lol Maybe one of Shauns arms ?.

Is it just me or does the head look a little out of scale (too large for this body)?

phenomenal Ash bro!!! Repaint and weathering are top notch! Blood stains are awesome. The head does look a bit too big though - I wonder if another body would help with the scale. Maybe the arm sleeves will help with that.
But that weathering... unreal!!!!!!!

Thanks guys! Yeah, he does have that classic Sideshow noggin. HT body may help, but I am not sure how much. The only problem there is the fact that I can't afford to buy a HT body for each Ash I do.... what with the $35-40 tag on one WITHOUT feet or a neck attachment. That would run my commission cost from $160 to $200....which is insane.
They need better bodies on the market for cheap. Dragon needs to make some big boys or something. :lol
I think the arm sleeves will give him some bulk. Dragon bodies have notorious skinny arms.

It is pretty annoying that Hot Toys only releases their packaged True Types in limited runs. Sideshow and Hot Toys need to realize how much easy money they would make selling their new body types as accessory items on a continual basis. Same goes for the She-predator body!

Yes indeed you will! I am on track right now to finish these large commissions, finish a whole mess of heads that I am working on at the same time... (despite lack of pics, I do work on many things at once). So during this month of November expect a LOT of movement on my front. Myers is finally on the home stretch, as is Roy. Joker is getting there as well... Thanks man... Yeah, I have about 3 commissions that are nearing or passed that century mark... and it is killing me. But 2 of them are nearing completion right now in fact. But that leaves the 6 month guys that need to be caught up on. It's insane how fast time catches up with you.... I've never had the days melt away before I started painting, seems to get harder and harder to keep up. :lol
Tonight there will be more pics, many more. I hope to get a good bit done, long overdue things. :duff
