Man, thats a lot of work... is that Deckard by chance mine? If it is, with just a base coat he is nearly unrecognizable.

chapuchi
04-13-2008, 09:33 PM
Thanks Chapuchi. My favorite at this current time is the Games Workshop Fine Detail brush. But any of that similar type works well for fine lines and such...

The biggest key is watering down your paint a bit so it's highly controllable. The thicker the paint or the dryer it gets, the harder it is to paint a nice crisp line.

Thanks for the tips DA, looks like I'll be stopping by the nearest Games Workshop store today.

Wow you got a really big work load there...especially all those Joker heads at the top! *hopes one of them is mine*

I just noticed the hexagon pattern pic there, I still can't believe the amount of detail and time you put in other people's customs!

Yes indeed it is! It's great how only one coat of paint will show how nice a sculpt it. Paint changes everything.

And thanks everyone, I really do appreciate the support. It's crazy how things get sometimes. And Josh, it is funny seeing a desk full of naked figures. Makes me laugh every day... especially when I try to explain it to outsiders. :lol

That is awesome, just like that you can see how much it actually looks like Ford, whereas before those stock paints (with one iris much larger than the other) were just atrocious! Glad to see he is in the right hands :rock

And that Xenia is another fine entry into the pin-up gallery :rock

You guys amaze me. I can apply paint evenly and i think I actually improve a bit on the factory jobs, but you guys can impart life into them that just eludes me at the moment.

Josh any asswipe that threatens to sue over $10 deserves a habanero suppository. You're part of an elite group that can transform plastic to something much more human. If I were you I would PM the other commission artists who this guy is and what to watch out for. Time is money with this stuff and his impatience means that the time you spent on his stuff was time you couldn't spend on a paying customer. He owes you more than $10.
Let the custom community know about this guy and let him play hell trying to get anything done.

[QUOTE=chapuchi;832090]You're making the wait for mine even more hard! :monkey5 :rock:rock

Tell me about it.

Thanks Anzik!

Today was Hell. I've been having huge problems with a guy lately. He paid me to make a set of zombies for him, he paid a few months ago and I started working on the stuff he sent. Later he decided to back out of the deal and requested his money back. I contacted him and asked for his PP address, he emailed me back a week later, angry. He said that I had not contacted him...

I responded again, saying that had already emailed him asking for the addy. I told him that I was sending him the money, and that I didn't appreciate him wasting my time on this commission.

I sent him back $40 of the $50 he paid, stating that I was charging a cancellation fee to reimburse me on the time lost as well as shipping for the items I had gotten for the commission.

He got pissed off and threatened legal action, saying that I was being unfair and not treating him right.

I'm at a loss, am I really wrong here? :banghead

Screw him... wonder if he would rather you deduct, time and materials due to cancellation !!! Then I am sure you could come up witha bigger number. ARSE !

Yeah, screw him... I'm not dealing with it anymore.

Anyway, here are the daylight pics of 805...

Sorry. I don't know what to add.

Maybe she's missing something?

It's the sculpt. The thing that throws it off is the jawline. They gave Famke this extremely strong jawline that makes her look too much like a man. Almost a caricature of the actress herself. This was the most feminine I could make her look... :lol

It took a lot of work. Famke is much much hotter. She still looks really good in person, these pics don't really do it justice at all.

Thanks a lot guys... I think he is off of my back now.. :lol

And yeah, Zack... I am looking into a possibility of creating Rorschach as a Commission project at my site. Just trying to solve the coat issue. I WILL at least be casting the head and hat together as one sculpt. Easiest way to make sure I have hats available. So I will be offering Rorschach as a head that can be ordered... at least.

I DO want to make The Comedian and Dr. Manhattan eventually as well. Lots coming in the future. Right now I am molding my original Joker head, the old school one. Need to make a few customs for people and that head will also be available.

Two Face will be the next mold, so if anyone wants that one... keep an eye out. He will be coming and will also be available for purchase on my site. :rock

Josh

P.S: For those waiting on shipping, I do sincerely apologize. My emergency sale funds went to bills and the money I have in my PP, I was hoping I would have my debit card by now and be able to access.

But I can't wait on that any longer... so I just transferred the funds and as soon as they get into my account (later in the week, hopefully Wed)... the stuff will be on it's way. Again, I'm very very sorry it is taking so damn long.

It's a nice pile, like 15 boxes. :google

It usually takes me a few hours of repetition to get that pattern right. It's not easy by any means. Makes me wish I were making these shirts from scratch, I could just print the pattern on the fabric and sew em up. Would be easier. :duh

But the hand painting aspect is kinda fun, brings it to an entire new level.

And when it came time to build him, I wanted to deviate from my older clothing and face paint design...

That new Joker looks great. I see a bit of Jack, Ledger, Ross, and your own pesonal twists to him. Very awesome. I like both the slicked back hair and the original one. I really want to! I know that Mr. Freeze is in the works, Poison Ivy, and more. Riddler would be interesting also, and I would want to do something unique with him. Not just the question suit, something a bit cooler than that. :duff

Thank you guys so much, I really appreciate all the Joker love! This one was a lot of fun, I had it ready for Bwayne and wanted to blow it out of the water. And it was a good excuse to try out the new mold. I wanted to separate it from my Ledger, so I went with the comic style white skin. I just added blackness on the eyes and smudges, where I imagined the black makeup and red lipstick had ran.

Then I just took my existing old Joker suit and revamped it for my good buddy Bwayne... and it was finished. :rock

I'm really happy with it and now I have another figure that can be made to order with the quickness. :D

Good luck on that Cap. It is a great head for a Smith, but not too sure it has the subtleties of Elrond within the sculpt, as in, it isn't quite as close a likeness as that...but it's not bad. Makes for a decent Smith though.

Good luck on that Cap. It is a great head for a Smith, but not too sure it has the subtleties of Elrond within the sculpt, as in, it isn't quite as close a likeness as that...but it's not bad. Makes for a decent Smith though.

Yeah, what Les said. It's an ok likeness, just a tad fat in the face and droopy in the eyes. :lol

It's the ACI Smith head... Just do a search on ebay for ACI 1/6 head and you will find it. It's all over the place. They also do an entire Saving Private Ryan set as well. Some iffy likenesses but pretty close.

MUST FIND SCULPT!

MUST MAKE CUSTOM ELROND!!!

Where on earth did you get this head sculpt?!? I've got to get one! I could totally whip us all kinds of robes for him--I've even started the early patterns to make the Council of Elrond red robes. How do I find one?!?!? :monkey5

Here you go.

By the way, great as always Josh.

If I could have somebody like Darren alter it though, it could be fine--it would make a great base, and with his talents it could be amazing!

I need to start saving up for this custom--it may be my first full custom effort. Hmm. You've put my mind to work, Josh . . .

I do have some news.... A few months back when I announced my "retirement", I had outside motives that I did not reveal. I was in contact with my local Navy recruiter and was attempting a return to the fold, so to speak. I was going to go back to active duty and get my life back on track...

It, however, did not come to pass. I was in limbo for a while there, made a few trips to Tampa for paperwork and such. But, it turns out that since I went to a psychiatrist while I was still in the Navy and once after I got out, that they don't want to risk taking me back. I guess I'm too much of a head case. :lol

So, now I am in a hard spot. I'm working a minimum wage job, half of what I was making at my previous job, and it's a PT job, they don't have FT available. None of my other applications have proven fruitful, so no chance of a second PT job. And to make it even more fun, I can't go back to school yet because I only get one deferment per calendar year... :banghead

So, it is in my best interest to cancel my repainting "retirement" and become available again. I'm almost caught up on back logged work now anyway. So, now you guys know the whole story....

Anyone need anything, just let me know.. I'm VERY available now. :lol

Thanks a lot guys, I need it... Last night, I actually thought my Wife might leave me. She and I were going back and forth, she wants me to get a degree in something, but do it in a way that is affordable. I want to go to an art school, but they are always expensive... It's something we've gone back and forth on for a while now. So last night was hard. Thankfully, she's still here..

And Zack, yeah... I never thought I would do that either. Just got desperate I think. Tired of not having anything or doing anything. Really hard to find work anymore. I can do almost anything, and artistically I have been blessed with a multitude of various talents... But out here in rural Florida... it doesn't count for much.

I just want to have a career eventually, I want to be able to work creatively and get paid to do so. But, it's just impossible to do if you don't know anyone... and I don't know anyone locally. All my friends are here. :lol

I really was pushing to go to Full Sail here in Orlando, just to get work in the film industry. I just wanted to help make films, I don't want notoriety or to Direct... just wanted to contribute to the artistry. But the tuition is insane. I do get GI Bill money, but it's not enough. Financial Aid never came for my last semester, so I don't know if I am actually eligible for any....

I'm just at a loss, I don't know what to do anymore. :(

Usually, I've tried to live without the pressure of it.. just pretend like I don't have debt or anything. But Therese, she doesn't. I understand Josh. I wanted to go to the Academy of Art University here in SF when I got out, but the tution alone is like $15K a year. Then add on like $5K for a new high-end digital camera and lenses, then put a new laptop on top of that. And then unless I can work to pay for a place to stay, I would probably have to pay the $13K a year boarding fee. So that would have been well over $100K to get my BA in photography. I would have loved to go, but there is no way that I really could.

Man sorry to hear your plans didn't work out (although a little hard for me to be sad you're not back in the military with the way things are these days). But I know the feeling of being in limbo and watching money get tighter and tighter... the job market is real ^^^^ right now.

About financial aid... typically as long as you are over 24 its based on your income (would include your wife) but has nothing to do with parents. I can't imagine you not being eligible. I had a friend in graduate school who had the GI Bill and she would also get money to cover the remainder of tuition and have some left over to use for expenses.

The FAFSA is online and is a lot easier to use than it was 10 or 12 years ago when I started school :monkey2 And if you have problems or questions hit me up, I've gone though it and my wife used to be a financial Aid counselor.

Ouch. I can certainly relate to being in tough spots like this, and it is really hard to know what to do, where to go, and how to get there.

I do know that you're tremendously talented and, perhaps more importantly, passionate about your art, and that you will find a way. It may be hell to get there, but you'll get there eventually.

I've found when life ^^^^s on me hard, a way out is always presented to me. It's just a matter of staying positive in order to see the way out, and to take the initiative to follow it.

That's the one thing that has kept me from being an atheist. There are too many small miracles that happen when life throws me through the ringer that I refuse to believe them to be a series of coincidences. I'm by no ways a religious man, but when I continually get pulled out of the fire by small miracles, it really makes me think.

Why am I rambling like this? I dunno. Just stay positive, and I hope good things will come to you.

Start at a junior college first if you have to. Just because you pay through the roof for school doesn't make it the best. I went to a local university for teaching and was able to make if without loans. I had originally planned on going somewhere much more expensive and would have had at least $80,000 in loans to pay back. In either case, I would be making the same amount no matter the name of the university on the degree. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks a lot Coco! The initial run is about done, if you want in on the tail end of it, just let me know man. I can fit you in for sure. And great thing is, I might have the striped pants figured out by then as well as other cool bonuses. :D

Thanks Zack! I'm cranking them out now, hopefully I can get them all done here soon. It's getting faster, that's for sure. The first two were hard, but it's getting a lot easier with each one I do. Assembly line style. :rock

Here is the Myers... still kinda rough in areas, I need to buff out a few of them. But I kinda like the rough spots a bit, adds to the masks look. But, here he is... The Boogeyman...

Thanks guys! I've studied that mask for a long time. The features on the cheeks, mouth and forehead are the most prominent and took me the longest to get right. I'm really happy with it and can't wait to get it cast.

:lol Good one Neehar...

Wow guys!! I'm seriously FLOORED by the response. This was something I have been doing for Blake here on the boards, dragging my feet on it for weeks. Last night I just had that creative urge, sat down and finished it. It just needs a little bit of buffing, but I'm very happy with it. And I am so honored that everyone else loves it. It WILL be cast and available for everyone, you can bet that. And if anyone has any links for some good Mohair, maybe Les or someone, please let me know. I want the best for Myers. And Brown Mohair for sure. :rock

And Les, yeah the original eyes are in there under the mask. Will be on the Warlock too, I'm hoping to get that one done tomorrow. Will be a nice one two punch. And with the Saturday Toys Jumpsuits on the market right now, it's perfect timing. I'll probably buy up a bunch of their yellow ones that never sell, dye them that dirty green of the screen coveralls, and we will have some badass Myers gracing these boards. :rock

That bad boy is being molded as we speak.... Looking into Mohair options right now and clothing options. If anyone is interested in a full figure, let me know. Same for just a head.

I should have the prototype ready here in a few days at least. :D
