hey everyone, there has been a great response to my MONACO diorama base and LIGHT UP electric whiplash whips. so its time to open up the thread and take some orders. ill tell you a little about it first.

the base measures about 19 inches wide, and comes about 15.5 inches out from the wall, the fence is 18 inches high. it will be cast, and the fence and guardrail will be reproduced and built as well. it will also have shredded 1/6 scale F1 race car parts, like in the film, and a crowd backdrop behind the fence.

im offering it with or without whiplash’s whips.
with the whips, which will be fully integrated , the power box and wire will be hidden and built into the base. the power box is very small, and runs off a 9 volt battery, or i can include an ac adapter so you can plug it into the wall ($10.00).

so for the whips and the base, its $250.00 (add $10.00 for ac adapter)
without the whips, it will be $200.00.
for just the whips without the base its $100.00, $90.00 if you send me your whiplash whips to use for parts. Otherwise I cast the pieces myself.

this is the SHIPPED price (in the USA, outside of the USA , and alaska or hawaii it will be actual shipping.)

ill get to work on each persons base in the order you are added to the list, to get on the list i have to require a $100.00 deposit (this is to purchase all the parts, and so i dont get screwed and stuck with a ton of finished dioramas.) PM me for my paypal address, and in your payment be sure to include your username and shipping address. ( either as a gift, or enough to cover fees please if youre uncomfortable sending as a gift.)
i’m going to cut the list off at 8 people, and once those orders are filled, ill decide if im able to do more.

here are some photos, followed by THE LIST! (keep in mind, race car parts, and crowd background will be added)
thank you all!

* due to the underestimated work and materials cost associated with this base, the first 8 people on the list should feel very very lucky! hate to do it, but the price has to go up if i am to take more orders past these initial 8. the mold will have to be re done, and i wont do it unless i have at least 3 more people on board. just one of the drawbacks of doing everything yourself, by hand i suppose! haha i have a feeling once people start getting their bases and taking photos, word will spread, and there will be more interest, so i needed to chime in and mention that the new price will be 300.00 shipping NOT included this time. sorry to do it. i know its hard for people to imagine why it would cost that much, but trust me, doing it alone, one base is about 48 hours of work, and the material cost is... alot.
im not complaining, i love these things, and will be SO HAPPY to see them in people photos, but its tons of work.
i also appreciate everyones patience with the process, if this were my only job i would have been able to bust these things out. but unfortunately it is not. thank you all! *

Damn, that's an outstanding dio Bishart. The crowd and car parts are going to really add a lot of details.

At this point, it's a bit too rich for my blood....but if by "car parts" you mean a 1/6 Rolls sliced in half, you can count me in. :) :clap

2 questions:

1) Do the whips flicker or are they constantly on?

2) How much would shipping be to the UK?

It looks awesome. I've been twitching to buy something 1/6 figure related for a while now and this may just fit the bill...

the whips flicker, at any speed you choose OR they are constantly lit. the power box has dials on it, so you can adjust it to your liking. (ill take some pics of all that stuff soon.)

shipping to the UK, i have no idea right now, im sorry, i dont know how much it will all weigh until i get my first cast.

hope this helps! and thank you!

So how does the 'Speed' dial work on the power box?
Does slowing it down bring it from being constantly on to flashing/pulsating?

'Bright' dial pretty much speaks for itself.

no actually, the ON button you see there on first click makes it flicker, the speed dictates the speed of the flicker, then click the ON button again, and the whips are solid. click it again, and its OFF.

hope that helps!

A question that should be asked (and may have already), and be made for all to read vs. in a private setting, how good are you at meeting your goal of the finished product for the client? I only ask because a few customizers here have burned a few of us Freaks in the past. I think it's only fair I ask this question. Do you have anything to back yourself up in this regard. Not trying to be rude, but covering everyone's bases. Also, I am interested as a potential client.

of course its fair to ask... ive done lots of customs. my icon is the liono i made, made 6 of these guys for people on facebook. also made the king webstor motuc figure, 2 of those, 3 blackstars, 3 cheetaras, 1 panthro, the matty collector figure, made someone here on the board a custom iron patriot 1/6 scale with base.
here are some photos of stuff ive done, sold and done again and again for people. mostly people on facebook, or ebay, but if you need refrences i could pull them together.

also am a professional working comic book artist, so know about finishing things. finished a 300 page graphic novel, NATHAN THE CAVEMAN www.bishart.net/nate and sold over 400 or so copies of that, self published, and sent out myself.
done several books since, working on several now, including one with marvel/dc writer JIM KRUEGER ( justice, earth x, avengers invaders.)

so i definatly can be trusted, and wouldnt risk my reputation, or toy trading and selling stature. haha plus if for some reason, like i fell deathly ill and couldnt get these dioramas done, everyone who sent a deposit would obv. get their money back.

here are some links to a few reviews of my work.

ok, sounds good man, i wont really have an idea about shipping cost to you until they are done, dont know how much different the cast will be than the original i have. the f1 parts are legit, from a nice 1/6 scale car. should have it soon, and then ill get some shots of how that will look.

yeah im excited to chop up a perfectly good racecar. but at the same time, there arent MANY parts, not big ones anyway, in that section of road in the scene if you look back. and i know how hardcore we all can be with film accuracy. so dont expect a whole f1 or something, haha. but it will look killer.

Another question I have for you Bishart is in regards to the posing you have on this dio. Since I currently have no Hot Toys figures I don't understand how they don't fall over on display without a proper base. How do they stay put?

its 20 inches from the left side to the right side, and 17 inches from the back to the front, the height is over a foot. i havent mentioned it, to the top of the fence.

i never use stands for any of my hot toys, they all stand pretty well, ive never had any fall over, just gotta pose them good. youre in for a big treat man once they start coming in! theya re the best thing ever, ive only been collecting a few months and i have almost 24. its a snowballing hobby youll never feel good about haha

Hot Toys figures can be made to stand without their bases.
Most of them come with stiff enough ankles, knees, and hips that they can hold a position.

The key is to pose them in a way where they still retain their center of gravity within the center of the figure.

Your posing options are more limited, of course, but you don't get that eye-sore of a stand.

but when i began, i started with iron man and war machine, and told myself i wouldnt be getting any figure with cothing, because then its a doll.. well now im a doll collector, starting with mech test, then 2 face, and then everyone. haha.

ok, the car is dead.

here is what i came up with as far as where to put what pieces to make the best diorama. if i went by the movie, there is almost nothing on this square of pavement.
BUT, were going for a good looking dio. here right?

so what do you think? nothing is stuck in place or anything. but i was at it for a couple hours, (its harder than you think, to put the pieces somewhere good looking, and to be conscious of what is actually possible with a one piece mold.) and this is what i think, looked, worked, and felt best.
i definitely realized that LESS is more in this case. having too much car parts totally intruded on the look of the dio. and the figures youre showcasing.
some pics, with and without whiplash.

I've decided just to stick with Iron Man and Predator now. So many great figures and licenses coming from HT though.

Cent: Do you have Whiplash and Mark V and VI on PO?I do not have Mk.V or VI preordered. I usually wait until the first wave of shipments gets in and make a purchase afterwards. I do intend on getting both armors.

Whiplash, I originally was not going to buy. But since Bishart came up with his dio, I've seriously reconsidered.
Afterall, what better way to display the Mk.V....battle damaged, wrapped in Whiplash's whip, and with the Monaco dio.

In regards to placement of the car parts...

I was thinking, maybe you could keep the parts loose. That way the final placement can be determined by the customer and changed around at their preference.

Doing this may help with packaging the dio also, but I don't know.

Just trying to help. :)

I'm curious on the packaging. As in for transporting. Can the whole diorama be flat packed/cushioned. Thats another thing thats putting me off going the whole way for the order. Due to a hefty import tax if it's bulky/weight from America.

I think I asked this partially but I got lost what thread I asked it in. Due to pages and pages no doubt would have piled up beyond the response.

I'd love to have this sit on one of my tower units. Import fees is such a pain/worry.

hey, yeah it will all be flat, the fence and gaurd rail will just be on top of the base, not assembled into it. id say a box that would have to be 6 inches high, and then 20 on its longest length? also cant imagine this thing weighing more than 5 lbs. im going to try to make it as light as possible.

I will crunch the numbers when I get back to work as I will be using our company UPS account but I am pretty much in. btw so no reduction in price since I will be paying my own shipping? ;) Also what is your target timeline for completing this? I assume you try to make them all together or in batches?

cool, again i dont know the exact weight yet, so whatever you come up with will be an estimate. i just cant imagine it costing THAT much. who knows.
timeline, ummm im working on them right now. going to get at least ten sets of fences and guardrails done at a time, while working to mold and cast the base. so obv, im hoping sooner than later. but realistically, id say a couple months.
the extra car parts just overwhelm all the figure space in the diorama, i had planned to have some big pieces there, but in that amount of space it just didnt look good . i definatly wont be making casts of more than what is there now. BUT you could always add scraps of plastic to yours, im sure that would work.

as far as shipping ill have to see what it comes out to for me to ship usa, and for me to ship to you international, we can figure out some possible discounted rate at that time. hows that sound?

I'm having an issue of where I'd set this piece up. The space I want to use is directly above my tv, but the max height of this area is 17.5in and it only goes 14.5in from the back to the front ledge. I recall you saying this dio extends almost 18 inches from rear to front :slap

BISHART

well, its not a deadline, you can always get one. but.

from the wall out, its 17. it will still work ona 14 shelf though because so much of it would be on the shelf, only about 2 inches overhanging. the height of the thing should fit too. its only a little taller than the guys, i could potentially make you a shorter one too.

take your time if youve gotta. the more i look at the pred. dio the more i am thinking of ways i COULD cast it.
it would involve getting rid of all that moss, and losing the wood vines.

if i could do that, and paint it all up, would you be MORE interested in that? or keeping the real wood?

I guess if you can cast the fallen tree trunk and still have it look real we could go that way, thus avoiding any scenario Reaktwon envisioned, no matter how unlikely we suspect those scenarios are. I'd definitely love if you could put the moss back on as it really adds a lot. Would this way add much to the cost?

hey everyone, remeasured this guy, and its going to be closer to around 19 wide, 15.5 out from the wall, and 18 inches high.

so for those thinking it may be too massive, that should be good news. though not that different from my original measurement.

Can anyone here provide the specs on a Detolf shelf. Wondering if it will fit in there? :monkey3

i just moved one yesterday for a friend. it will fit on top amazingly, and look really nice. but it wont fit inside. i think its somewhere around a foot deep and a foot wide.

Well, even on top works for me...It will be the 'crown' of my IM2 pieces on the detolf and be a nice counterpoint to the 'crown' of the IM1 detolf...BD Mark III fighting the (eventual release of) Iron Monger...who also will likely be too big to fit in a detolf shelf...

Kinda. Certainly big enough that I thought I'd covered all the main locations in the films that could work with the figures we have. Not that I'm not open to other ideas.

It's fun thinking of potential dioramas to make. I've made two in the past but I've hardly any space. That was with smaller figs too. It would be great to make one for a 1/6 figure but I'd need a new room for that. A dio for a 1/4 fig is a deffo no go:lol

alright, ll just ell you my idea. its not like its a crucial scene or anything,. but i was watchign t2 the other day and i was like THATS what im making....

showing arnold in the desert pulling the chains attached to the cover of the underground armory. its show it lifting off, and give the illusion the shelves of weapons go deep underground. i think it would be awesome. if i had a t-800 right now, i would have made it already.

hey sorry, just realized i never got back to your PM. that would be great. i dont have the funds to just donate one to someone right now though. sorry. if you wanted to buy one i would definatly put a rush on it, and get all these done in time. but i cant just spot one at the moment. thanks for the kind words though and it would be awesome for everyone to see it.

Not the most obvious but I think I could use that. I've asked Mr.Ecko about making the picnic bench from those scenes for the Sarah Connor figure. Your idea would be a good one to go with that....of course it'd mean I'd need a plain 'uncle bob' T-800 with the grey Tshirt to do the chain yanking :lol
