Yes, I'm waiting for tomorrow. That sculpt is sick, and the blood work on the clothes is great. I hope the security patch is stitched on. The way they have it now looks like it will come right off. I wonder if the name tag will read Humphries. And what's the deal with reading material (newspaper- P0 and magazine- S5) and watches with these 2 figures? Do The Dead need to keep up with the latest info and know what time it is?

Just got back to work from lunch, and this figure is AMAZING!!! To all those going to San Diego, you are lucky b@$t@rd$ for two reasons: The con is a ton of fun, and you have already been able to order this!!!

The next 24 hours are going to be the worst wait ever.

His keys, the security badge, his rotted face, all of the detail is awesome.

He looks more recently deceased than Patient Zero though, which makes this all the more perfect.

where is DNAgent on this one?

Yeah, I agree... I love the face and the clothing is perfect.. But to me he looks more "rotten" than Zero. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE that. This one is more than what I expected, so I guess the next 24 hours are gonna suck... BIG TIME...:google

I guess he looks more rotten, but more recently deceased as well, with more of his face aqnd such intact. Maybe Patient Zero came from a cold climate, and being dead a while, was still well preserved.

There is something about the new figure that just looks ... moist.

Yeah, true Seaward... he looks "moist", where as Zero looked more dried up. I'm glad they are not using just one "type" of zombie, but going for a more universal style. It's not a Romero zombie or a '28 Days Later' zombie, or even a 'Undead' Zombie... Each figure so far has been totally different in style and I hope that continues.

Zero was more of a classic zombie.. not really gory or messed up, just a few random bites and chilling eyes..

Five seems to be more of the Savini style zombie, much more damage, a grosser look..etc.

Now I'm all excited to see next year's!! :D

Seaward
05-25-2006, 12:05 PM
I thought he was definitely in the vein of a Tom Savini or a KNB zombie, but certainly more "modern".

I was hoping for an overweight security guard, with a big, bloated, distended belly, kinda like a cop zombie from Resident Evil

Sweet looking figure, I ordered mine!

Question though: Does anyone think this fig. will be as popular as Patient Zero a year after Comic-Con? I hope so, maybe then I might have enough ammo to trade for a P.Z. for myself! I'm going to try to have my buddy order another S5 for me so I won't be empty handed though.

I think Patient Zero is kind of an anomaly. Only 300 were made for that figure, versus the thousand made here. That means that 700 people won't be able to have a matched set, so PZ will likey continue to climb after people get this zombie, but this may hover at a lower price point. I also wonder how many people are watching ebay right now, and have this figure ordered based only on speculation.

She has known for two weeks
that we would be short staffed
tomorrow but 5 minutes before
she leaves she asks me to come
in early to cover. I would miss
the non attendees pre order
if I said yes.
I have been waiting for this figure
for months, even tried to get tomorrow
off but couldn't.

I said "NO, sorry I have an appointment

For some reason, the expression on this new zombie's face reminded me of a cover of Charles Burns' graphic novel series "Black Hole". The novel itself is not about zombies at all, rather about teen-age alienation caused by a strange teen epidemic. If you're not familiar with Burns' work, this is a good start. Here's a review I found (don't let the review turn you off though):

http://web.english.ufl.edu/imagetext/archives/v2_1/reviews/raney.shtml

Check out Black Hole cover no. 5 in this link:

I really love Burns' work. If any of you have some spare time, why not check it out?

Apologies for this off topic intermezzo!

Well I guess the Zombies' out of the bag. I'm really glad by the response. You guys really like Zombies! I shall make some more! I never thought that when I was working on Patient Zero (on my lunch breaks), that you guys would even like him. I knew there was a few of you out there, but jeez! Do we know how many non attendee subject 5 figures will be
available.
If the attendee is selling out so fast at 1000, if there is only 200 or 300
for non attendee they might sell out in minutes.

Migwit
05-26-2006, 09:45 AM
It wouldn't surprise me if these DO sell out in minutes! My guess is that there are more Dead-lovin' non-attendees than Dead-lovin' attendees, which means fewer Security Guards will be available for a much larger pool of buyers.

Lucky attendees.

I managed to get the Subject 5 last week, and it was a sweet and smooth experience. Counting all the posts from people that picked him up, we snagged about half the allotted quota, and it is still up for sale, unbelievable.

Down to 40 on the attendee version, and I notice there is a distinction between the two with the item number. The non attendee is 3003SC. Sure it stands for San Con but why, when the attendee version is 3003?

The best thing about an unlicenced line is the lack of comparisons. It frees up the imagination, and no whinging. Would it matter if the arms are too long? Could the arms be swapped for longer arms? A quick change-aroo on the production line and wha laaar.

The accessories are pretty good overall. The belt looks nice and thick like they do, and the torch and holder are on. The keys look a little plasticy to look at, and the badge looks to be a cross over, back to a stick on decal arrangement. It would look better if they weren't so clean and had some mud and blood spattered over them. Better than an overly thick material equivalent? I don't really know.

I couldn't keep up if they pumped these out. I'm all for less keeps the line alive longer, if spread out appropriately. As these aren't licensed, they can get away with a lower edition size. What about the Revnant? Isn't he dead enough to be called to rise from the cold earth?

Creech! I haven't seen you around much lately; good to see you post! I'm glad you were able to get Subject 5. I think a lot more people will wish they did in a year or so. As for the product numbers, they did this last year also; probably just a way to keep the products separate in the order database.

I hope they find a way to sew on the patch and not just do a stick on! You know it will fall off after a while, and that would suck!

And who knows, maybe The Revanant will make his appearance yet!!! :chew

Make mine a zombie Dusty. :monkey1 What a mess. Sideshow desk as an accessory, just as is, 1/6 scale. Maybe get a scan of Dusty after the SDCC when she is most zombie like. Job done. :monkey5

How about a Chris as zombie Charwen. and please, not the boot feet, and make the legs hairy. :lol

What about the DNAgent's fave, Marcus Trace MD.

It has to happen. What's the story line so far? Patient Zero. How did he get to be a zombie? No matter, somehow he has infected the security guard and that is an in to the old Sideshow complex. I wonder if I can scam a zombie out of an old Gandalf the bronze, that might have been left behind. Should be easy enough. If I do a deal with a medical sudent for some brains, I could make an awesome killing.

Where to now? How about an awesome zombie killer, loaded and stacked up with weaponry to cull the advancing hoard. We'll be needing a cemetary diorama, now. The Buffsters and UniMon fans will be after that too. The security guard should have come with a body part. Something that could be assembled in say six sections, to the Zero's accessory arm, to make a corpse Mat, Tom or Brant. A Sideshow Bob even. Can someone tell me if I am still in dream mode? Which post is this?

Experimental re animation eh? I guess it saves sewing the bits together and dragging the electrical grid down.:frank Maybe Sideshow tried to cover the electical drainage by experimenting during a pre-order. That might be why fans and servers are exploding.

I still reckon religous intervention is the least messy. :mummy Yes indeed, I pray for Sideshow to bring the mummy to life and what happens? They do.

So WTH just happened? For the past week or so the attendee edition was @ 30 or so, and there was no low quantity alert for non-attendee. Now I just read in the newsletter they're both sold out, so I check the website and sure enough, they're all gone. The mystery continues and their value begins to soar....

My guess... Sideshow took the remainders for give aways and contests and sold out both. This same scenario has happened in the past; that is, a sudden sellout. Both the Simpsons and Star Trek busts sold out suddenly after Sideshow included a lot of the busts as free gifts with orders. Just a guess...

While I don't have any pics yet, I'll tell you a bit about him. He is great! Dare I say possibly even better than Patient Zero :o (save for the lack of a tastely treat for him). The paint came out great. His belt is a bit different from the one on Sideshow's site. The Keys and flashlight holder are switched around and I'm not sure if they are removable. Speaking of the flashlight, it is heavy! It is made of metal and would make any X-files figure jealous. The magazine is a bit of a let down. It appears that Klauder is on the front (not sure) and the box art of Jason X on the back, but the inside is completely blank. A picture at least would have been nice, but Patient Zero's newspaper is much better. Overall, an excellent figure and I hope Sideshow's DEAD T-shirts are a sign we'll get one for the Spooktacular as well. This line really need to move away from Con exclusives into a regualr line!
