This piece looks great!
The exclusive is ultra lame, IMO. In fact, it's my least favorite of the 7 announced so far. Regular all the way for me.

I thought the exclusive was great.
1. It's out of place in the scene.
2. It suffers the same fate as the Mouse Droid and Training Remote- it adds clutter to the display in the same way that mini-busts do. I think I'm going to sell my Obi-Wan and Vader Exclusives and pick up the regular versions. It looks more sleek and aesthetically pleasing that way.
3. The Exclusive is much more expensive than ordering the regular version.
4. By the time this comes out I'll have 2 Lukes and 1 Vader. Do I really need another head combining the 2?

Actually, the more I look at it, the more I like it displayed without Vader's head.
It's distracting, just like the mouse droid and training remote.
My opinion of course. I think Elwood agrees though. :)
Hmm..tough call on how I will display it. I am thinking like this though:

I like what they did with the metal hair. It needs to look dishevelled, and this way it will be less likely to break. It gives it a much more three dimensional feel.
Now if they could just add 3D eyelashes...

Exactly. Filmwise it is out of place. It looks good with the statue though, it definately fits in. It's almost as if Luke is questioning Yoda about it.
Plus, you could always get a Vader PF and cut the head off and display that with Luke and Yoda. That would be cool.:lol

I watched ESB after this was revealed last week. Luke is running around with Yoda in his backpack, and they arrive at the cave. He sets Yoda down, puts on his coat, and goes inside. The backpack and severed head are seconds apart in the movie, so I think it works OK. It's the same scene.

Although I wasn't happy with the announcement I like the piece of tree, and it is a diaroma which I like the most.
Exclusive is not necessary I totally agree but if I order the regular from another seller in USA, then the shipment will be so high to Turkey which almost covers the price difference, because SS ships from EU warehouse and they have a very nice contract with FEDEX that I pay less than the usual price. (like 100 $ :rotfl )

Not too excited since I already have a PF Luke that I paid $250.00. But is does look great. Very Happy with the piece, but sad that I already have a PF Luke. I will never understand why SS made another Luke so fast in the line. Hopefully the reason is there are alot of figures coming in the next few years were doubles will be welcomed.

I ordered it, but will likely not keep the exclusive, I am not sure I want the head at Luke's feet. For me at least, it combines two seperate elements of the film - aside from being just somewhat gross (I have some little ones in the house), we'll see.

LOL....me too Tom! I just watched this last week, (my fiance had never seen any of the Star Wars movies, believe it or not.... and we were going through them in order... just so happened that the PF was announced the day before I was watching Episode V with her..)
It's not too far away in the film and it works IMO, and even though it's not 100% screen accurate for the movie, I will display them together..

Fine fine fine! Ya'll twisted my arm, and talked me into it...coerced me too. I'm ordering it. I wonder if this'll be the new trend, less time between the order date and when it gets shipped. Wasn't there a poll or something about a similar topic once before? I gotta say its nice not having too long of a wait, but its gonna make it harder to save for. My bet is it will be September, and with the way things keep getting pushed back maybe October...

Even if its sold out when you do have the money get on the waitlist. I don't know when PF Leia sold out, but I got on the waitlist March 20, and she was turned into an order pretty quickly.
BTW, I just went to order and clicked to see the flexpay schedule and the third payment is in October...do flexpayers get theirs later? Is the Q3 an error?

Seems like Sideshow isn't expecting this to be super-hot, with the two piece limit, the TBD edition size, and the non-priority preorder sale.
I'm glad I got my order in! Now maybe if a bunch of the fence-sitters lay off, the TBD will turn into a nice low run for the exclusive...

One can only hope. My guess is they'll run this out for weeks and if that's the case maybe a month or longer. If the final ES is 1500 or more I'm cancelling b/c it may be cheaper to find on evilbay believe it or not. Don't think there is much of a chance they'll cut this off before an ES of 1250 unfortunately. 500 would have been sweet.
I really don't like these open-ended ES Exclusives, they are doing it more and more but I understand why in this case, after all it is Luke and Yoda.

They may be a little unsure of what to expect, since this is the first new Premium Format figure in the Star Wars line since they began selling the 12" figures six months ago. A lot has changed since then! The 12" line has really brought a whole bunch of new people into the equation who weren't familiar with the company before. Their loyal fan base has expanded, and that might impact the edition sizes of future Star Wars items.
We'll see how many of these new 12" customers will be interested in preordering a real figure for a change! :D (Joke!!! Trust me!)
And the severed head will be the coolest Star Wars paperweight ever!

I am not buying statues for selling. So, even if get very valuable, I will not sell those. However, I also do not want something I paid 350 $ + 100 $ shipment to lost its value in time such as regulas Han PF or Luke PF.
If SS will keep the ES of Exclusives low, than this would be beneficial to both parties. Because as in GG vader ROTS and Yoda mini busts, if the price of a product falls so much in the market, population of the company also falls accordingly

So no one's raised the question yet - can Yoda come out and play? I was frustrated with the LotR weapon sets because you couldn't take them off the plaque - I wonder if Yoda will be permanently affixed to his backpack?

It's not about selling...
If you live in CA and have to pay taxes on a high priced item as I do and did with Grievous, it makes a big difference, especially if you buy a whole lot of stuff from SSC, as I do, so Edition Size makes a difference at some point.
It's funny, every time I talk to a SSC CS Rep and they look at my account they gasp and say something like "Boy, you have quite a lot of orders"
Probably well over 20 as we speak!

This is first. You can buy 2 Exclusive figure!!! The Edition size must be large. It looks awesome but it doesn't appeal to me at all. pal, it seems that you have no idea what I pay,
I am from Turkey, I first pay at least 100 $ to FEDEX for shipment plus pay 18 % tax, like 5 % for custom declaration over the combined price of the package + spend time at customs.
So basically, for a statue of 350 $, (if the package gets stuck at customs) the statue comes to a total of 550 $.
I just start collecting 9 months ago and I have over 15 orders pending from SS including expensive PF's and if I would be living in CA, I would be ordering whatever SS produces, regardless of the 8 % tax you are paying there Only the shipment price difference between you and me is like 75 $. :emperor

You may be joking, but I've become a convert. Even though I've been a Sideshow collector for years, I only recently started collecting PFs. Once I had Vader there was no question about me getting them all.
Convert here too, I love PF's alot more than 12", so much so I've thought about cancelling the 12" I have on order. The one thing that keeps me going with 12" is that I can put them around here and there, with PF ya really gotta make a spot for it.

Edition size will make or break this piece. It should be interesting. Because if the edition size is high I'm canceling and going to ebay, and there will be alot of cancelations. Sideshow is in a tough spot.
It would be great to see Yoda come off, but if this piece has a high edition, I'll buy 2 so I can saw off Yoda on 1 of the figures.

Order placed! Damn, did this order date just come out of nowhere?
Anyway...
I dig the piece. The only thing I hope they change are Luke's eyes. I feel as though it looks like he's straining his eyes trying to look back that far. If you watch the film, you'll see that he usually has his eyes centered as though he was thinking about what Yoda is telling him.
If not, I'll likely just change them myself, but it would be nice if I didn't have to.
It's all good!

I'd also like to see pics of the Luke sculpt from different angles, I think if you look down on it so he's facing you, the true greatness of this likeness would come through better.
I think you're right about this. The more I look at this piece, the more I like it. And I liked it a lot right from the beginning! The amount of detail in the helmet and tree base is impressive on their own. Another great job by Mat Falls.

I'm not going to say that I love the likeness of Luke but it is better than the first piece. It's no where near as good as Obi's (that's going to be hard to beat). However Yoda is spot on and this one of my favorite moments in the whole SW history. The helmet looks great too.

With the third quarter release date, it's obviously pretty far along in the production process. So I wonder why they didn't reveal it at Toy Fair this year?
I still think that Boba Fett was meant to be next but was delayed and Luke/Yoda gut bumped up a spot. Maybe we will be seeing a Fett announcement at SDCC. Then Maul and the droids won't be far behind!

It's the third PF Luke SSC made, but what's more important is that it's the first Yoda. I wonder if SSC will ever make an other PF yoda? I like the exclusive, and boy would it be cool if it where detachable from the base. It makes such a great "rear-view-mirror-hanger"...

I have the first PF Luke and I think his likeness is amazing, more so than this one. ( I know, I am a minority here). But the overall Luke and Yoda is fantastic. Vader was 2000, Grievous was 1500, Obi-Wan was 1250, and Leia was 1000. I was expecting this downward trend to continue and see Luke at under 1000. In fact, considering that this is a repeat character, I am actually surprised that it is so high. I think that anything between 500 and 750 would have been just right. In the end, 1150 is OK, though. Flipping isn't worth it in the long run. Besides I'd rather let another collector get a chance at retail.
Edition size of 1150 seems right on, once they're gone the Helmet Exclusive will be a must get I believe. Also Tom, I recall Leia Exclusive selling out in about a week to 10 days without too much fanfare.
I think the Leia Exclusive will turn out to be an amazing Collectible as more realize this is her Iconic OT Promo pose with the blaster. And once she is displayed, Collectors who didn't get her will want her even more.
Alice Adrenochrome
05-24-2006, 01:35 PM
Yes, I doubt that flipping is a good idea. It only works for certain items I belive. A 12" figure costs me about $90, including shipping and taxes. How am I going to make profit from flipping one then? No, it takes a gray hulk or some of the more limited Weta things to make some cash I belive. But, could you really part with your most valuable collectives?? I know I could not, unless I had too for financial reasons.

I always say the only time I'm getting rid of any of my collectibles is for a life saving surgery. And maybe to make room for newer (nicer, better) ones.
The Leia exclusive is really the only one so far that was an absolute must have for me. Grievous and Luke/Yoda come in second, and I split the difference on them, reg for Grievous exclusive for Luke. Han I didn't want the exclusive one, I didn't like the base.

Then I got rid of these big 3D skyskraper puzzles I had so I could get Vader, and GG, and order Luke/Yoda. I've got Spidey on the way and there are more SW that will come out that I want (Dooku, Maul, SE Anakin, Boba and Jango) and I know I don't want to stop there so I have to figure out a way to fit my vanity in my closet and put in more bookshelves. :rotfl

It is a great statue, better than the other Luke, but the price is too high with that edition size. Just seeing how low the 1st PF Luke is selling it would be nice to finally pay a low price for a nice statue.

Yes, I'd say it is at $350, Leia took about the same amount of time @ $275 Es 1000, Vader sold out in about 10 days @ $350 as I recall with an ES of 2000.
Edit: When SSC set the Edition size @ 1150 without warning yesterday, it took off fast, smart on their part.
I was hoping they would have included Yoda whiskers though, would have been so cool and easy to do.

I agree that this should be considered a fast sellout. $350 is a hefty price tage, and there are plenty of the first Luke PFs out there already for a great price. 1150 of these in a week is pretty good!

Agreed and agreed, but this is a two-pack, the first two-pack and as I mentioned earlier the Only Luke with a Yoda, maybe the only PF Yoda and the only cracked Vader helmet we'll ever see in 1/4 scale.

I, for one, could care less about the edition size (although I think 1138 would've been a more clever size than 1150). I bought this exclusive solely on the basis that it is an iconic, powerful statue and the exclusive is nothing short of amazing.

Theres is also a 2 piece limit, which is most likely helping sales. If the price was lower I wouldn't care about the edition size. Its like the LOTR UC stuff open editions, but you can get the items half of retail which is great. Sideshow you pay retail but the problem is on high editions the item loses value upon shipping. I think the same will happen with this Luke since it has already with the 1st PF LUke. I'm stilling getting the piece but I'm looking for the best price. Yes its a gamble if the price goes up, but I dont see that happening.
The last few PF Regular PF Lukes have been going for around $100.00 on ebay which is insane. Thats a $150.00 savings. I still think thats a problem, its a bad sign. The items are either over priced or the editions are to high. Add this with another Luke coming out, the prices will be going lower.
The new Luke looks excellent, but way pay top dollar? I dont care about the edition size I just want to get the best price for the piece.

It's a totally different ballgame when talking about exclusives. All of the exclusives have held their value or gone up. All of the regulars have dipped in value. You can go to any etailer and get the regular for under $300 right now. And you'll probably be able to get it for $250 after it starts shipping. But we're not talking about the regulars, we're talking about the exclusive. I would never buy a non-exclusive direct from SS becuase it doesn't make any sense when you can go to one of the great etailers and save a lot of money.

I, for one, could care less about the edition size (although I think 1138 would've been a more clever size than 1150). I bought this exclusive solely on the basis that it is an iconic, powerful statue and the exclusive is nothing short of amazing.
eBay values have little meaning to me. I buy these items because I like them and want them...not to resell for a profit.
I agree with you 100%. I don't ever plan on selling anything that I own or have on order. I am going to start to be a little more picky when it comes to exclusives and whether I should get them from SS or go to an etailer and save money by getting the regular version.

Very true, although I get my 12" regs from SS because I am too impatient to wait for the dealers to get it and send it to me. :p I wonder if the rewards program will make us want to spend more money to buy direct and get the points. If so, that'll be one heckuva rewards program.

It will be very interesting to see how they handle the rewards program. I really wish we could get a little more info on it (hint, hint Dusty). I feel bad for those that have dropped small fortunes into SS already.

Yeah, the regulars have dropped but I don't see that as a big deal. As long as they make it too my house intact and looking awesome that's my main concern. I don't plan on selling them so their overall value isn't a major issue with me because I think when you're concerned with the value collecting quits being fun. That's how collecting Sports Cards got with me. I loved collecting them but got to the point I was more worried about the value than what I was getting. So I quite collecting them.

Value can also mean the value of the piece to own and collect.

Nor do I, but you never know. For me its more about the frustration of spending a bunch of cash and then seeing it for much cheaper 3 months later. Or thinking something will drop and then finding out it has doubled in price. Collecting is a crap shoot. I think you can make educated guesses, but it the end you never know what's going to take off and what will plummet in monetary value and how long these financial trends will last.

Why? If it got delayed wouldn't that mean you had more time to save for everything? The only reason people should complain is if something got moved up, but that's never happened.
And Tom, we all know we won't see Fett until at least April so start taking your valume now.
