Looks cool. But I can understand why george cut it out. Just slowed the movie down big time.

Is it just me or is there some uneasy sexual tension between Luke and Biggs?.....very happy they left that out!

I've seen that before (I think its on a DVD I have) and I agree that its good that it was cut out. Still fun to see though.

Garrick Hagon exels in bad acting in this deleted scene... More about this subject can be read here:

My god they're all over each other -- a bit too "Brokeback" for my taste. I always thought a short scene between these two would better establish their relationship and Luke's desire to join the Rebellion but this scene fell short of accomplishing that and didn't belong in the final cut IMO.

Nice to see, but agree, was good it was cut. ANH drags a bit as it is right now from Vader choking the Rebel scum till we get to Mos Eisley.

One interesting thing me a bud were talking about after we watched Sith again. In Sith, Yoda is friends with Chewy. Yet in Empire, Yoda looks to the future that Luke saw and saw his friends were in danger. Chewy was obviously with them, but Yoda makes no reference to knowing him. Guess George missed it lol.

Are we a bit homophobic? I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder... I don't see any 'sexual tension' between those two. I agree, they touch each other quite a few times, but to me, it feels like they are just over-acting big times. I don't see the sexual dimension of this. Just simple and plane bad acting IMO.

Homophobic? Try distracted, two friends having affection for one another is one thing but this is overdone/over-acted (edit) here. Their touching and talking so close to each other is completely unnecessary and inappropriate for 2 buddies.

I think most guys will agree buddies don't talk like that in the real world, unless they're "Brokeback" buddies.

If I pointed out heterosexual tensions underlying a movie scene, would it make me heterophobic? :D

I agree that I sense more overacting in this clip than mutual simmering desire. :monkey1

I don't think these scenes were ever available officially on DVD. It was part of a CD-ROM set Star Wars Behind the Magic.

It would be cool if these were available on the Archive DVD set coming out this September. :D

You could argue that Yoda just saw a wookie with Han and Leia and no way of knowing it was Chewie. Or you could say that Yoda was just being tightlipped and kept his mouth shut. Or maybe Yoda and Obi-Wan had a massive brain fart during ESB and forgot all about Chewie and Leia. But mostly I think that in 1980 Lucas had no clue Yoda spent time on Kashyyyk during the clone wars.

Of course Lucas could always go back and add Yoda saying, "With them Chewbacca is, safe they will be." And then won't that piss alotta people off!

I think Yoda simply saw that Luke sensed danger and understood he had to respond. Remember Yoda was probably focusing on Luke's inner feelings with his own (not yet known) Sister, so "friends" meant others with her too, whether Chewie was directly in Luke's thoughts or not.

I think I posted this one already over here, but this site http://www.chefelf.com/starwars/ep1_1-10.php has some good reasons why there exists some frustration over the continuity of the PT to the OT. I don't agree with everything on there, but some of it is humorous and quite true.

Biggs could be a cool Exclusive figure. :monkey4 I'll place him next to Luke so they can be happy together. :D

This was set to be one of the opening scenes of the film. It would have sucked.

I agree and Mark's acting skills improved between ANH and ESB, remember ANH wasn't that long after "Corvette Summer". This scene in particular exposed his lack of experience and carried through with his encounters with Uncle Owen early on... but this scene simply failed to work.

It's a thin line between bad acting and two dudes being too intimate IMHO.

Male bonding is a tricky thing... esp. in the 70's.

Why should Yoda have to acknowledge it anyways? Not aimed at you.

Straight from the cyber-whiners... the ones who claim that Lucas has rapped their childhood. It looks like adult life still eludes them.

Given time and their all encompassing hatred for Lucas, they just might link him to the current high gas prices, the bird flu, and the war in Iraq. Hey, this might be the new "Six Degrees of Separation from Kevin Bacon" game. :monkey5 :monkey5 :monkey5

I found the whole site repugnant. Truly petty stuff. Note they only hate the additions to the original trilogy. Apparently, the original trilogy, as released, is flawless. :google  :google

Sometimes I'm really ashamed to call myself a Star Wars fan. I think it might be time to go back in the closet. :monkey2

The Internet is truly a wretched hive of scum and villainy

And yes. The 70's rocked. I was there. :D
