I admit, I was a little nervous about this piece, since I was expecting to be blown away, because, sometimes, you can expect to be so blown away by something that you can end up being just somewhat satisfied, or even disappointed. Well, I just couldn't contain my excitement as I opened the box, took the inner box out, and, finally, cut open the tape around the syrofoam. Yeah, I was completely expecting to be blown away; and as I lifted the styrofoam, and removed the packing, I yelled "HOLY FRIKKIN ^^^^^!!" I must of stared at it (it's still in the bottom part of the styrofoam) for about 20 min. Finally, I lifted it up and set it on the shelf, and did the usual brushing off of fuzzies, and I also used a little lint roller to get the other stuff. All this, mind you, was done while TPM was playing too. :monkey5 I sat on the couch and just stared for a another 30 min or so. I couldn't, can't, believe how incredible this piece is. This is one of those pieces that is so damn incredible, you can't believe you own it. Kudos to Sideshow for creating such an exotic piece. You guys should be proud; I know I am. :chew :maul

Out of topic, just for curiosity,
is 600$ a big amount for American people?
In Turkey there are families that get salary of 250 $ per month but Turkey is not expensive as US.
So in US, if you buy a statue for 200$, does this effect the general budget of an average family.

The average yearly salary in the U.S. is $39,795.33 per year, so $200 doesn't have much of an impact.
I'd imagine that the average Sideshow collector's salary is higher than that given the expensive products most of us on here buy.

I want it believe me. I really don't have any room for him either so that also plays into my decision to not get him right now. I hope Sideshow is smart enough to do a 1/1 bust like this one for Palpatine with the hood. :emperor
And what about A Vader helmet with shoulders and chest electronics. :vader
Yeah it will be expensive, but that's one people will pay for!! As long as they don't try and rip us off like the way they did with Darkness and Pumpkinhead (both phenomenal pieces, but way over priced in my opinion).

Those displaying with the hood... how are you dealing with all that extra hood? The shoulder pieces fit perfect, but there is enough hood there to fit two busts into!!! If you bring it up over the forehead as it should be, you have a ton of material in back that drapes everywhere! Any thoughts?

Gather it around in the front.
All that extra hood lets you put nice folds and gathers between the ears and the shoulders, adding to the illusion that the hood is part of a larger garment.

05-14-2006, 10:15 PM
Yeah, 40K seems high to me too... I think, instead of an average (which takes into account that small percent who make millions per year, thus skewing the averages), it might be better to find some stats of how many people make (pre-tax) 0-10K, 11K-20K, 21K-30K, 31K-40K, etc. I would guess - and this is just a guess, mind you - that the majority of families in the US are in the 21K-30K range... which definitely makes $200 a stretch to the budget, what with all the other bills there are to pay each month, while also trying to put some into savings.

25K a year is the average? Geez, that much can be made working at McDonalds. I am not trying to insult anyone in anyway, but 25K a year seems WAY low to me to be the average national salary unless they are including every high school kid working min wage jobs which can bring the avg way down.
Of course I guess cost of living also determins how much people are paid in any area of the country as well. I just live in Northern Va which is WAAAAAAAAAAY too expensive these days.

North Viriginia explains it, thats one of the highest cost of living areas in the nation. We are seeing the some flux here in the Traingle (Raleigh, NC). Considering my wife is a teacher an her starting salary is 26,000+ the average seems accurate. Also take in account that Walmart is the nations largest employee and then seconded by the Federal Government, between those two groups, the average takes a big hit...but back to the topic....

It's not that expensive here but the middle of MD isn't cheap. You have a lot of gov't jobs with NSA and such. I'll make almost 50K and I can't even afford to buy a house :monkey2

I paid my dues. I worked some pretty crappy jobs to get through college, even worked 2 jobs for a while. But then I got a big promotion and raise. I wouldn't have any of the stuff I have if I hadn't so I need to be thankful for all my hard work and dedication.:lol

I feel for you, Viking. I opened mine yesterday and just noticed there's a paint chip missing on one of his back horns. It's small, but for 600 clams they'll have to replace it.

does anyone know the timeframe allowed to return something like this due to a quality control issue like bad paint?
