View Full Version : What happened with AITO?

I came across this post in another forum and was wondering if anyone here still has any issues with AITO.
I ended up disputing all of my charges with my CC company.
I hope everything works out for you but here is someone else's story:
Okay - I usually don't feel the need to do something like this, but these guys... I tell ya. I basically threw away $300.00 USD!!!
Heres the story. I order a UC Gimli Helm from them and didn't receive it. They said it might have gotten lost in the mail So, they supposedly sent me another one. Guess what?! That didn't show up either. So, I pursued a refund. They went back and forth saying they were going to provide me a refund. NEVER HAPPENED. I sent SEVERAL email and even called the number I had and left a message. nadda. And unfortunately I gave these jerks so much time because they claimed slow shipping methods that now I cannot follow up with PayPal. So, I'm boned. Now when I send email I get a failure of delivery notification.
I notice that they're website is still up and they're taking orders. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! They're prices are so low for a reason. They are a mickey mouse operation. I haven't heard, but I suspect I'm not the only one to have 'shipping issues'.
Mods remove the link if this is out of line. Apologies in advance if it is.
Heres the link to the site. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! www.angelsintheoutfield.net (http://www.angelsintheoutfield.net)
Stick to people we know... like the good gents on the board here.
There... hope everyone is warned.

It sounds like they were undercutting the competition too much and got in way over their head. While some people got some great deals with all those special deal codes from JS, I'm glad I never placed an order with them.

I too am glad I passed. Experience has shown that it is best to stick to the tried and true retailers we know. Whenever I see a great deal, and I don't have any order experience with a new retailer, I am a little leary. If other board members have positive experiences, then yes.
I ordered one item from a retailer I had no experience with last year and I still don't have the product. I ordered with this outfit at the recommendation of a board member, and now I may be screwed. I think I will be contacting the better business bureau if I don't get my order or my money back. For now, I will say nothing about the retailer (it is not AITO).

Well I placed an order with them, but decied to cancel for a few reasons (mainly I was worried about postal damages, import dutys etc, until it started getting nasty on here).
So I decided I would stick with SS and politely requested a refund, I got a bit of a smart reply back saying I would get my refund in something like 10 business days, so about 13 went by and I asked for an update, never got a reply so took it up with my CC company and got a refund.

Ok - I don't know whats going on - but I became a member as part of JS's referral - and bought a Sauron - prepaid upfront - though am nervous about it - but JS and some others assured me - I get their e-mails, newsletter, etc.
I hope I get my order through.

I have a couple of orders with them...and have spoken with Kevin at AITO. He says they hope to have all backorders filled by the end of March. My orders are from back in Oct 04 and Dec 04.....
I hope I don't get screwed as well. At least I got a reply to my email.

Peter has been in contact with me regarding some AITO orders,
and we're working on getting some good information for many
people regarding their AITO orders.
Peter and I will be talking later tonight about things also, to
hopefully get some things figured out for everybody.
I don't have any good answers, as I'm not in the loop at this
point, but I will say that I have had some items shipped out
recently from AITO. A statue, and 2 Sauron Helms were sent
by AITO successfully to their destinations. Many more have
not been shipped, and I'm waiting on some backordered items
still.
I'm chalking it up to being buried with too many orders, but
beyond that, I don't have any other good answers on the
backorders and lack of refunds mentioned here.
I don't honestly think this is a Flikshop situation, as Shannon
would have to actually pack up and move, as it is here home
contact information given. I'm still hanging in there.
My experiences have been delays. Many here seem to have
had much worse experiences though. I don't have any idea
on why some are worse than others. I hope things can be
worked out, but seems very grim on the first post.

My CC company advised me that I had only 3 months to dispute a charge (damage or services not recieved). After 11 weeks from placing my orders, I informed Shannon about my CC situation and that I needed to cancel my orders the following week (via e-mail and the AITO forum). The next day, my membership to her forum was cancelled (no access to the AITO forum). >: I immediately disputed all charges from AITO with my CC company.
I re-ordered the same items from a forum seller. Cost me a little more money, but I recieved the items in less than a week. :rock There was a couple items the new seller had on back-order, but he informed me that UC had them in stock at their warehouse and that it would take about a week to order from them. So why does it take so long for AITO to get their items if the UC warehouse has them in stock. :dunno

Not that I see why we need to keep rehashing this issue but as far as I am concerned Shannon is ok in my book. My Legolas just shipped today and I should have it on Friday. My GOSF should be shipping in the next shipment that comes in.

The difficulty lies in the fact that there are so many varied
experiences with AITO which range all over the map.
I've had very good luck, with some overall delays, but I have
a lot on order, and I knew that there could be delays up-front.
Others have had good luck with on-time shipping of their purchases.
And still others have had lost items, lack of refunds, and even
worse situations that I've not experienced personally from AITO.
It is tough to pin down, but hopefully Shannon can chime in
soon and at least give some information for everybody as to
the "why" and "what happened" in several cases.
Growing too fast, or getting ton of orders all at once can knock
a business for a loop. I hope that is the case here, and that
all can/will be corrected for everybody with a bad experience.

I ordered a barad dur print from shannon, and she said it would ship in march. my only worry is that I no longer have access to the forums there for some reason. i called her and talked to her long ago and we had a conversation and she explained to me how hard it was to deal with this kind of ordering and shipping.

I've tried to order something from them on several ocassions. I have my VIP forum set up and everything, but they never even answered any of my order requests. Yes, they have unbelievably low prices, but they are operating WAY OVER THEIR HEADS. I wanted it to work out with them and I gave them plenty of opportunities, but I don't want to deal with the run-around.

I don't post much, so none of you will probably believe what
I have to say, but here goes anyway. I am not posting to defend AITO. I just want to post to inform some people about the things that have been said in this thread. First of all the forum member who started this thread, gruson, who obviously would never purchase anything again from angels in the outfield, tried to do just that on ebay just a few weeks ago. Take a look at this ebay auction: offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...511040465. (http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=6511040465.) Now if he has such concerns about them, why would he bid on one of their ebay auctions? Who knows? Maybe he didn't realize it was them. Not that it isn't blatantly obvious. Also in response to jsauctionservice's post. He said he thinks the delays are due to the fact that she had too many sales too fast. You think. Last time I checked it was js who posted all these deals in the first place and not just on this board but on others as well. So it seems to me that all of those who have purchased are the ones who have created the problem, not aito. AITO never came on this board announcing themselves or their sales, that was all js. So if you have anyone to blame I would think it would be him because after all he got all of you into this mess in the first place. Also, where do you think js is getting the museum sting swords he has been selling in the sale trade forum the past few days? I hope you can answer that one for yourselves?

:lol What a joke...
What retailor in their right mind wouldn't want their business promoted?
Face it, yes, they were overwhelmed but this happens in business. It's the business's responsibility to adapt quickly.
...to transfer the blame from the retailor to the customer for too many orders is completely absurd!!!!

How is it blatantly obvious? I went over that auction you linked to twice and don't see anything referring to AITO or shannon.
AITO never came on this board announcing themselves or their sales, that was all js
I order two UC helms from AITO last summer and received them fine, no problems at all. This transaction had nothing to do with JS. While yes JS did post several deals AITO was running, JS was in fact not the first person to post her site on the board. So no, it was not all JS. And yes there was a time when Shannon would come one here and post links to sales as well in the dealer section. Of course there is nothing wrong with that, our tried and true board dealers post sales as well and we post personal sales and trades in the sale form.
But like I said the one transaction I had with her was to my satisfaction. I have tried several times since to get on her forum, but have been unsuccessful so I haven't ordered anything else.

03-01-2005, 05:09 PM

I just want to chime in here....
I purchased two UC items from AITO, Legolas' Knives and an Anduril UE back during the October 04 sale, and I recieved them in early Dec 04. Everything arrived fine, and I had EXCELLENT service from Shannon the entire time. I have several pre-orders with her that I am patiently waiting for.
What seems very obvious to me is that many of the people who are publicly posting problems with AITO simply lack patience...
Naugladur
03-01-2005, 10:39 PM
I remember being really tempted by some of their deals. Then Shannon had that meltdown here and I bummed when she said they wouldn't accept any new customers. For about 10 seconds (whew). So I don't have a dog in this fight, but to dismiss these horror stories as "impatience" is ludicrous.
Lasher33
03-02-2005, 01:58 AM
I too have made numerous purchases with AitO.
Some excellent deals on UC inventory.
In addition, Shannon went out of her way to find a few items that I requested and that were nowhere to be found. Well, she found them and delivered them to me at an unbeatable price. Some of them she found so cheap (like the carbon composite Tanto) that she threw them in as freebies.
She even got me a ltd Anduril that a fellow dealer of hers had purchased on eBay for *his* costprice and shipped it to me at no extra charges, not even shipping costs!
She found me the two Drizz't swords that I had been after but always found too expensive. In fact, she even managed to get them in a limited edition, which I did not even know existed. Todd Lockwood (http://www.toddlockwood.com), fantasy artist and designer of the swords wrote me about them:
"Hey Peter!
I'm supposed to get copies of those.. How come you can get them in the Netherlands, but I still don't have mine? >: o("
Of course there have been delays, some too numerous to mention. Many of them not through any fault of hers though... Whenever she said she posted something, the shipping labels and postal stamps *always* confirmed everything she said. For example: I have received items two months *after* she has dropped them at the postoffice, even though they were sent airmail (!).
Needless to say, I have always been very happy.
Sure, the communication could have been better at times, especially in the past few months but I have found out (not by her saying it, BTW, but other sources...) that a lot of bad things have befallen her recently.
I am sad to hear that so many people are "left in the dark", so to speak, and I can fully understand the frustration and anguish.
But yes, I have faith that things will straighten out and that all the items that we (yes, me too...) have on (pre-)order will arrive sooner or later.
BTW, lostboy's post in which he tries to put the majority of the blame on JS is way out of line.
Also, this thread is now moved to the dealer section where it belongs.

i agree with pretty much everything Lasher has said in the above post. Everyone is putting all the blame on shannon but people dont factor in other possible delays and unexpected discrepancies . I mean cmon give her a break peeps. And yes shannon has had what seems like a rough few months due to a few sick days and what not but she still informed everyone of this and tried to keep in touch as much as possible during this time. And with all these old backorders and new preorders im assuming that her work load is piling up and this leads to more delays which is totally understandable but at least shannon is working very very hard at teh momment to straighten this all out and get out of the hole (so to speak). And yes im sure your all goin say well she shouldnt have gotten in this hole in the first place blah blah blah, well frankly she did and shes only human. But I have faith that once AITO gets out of this hole it will run 110% smoother.
And everyone raggin on JS needs to just cool off, hes just the messenger peeps calm down.
either way i also have preorders with AITO and support shannon 110%...you guys just need to show a bit of patentice and im sure shannon will come thru or do whatever she possibly could to make sure the customer is satisfied with her and AITO.

Folks, I've got a lot on order with AITO, and I'm confident
that they'll come through, but it is just taking some time.
I've paid up front for a lot, and have no concerns about
being scammed by AITO.
There have been a lot of changes at AITO to try and keep
up and get everybody updated with what is going on.
Please send e-mails to Shannon directly, and she should
respond with updates on your specific situations.
My final word is that I'm supporting AITO, and I still believe
100% that all my orders will be filled in time. AITO is a small
business, and for one person or a small group of people to
handle the volume they do takes time. Patience will pay off
and hopefully everybody here that has had difficulties will
have their issues resolved satisfactorily by Shannon.

What seems very obvious to me is that many of the people who are publicly posting problems with AITO simply lack patience...
Hmmmmm. So what's your definition of patience? 3 months was my limit and also my CC company's terms for dispute. After that, it's my loss. What made me finally decide to dispute the charges instead of keeping the AITO faith was that after I emailed and posted on the AITO forum about my CC situation, I was locked out of the AITO forum the next day and no response was made to my email request. >:
I later found (from a dealer in NYC that doesn't stock UC items but can get them) that 75% of my orders (non-preorders) was instock at the UC warehouse. :dunno If some of you have no problems with waiting, that's fine. For me, I'm going to pay a little extra to get my items now and skip the drama and avoid any dealers that want me to pay in full upfront. Too much unnessary stress.

I also disagree that it's a lack of patience. It's a lack of communication, period.
I ordered the LOTR dvd set from AITO. The dvd set came out, when was it, Dec. 14th? I heard nothing from AITO about my order on this date or even around this date. After the dvd had been out for 2 weeks, I posted a (very nice, I might add) question about status on the AITO website (in the appropriate places, but don't get me started on that ridiculously labyrinthine website). No response from anyone at AITO for several days. Then I posted another question (again, VERY nice status request). Got a posted response (not from Shannon) that Shannon was busy and would answer my email in a few days. About a week later (and NO response; at this point the dvd set's been out for at least 3 weeks), got a posted response from Shannon that she would check on my order and get back to me. This did not happen. Yet ANOTHER week went by (and believe me all this time I'm on the AITO website reading updates, reading shipping posts, etc), I figure that's it, I want this set before they're sold out everywhere else, and I email her directly, practically BEGGING for some kind of response as to whether or not one of these was on the way to me. Another "Shannon will get back to you" email (not from Shannon). Then I called AITO, and the answering machine message said it could be 7 days or more before I heard back. (I'm still trying to get a simple status question answered.) A few days later, I say forget it, and I call and leave a message to cancel my order. Believe it or not, I got an email from Shannon the very next day, and somehow, unbelievably, she made it MY fault that I had to cancel by saying that she'd been "telling everyone all along" that there would be delays in getting the LOTR gift set out because she'd had distributor problems or delivery problems, whatever. That's just NOT true, I could find NOTHING on their website that even hinted at this, and certainly there was no DIRECT communication from her telling me this. The tone of the email was snippy, in my opinion.
Busy or not, sick or not, overwhelmed or not... whatever, but it seriously ticked me off that I was somehow the "bad" one in this.
No more orders from me, but then evidently Shannon doesn't need or want my business. :dunno
For Pete's sake, she's supposed to be running a business. Why are people defending her poor business practices? I don't disagree that she can be a nice person, but what does THAT have to do with maintaining simple business protocols?

Hi Everyone,
I have been silent about this topic since it started and Shannon was on the boards. Let me educate everyone a little with simplicities.
The paid in full preorder deposit should be the first hint.
Any company who takes your money up front, is wrong in my opinion. I am one of the few companies which does take a 15% deposit and I do that because too many people are flighty and I want them committed to a purchase, the same way I am committed to get them products.
The growing pains and posts with way too much text in it, and too many personal feelings should be another. This is simple cut and dry stuff. Professionals do not need to post their laundry.
Waiting for a statue for 3-4 weeks past it's release date is another hint. Every dealer who buys items and pays for it, usually gets the products within a week of one another, unless the product ships in waves, in which case you still get a partial allocation of your order. GOS shipped a long time ago to everyone who ordered and paid for it. Sideshow received all of those in one shot, not waves.
This isn't a dealer bashing another dealer post. This is simply stating you guys have another Flickshop on your hands.
The fact the website went private is bull^^^^^.
Is everyone so blinded by getting the best deal, that you lost common sense? I guess so.
Stick with Bob, Adam and Marc. They know their stuff, Get products. Very competative prices. No delays, hesitations, games, drama. Nice people.
Listen to fellow board members which are having problems, instead of fighting each other.
If people have problems with a company it's usually 1 or 2 negative posts (bad experiences) and 500 positives (Like Feedback). When it's a 50/50 or 60/40, that 1/2 of the people had good experiences and 1/2 had bad experiences, it should be pretty clear.
I don't get some of you, really? Another 50 page post coming up on this topic?
Talk about reposts that no one complains over.
Selling this stuff is simple and fun. Buying it should be the same. OK, I have spoke my peace. A Mod should lock this post as well and let is disappear.

Here is one post she made that has since been lockinated. This should scare anyone away:
"After yesterday you all should be lucky that I am even in here posting to this thread!
OH DARE any of you still question me???????????????????
My store at the moment is going through a major over haul to accomodate ME and the growth so "I" will not ever have to endure and put up with what I had to yesterday.
The customer that started the thread failed to even mention that the card in which was used to buy from my store which is on file WITH THE MERCAHNT BANK NOT ME. Is cancelled has been for awhile so the merchandise in which he ordered I have no idea if it has even been charged.
NOW as far as you all's credit cards, I HAVE NOTHING ON FILE the bank does I NEVER SEE CREDIT CARD NUMBERS when you order online. AGAIN you people need to stop crying victim and educate yourselves. Stop slandering busiuness get the facts straight. I have heard it till I am blue in the face felt sorry for you all for a few but now "NO" I have never ever seen the such. Smaug worried about your order?? all the other posts worried about your order?? then stop freaking whinning in here and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! goooooooooooooood god!
As stated in the post yesterday I am here not going anywhere. I will though pick and choose who I will accomodate and who I will not. I am here for the collectors, now I will choose who I will do business with from here on out. Who is the blood hungry money maker or who is the TRUE COLLECTOR??? It is now my call. You all do not like look of homepage right now??? Made your beds now lay in it! I said I would not be bullied and YOU all will not have your personal fun at the expense of me or my business that I work my ass off for!"

OH. MY. GOD. I remember now. Honestly, my memory was so much nicer than her words. I can't believe anyone here is doing business with this company, let alone defending it. The 'real' dealers on this forum are so professional and such great people. Bbbrrrrrrr...........

Looks to me like Seion gets eaten alive in the end. JS lives to fight another day. Can't wait for the next exciting episode.
What was this thread about again? Hope things work out for everyone.

Bad Seion! That was another ill fated attempt at humor.....I wouldn't really do that to anyone...well....I guess a Cave Troll would make it worth while, but....

Stay tuned listeners. JS gives Seion the big smack down off the top turn buckle, comes off the ropes with a nice clothes hanger to finish off the bout. Later they have a laugh a few drinks and get cosy. Another days work in the entertainment industry done. Ahhhhhh.

I'm going to lock this thread too. Those of you with current orders with AITO I suggest you keep trying to contact them through other means than this board.
