Mezco Mega-Scale ThunderCats™ Lion-O
ThunderCats Ho!
Straight from the ThunderCats’ Lair on Third Earth, it’s Lion-O and the legendary mystic Sword of Omens.
This mega-scale figure measures over 20 inches tall from the tip of his upraised, extended sword to the soles of his Thunderian boots.
Featuring 7 points of articulation this mega figure is superbly detailed, perfectly capturing not only the iconic look of Lion-O as he appeared in the classic television series, but the essence, of Lion-O as he proudly raises the mystic Sword of Omens towards the heavens and roars out “Thundercats, Ho!” He comes complete with his impressive Claw Shield and a removable mystic Sword Of Omens.
Lion-O is packaged in a collector friendly window box that allows him to be displayed while remaining Mint In Box.

that looks great, but 7 points of articulation is very disappointing.

Yeah, sculpt and paint look great, but articulation is a bummer.

For the price point, I wouldn't be surprised if it's Rotocast too. I mean, I think it's a really fun piece as long as people aren't expecting too much. It's nice the Bandai Classics is coming, but I'm betting the paint here will blow those away... if not the sculpting.

Ha!!
Looks closer to Lion-O than the PCS one!!
:lol!!

Didn't expect Mezco to land the TC license...
If only they did 8" figures instead!!

'tis a great year for TC fans!! :yess:

Totally agree here, with Mezco doing it. Most likely it will be like there other "big" figures at least half of it was rotocast or glorified shampoo bottle if you will.

If they do a Mumra or other bad guys then we'll talk.

Price is quite good for this... but would make more sense to either not have articulation or make a more articulated version. 7 points (one of which is a distracting mid-forearm cut joint) doesn't make a lot of sense.

I do like that they appear to be making a more faithful rendition of the original series.

I agree , paint , sculpt great , articulation poor.....

pretty awesome. just bring on all the cast and this will be the line to collect since it is around the cost of a motu classics figure.

Looking at this again, it seems that the shoulders might be ball jointed. I guess that way you can either have the arm up or down for display. Still kind of odd looking, but I could see it looking okay among a group of figures.

JonWes

It does seem that the figure won't really look right unless he's holding his sword aloft.

Maglor

I really like it.

And I think the right arm would look fine in a down position. :dunno

The vintage Kenner 12-inch Boba had ball jointed shoulders and he looks fine with his arms down.

i saw the figure in person at the new york toy fair and took some pics. as disappointed as i am in the lack of articulation, this thing kicks all kinds of ***. such a great sculpt. very cartoon accurate with awesome paint. i will definitely pick one up.

The sculpt and paint on this one is really awesome (never really had many issues with Mezco). I’m not crazy about articulation since I don’t play with the figures anyway, the more articulation there is the more it looks like a “toy”. I really hope they make others in this scale!!! That would be seriously awesome.

Don't care for it... expression is a bit funky, but mostly is the pointed teeth. In the cartoon (which is is clearly representing) the teeth were flat across.

I saw Lion-O today at Hastings for $39.99. I wanted to buy it, but I've got a few HT and third party TFs preorded. The box art was really cool with Lion-O on the front and the rest of the cats looking bad-*** as it wrapped around the right side. On the left side it had a huge THUNDERCATS logo. The paint was very clean(no smudges or over spray) and the sculpt had very crisp lines. I don't have the Hard Hero or the Popcultureshock Lion-O, but this will make a nice cheap stand in.

Nintenjoe

has anyone picked this figure up yet? interested in seeing some reviews.

the wording for the exclusive is throwing me off. the description says, "Interchangeable glowing eyes head and open mouth heads."
so does the variant come with 2 separate heads or is it just one head with glowing eyes and an open mouth? if that's the case i think i'll just get the regular version.

OK, as promised, here are some pics!
Seriously this figure kicks ***!!!
As simple as it is, with minimal articulation, the sculpt is pretty amazing and the size imposing, I gotta say, this one is probably my favorite Mumm-Ra rendition out there!(The Icon heroes is very good too... )
It's crazy how this one captures Mumm-Ra so perfectly, even better than the PCS one... but that's no surprise, and for the price, you can't go wrong!!
Love it!!

My only nitpick is the inside of the mouth... it's kind of flat... and looks a bit weird...
I might fix that eventually.
Oh! and the cape doesn't quite stay on the wrist bracelets, nothing major.

hundercats 14" Glow-in-the-Dark Mumm-Ra 2-pack
Write A Review

This Summer Exclusive features a glow-in-the-dark, blue-skin Mumm-Ra and comes packed with his decayed form version, created from an entirely new sculpt, showing him in his decrepit natural state.

Normally old and decrepit, he transforms himself into the powerful Mumm-Ra the Ever Living by reciting the incantation "Ancient spirits of evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living!" Based on the the original animated series, this mega-scale figure is 14" of evil ancient fury!

Mezco’s Mumm-Ra is superbly detailed, perfectly capturing not only the iconic look of Mumm-Ra the Ever Living as he appeared in the classic television series, but the essence of his villainy as he spreads his arms wide and swears to destroy Lion-O.

Mumm-Ra features 8 points of articulation as well as a real cloth cape and bandages. Both come packaged together in an oversized collector friendly box. This is a non-numbered limited edition item. Edition size TBD.

Shipping: July/August 2012.

I mean, it's awesome but kind of a slap in the face to those who but the regular Mumm-Ra IMO...

cheetara looks good, i have them all bar the sdcc lion-o and mumm-ra versions

P****d me off actually i paid for a regular mumm-ra in the UK, only to find out a couple of months later they were going to release it with the decrepit version. They should of also included mar-mutt

The prices over here are just ridiculous, £80 when it's up for pre-order on the mezco site for $50. If it wasn't such a hassle getting them over with customs charge etc

They'll obviously carry on the line i doubt they stop it without doing at least tygra, wily kit & kat and i'm hoping snarf too.

I'd like the mutants, jaga and grune. Hopefully somebody will remake the thundertank
