Believe this rumor has been debunked? His next movie continues to be The Lovely Bones.

The details were in a story printed by British newspaper 'Mail on Sunday'.
Saying that Jackson had spent a day filming one of the last two Lancasters. He had met vets.of the raid in New Zealand and the UK and the impression was that he was all set to start.
Since the original post I have been looking around the sites and found that he has two movies 'on the go' - 'Lovely Bones' and something called 'Halo'. which makes me wonder if the paper was a bit premature in printing this story. However knowing Jacksons interest in British military history, who knows what might happen in the future ?

He isn't directing HALO, just producing.

Seems like the rumour has got stronger. There is to be a 'Dam Busters' remake.
The BBC reported that Jackson is to use material which was classified at the time of the 1954 original.

Should be interesting. I wonder how they'll glorify drowing more than a thousand people.

Just remark!
Maybe, instead of glorifying it, Jackson will take the opposite tack. Especially given the intended use of the now-declassified information that's available.

I don't think gloryifying comes into it.
This raid was conceived to destroy a major industrial area of Nazi Germany, the same area which were making arms, ammunition, tanks, aircraft and steel, often with slave labour, pressed from all over occupied Europe.
It is historical fact. If the raid shortened the war, thus saving life it was sucessful in my opinion.
7 million in the camps, 20+ million Russians dead !!.

I hope Sideshow gets this licence. Can you imagine what they could do with a RAF Lancaster Pilot? :D
