If meeting the MR staff is not enough incentive to get you out to the show, we’d like to take this opportunity to unveil the news of our 2006 Comic Con exclusive… The exclusive will be a limited edition black chrome version of our highly anticipated Han Solo Blaster Scaled Replica. As an added incentive, there will be a very rare, randomly inserted chase version of the exclusive as well.:lol

I can understand collecting prop replicas... even though I do not personally indulge in that arena of collecting. But buying expensive prop replicas that have some variant coloring for the purposes of making them limited puzzles me. Why buy a prop replica when it's not screen accurate?

I have absolutely no idea. I've seen the gold "chase" scaled lightsabers in person, and they look atrocious!!! I can't imagine what the appeal is other than those seemingly magic and maddening words: "exclusive", "rare", "variant", etc. etc.

I dont understand MR strategy with all thier variants, exclusives, limited editions, variants of limited editions, color variants....the list seems to go on and on....doesnt make any sence to me...

That's a relief... I was worried that when I clicked on this thread that I would be reading about something I actually wanted. No problem passing on a chrome mini-blaster.

first impression when i read this was... oh no there they go again. making all the minis in various tones just like the minis.
well completists will be sucked into this. i'm sure there are collectors out there who beg to differ with some of us here and will be buying this when they have the chance as well. whether they buy it happily or not is another matter. :)
think the only range that is safe from this 'trend' is the FX sabers.

I am collecting the mini sabers in regular version. None of the "smoked" or "gold" versions at all. I also have 3 of the FX sabers.

their strategy is really simple... after they run out of new ideas they simply re-make something that sold out previously and change the name or a few simple details. this is also known as the "MR double-dip."
~~i think its even started being taught in some business classes.
